Trouble in Paradise
Hi everyone! I really want to do a neo-noir/crime/spy/action drama type of RP where our characters are looking for someone and they have to undergo various things to get closer. They have to "play the game", so to speak and I figure what better place to do that than in Sin City? Also, I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas. I would like to lean more in the drama/mystery/suspense category with combat being uncommon (though not rare) and magic being very rare with most of the 'fantasy' element just being different races. Anyways, if you're interested, send me a message and we can speak more about details! Below is the interaction that brought my character over.
"I have a job for you..."
"You're quite a difficult woman to get a hold of, Tsuru Arai; Bosatsu Tengu of Hakusan."
"What can I say? I'm a busy girl."
"Busy eating, drinking and falling asleep in parks?"
"I do what I can. Gotta keep standards high."
"I've noticed."
"What do you want anyway, Agyo? Or were you Ungyo? I forget sometimes."
"You'd best watch your tongue, Tengu. You toe a fine line."
"Relax. I only kid. But really, what is it?"
"You're going to Paradise."
"Come again?"
"Paradise, Nevada, to be specific."
"United States?"
"I hope you bring some sunblock, money and a swimsuit and that your English is up to speed."
"Oh, my English is good. But what's in the US that I have to go there?"
"Kouga."
"Kouga? The Youkai, Kouga? What is he doing out there?"
"Living it up."
"And that's problematic because...? He's not here. Let him suck off the Americans' tit."
"He stole the Koban-Geta and is using it to gamble and build a syndicate in the US and he's causing problems. I've sent others after him but they never returned."
"Oh..."
"Yeah."
"Well I guess that is problematic."
"You know what you have to do. I want him alive, but if you have to rough him up, I won't lose any sleep."
"Do the Kongorikishi even sleep?"
"Tengu..."
"Okay okay, I'll stop. So I nab him. Then what?"
"You'll be returning him to the Shusse Inari shrine in Los Angeles and I'll collect him from there."
"And...will I face resistance?"
"Yes."
"Human or Non-Human?"
"Both."
"Violent or non-violent?"
"Both."
"Great. So not only do I have to capture him, but I'll face resistance and have to transport him to the next state over?"
"Don't worry, I don't expect you to take him alone. I've set up for a partner to help you when you get there."
"Who?"
"An American. Someone you can trust."
"Can they fight?"
"Yes."
"Do they know how to exercise discretion and lay low?"
"Absolutely."
"Do I know them?"
"No."
"Tch. Of course."
"Now go. Your flight out of Narita leaves in 5 hours. It's an American Airlines flight. When you arrive, I have you two posted in a room at the Waldorf Astoria. It's near the top so you'll have a view of the city and it will serve as a good base of operations. Separate beds for you two, of course."
"I hate long flights..."
"Would you rather fly there on your own?"
"Do AA flights give free peanuts and have WiFi?"
"Earthly life has spoiled you, Tengu..."

Plausible legends of ancient magic, but current magic is not common.
Modern
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
Romance is slightly desired, but the overall plot is more important.
