After a few minutes of blue light flashing through the mess of carnage, Austin cleared enough zombies from the front of the Tank for it to move without impairment.
"Go!" Austin yelled, before slamming his fist into the face of another walker.
Once Josh and Randall were well away from the traffic, Austin ran as fast as he could to follow them. At least some of the walkers, unfortunately, were almost as fast as he. Austin took the occasional shot at them as best he could without stopping, but getting to the boys was more important right now.
He had his helmet's computer hack their cars' radio (which he had conveniently turned on while searching for some sign of life elsewhere,) and hooked it up to his helmet.
"Guys, keep heading south. There's a gas station a couple miles down, just keep following the highway and you should find it. I'll find you. Give it a day or so. Then just keep driving. Leave your radio on in case I need to contact you."
Austin didn't want to lose track of the only humans he had seen in weeks, but right now their survival was more important than his need to talk to others.
The road Josh and Randall were on was elevated by now, and Austin jumped off, hoping the walkers would follow him. They were all stupid enough to jump to their deaths, which was fine by him.
Austin hoped there was a SET weapons stockpile nearby, and requested a bike. The request went through and soon a motorbike with more armament than your military Hummer held appeared in front of him.
He hopped on, and peeled out.

Randall didn't waste any time following through with the order- with a roar from the Tank, the car lunged forward, splatting a couple of zombies as it freed itself and shot like a green and black bullet down the road. He was back in his element.
The twins jumped slightly when Austin's voice came through on the radio- they weren't used to hearing someone speak through the car. It was weird.
"Gas station, south," Randall repeated to himself so he'd remember. "Got it."
"He's gonna catch up...?" Josh said with a frown. "I'll be interested to see how he does that."
Oh, silly little boy.

(Time skip? Time skip.)
The gas station didn't take long to find for the boys, but Austin had to find another way to get there. They waited a good three hours or so before he arrived.
Once he did arrive, he stumbled off of his bike, which disappeared into blue energy, and took his helmet off. After he did so, he promptly shook his head.
"Whoo! That was exhilarating. Alright," he walked over to the Tank and checked to see if the boys had been waiting in the car this entire time. Knowing boys, (and being one himself,) Austin figured they were probably checking out the goods in the store. If not, then they were probably playing a game or exploring the surrounding area.

Josh was crashed in the backseat of the Tank, sleeping like he was dead. An arm was thrown across his eyes to block the light, and his machete was next to him like he was cuddling with a teddy bear. He was exhausted and it showed when he didn't wake up when Austin pulled up and looked in to see if they were in the car.
Randall was in the store looking for anything salvageable. He wasn't having much luck so far and he dropped into a crouch when he heard Austin pull up. He didn't know who it was as of yet since he didn't want to make himself known, although he'd have to soon enough since he had left Josh in the car to listen for the radio in case Austin said something.
Yeah, he was totally listening to the radio now.

Austin saw Josh sleeping and chuckled to himself, but let him sleep.
He figured Mr. Violence was inside the station, looking for supplies. He walked inside and began to quietly look for Randall.
"Hope there aren't any walkers in here..." He spoke under his breath.

Randall tensed as he heard the door open, peering cautiously between the slats of a bare shelf as he spotted and quickly recognized Austin. Oh, it was just him- okay, nothing to worry abou-
He let out a startled yelp as he felt a hand clench around the back of his shirt collar and heard the characteristic snarl of the undead. Acting purely off instinct, he swung the gun Austin gave him around and clobbered it in the side of the head to knock it off, taking a step back and blasting its brains out with a single shot.
Goddam, he hated jumpscares. He took a moment to get his breath back, his heart feeling like it had leaped up to his neck in the horror of the moment. Okay. Okay, he was fine. Fine. Just fine.
He pawed at the back of his neck though, just in case. He didn't feel any scratches or anything and he'd know if he'd been bit. He was fine.
He sighed and stepped out from behind the shelf, rolling his shoulders to relax them as he looked around for his odd ally again. "Austin?"

Austin heard the yelling from inside the store and rushed over to where he heard it. He arrived just in time to see Randall blow out the zombie's brains.
"Good shot. Did you find any supplies?" He casually grabbed a bag of unopened Doritos Spicy Nacho (SPONSOR) and began munching away, after his armor dematerialized.
This was the first time since the apocalypse that Austin had taken his armor off. He wore a dark green hoodie with a white winged design on the back. His denim jeans were a light blue, and slightly faded. The SET armor boots remained on, however. He shook his head, a mess of brown hair moving back and forth. He obviously hadn't had it cut in a while. Still, it wasn't completely unkempt. Just ruffled.
"I'm really getting tired of dead people," he sighed casually.

"I'm really getting tired of dead people," he sighed casually.
"You and me both," he said absently, looking around warily in paranoia. His guard was high now that he had had a run in with a zombie, and he really didn't want to repeat the scene again. "Nothing, really. Nothing even remotely edible that I saw... I think this place has already been ransacked before. Figures." He shrugged and walked outside, jumping as a startled fox darted back into the safety of the highway brush. "WH- oh... Oh."
The boy shook his head, taking a deep breath to try to calm his nerves. He had to stop being so jumpy- it was just a fox. It wasn't like this was the first time he'd ever been attacked before.
He was just overly paranoid, that was all.
Didn't stop him from hating jumpscares, though. Good Christ.
He waited for Austin by the Tank, peering at his sleeping brother through the window, reluctant to wake him up yet since he seemed so peaceful and tired.

Austin followed Randall to the Tank and got in the passengers' side front door. He was tired and ready to rest for a while. Besides, Randall seemed old enough to drive. He could probably handle it.
Once the eldest of the twins had gotten into the car, Austin set the bag of Doritos down and popped his neck. "Alright. So where were we headed again?"

When he heard the car doors slam, Josh bolted upright so fast that he smacked his head on the roof of the car. "OOH- OWW!"
Randall ignored his brother, starting the Tank and cruising away down the street, trying to go at a respectable pace but not too fast yet. He'd floor it if there was a multitude of zombies following or ahead of them. "I can't really answer that. There's no set destination in mind, really. We just keep moving from place to place until we find somebody, since we all really scattered like roaches after we got overrun. We've been looking for signs of anyone we know but so far, nothing." He sighed, his dark blue gaze studying the landscape around them. "You know of a place we need to go?"
"South seems like the best option at this point," Josh chimed in, having recovered from his encounter with the roof. "I would say north, but there's too many cities up north. There's no way we'll be able to get through them all without getting caught in a swarm at least once. We'd have to weave around a lot of things, and that would burn up a lot of gas and it's getting scarce enough as it is."
"Yeah," Randall said with a sigh, thinking about it a moment, his head tilted to the side. "Some areas of the south are pretty messed up though. Atlanta, Birmingham, Jackson, New Orleans... Dallas. I doubt the Plano/Fort Worth area fared any better."
