Mehdi was passing through a desert town on his way to a different life. His lover had just married someone else the night before, and Mehdi was in woeful need of a drink. He slithered in to the bar, his gold tail making curved marks on the slightly dirty floorboards. A few people stared. Whether it was his pale while skin, baby blue hair, or long snake body, Mehdi supposed there were enough reasons that he would draw attention. He preferred to think that he was just irresistibly attractive, but most of the people in the bar were just amazed to see a naga.
Hailing the barmaid, Mehdi ordered himself a drink and tucked into a dark corner of the bar. It was depressing to think of how many bars he had frequented around the world, drowning his sorrows after the inevitable ends of his scandalous relationships. Mehdi never was able to make it work for the long term. Perhaps if he went home and found a sensible naga for his mate... But what was the fun in that?
Mehdi took a long swig of his drink when it came, his golden eyes flashing. He scanned the others in the bar, not taking particular interest in any. Perhaps today he would satiate his hunger for rebound sex, as they tended to call it. It might be amusing...";

Although not looking for the same things, Ixen was also in the area. He was drawn there by curiosity. As the dragon stepped off of the cobblestone street and into the tavern, eyes turned to look at the rare site. Unlike others of his kind, Ixen loved knowledge and adventure, and was the only dragon in his area to actually leave their land to explore. Dragons were not unheard of, but because of their reclusive nature, only people who went to their lands ever saw them.
After an inspection the eyes went back to their drinks and their friends. Ixen didn't actually like taverns, he was a little closterphobic, but needed some supplies, and a tavern could usually provide water and a good meal. The bar tender waited for the dragon to reach the counter before he asked what he could do for him. "I need some water and a hot meal. Whatever is cheapest. How much do I owe you?"
The bar tender answered him and Ixen nodded, gave him his money, and sat down away from the noise and crowds, a table near Mehdi. The young dragon waited patiently at the table with his tail waving slightly behind his chair.
