He barely heard it,barely but he heard what she said. The second he heard her say that, his cheeks exploded red,not the normal pink, but red,.
She looked up at him with a wavering smile. By now she assumed he wouldn't touch her in an aggressive way but she was still worried he might give her the boot and put her back on the streets.
Arc looked at her,his cheeks were red,but he didn't say a word,he couldn't think of any words to say..
She almost wished he would kick her out instead of staying silent like that. His cheeks were red, which obviously meant he was feeling something strong. She climbed up onto the bed and curled up into a ball on top of the blanket
He looked down,"you, like me..?" He asked,in a somewhat retreating voice. It was a late question,it hey,the boy was speechless.
He looked at her,and shook his head,"I don't want you to leave.." he said
She relaxed But didn't shift her position and gripped the blankets tightly, "w-well, I mean it... No one has ever been nice to me like you have... I owe you my life, for what it's worth..."
He smiled,"Deeds of kindness don't always require repayment" he said.Meaning she didn't have to do a thing for him in return.
"Ones this important do," she protested and sat up, "I want to do something for you..."
"If you want to,I won't stop you," he said, giving up on no repayment, she was determined to return the favors.
"Well I will," she huffed, "But... Do you know any way I could learn how to read?"
"I could teach you some,or hire somebody to teach it to you..." he said,"my dad once had a friend who was a English teacher" he said,
She pouted, "N-no humans," she shook her head, "Is there something on the... In-ter-net?" she asked, drawing out the words
He thought for a second, then left the room, returning with a laptop, and laying the laptop on the bed,and opening it from where he stood,"there probably is something on the internet that could teach you.." he said surfing the web for somethint .
She moved so that she was sitting next to him and peered over his shoulders at the letters, which to her we're just lines.
Arc finally found a site,Learn to read ages 1-67+, he thought, that should do the trick. He clicked begin.By the looks of it,it was doing a good job at teaching.
She watched the video intently, absorbing all the info. "How do I watch it again?" she asked when it was over.
He walked over to the laptop, and moved the cursor over to replay, then clicked.Soon the video began all over again.
She watched it with the same attention as before then asked for a third and final time. When the third time was over she smiled with confidence she never had before (for any reason).
"Do you have anything I can try to read?"
