Requirements
1. Is a shapeshifter of some sort (mercyverse, werewolf, ect--anything)
2. Is a teacher of some kind
3. Is not shy/antisocial

An arachnid (specifically spider) shapeshifter who teaches high school art, often focusing on embroidery. They look rather intimidating because of their piecing yellow eyes and dark fashion sense but are actually very friendly and just want to share their love of art with people.

She is very entertaining, and can spin quite the story as well! She uses storytelling and narrative structure as a tool in her classroom quite a bit as well.

On her own time, she enjoys going to open-mics. Every once in awhile she takes the stage.

She uses meditation to de-stress after a hard week of classes.

Maybe she's a gym teacher with a surprisingly frail build. Don't underestimate her by looks as she can really kick butt.

Her dainty features are a result of her werebeast, a tufted deer or Chinese water deer. She is adorable in both forms but the fangs terrify many and spurn dark rumors.

If fantasy is an option here, maybe she's secretly a vampiric weredeer?

They could be an art teacher, theatre teacher, or even something like movement/expression teacher. Or, maybe they teach weaponry or something, and are extremely skilled and also maybe... Insulting. Hahaha.

I don't think anyone has suggested an era yet! I have two:

Modern era OR industrial revolution

In either era, maybe she is head of, or trying to establish, a teacher's union in her area? There are plenty of challenges there.

If modern fantasy, maybe this OC knows Animewithin's vampire and/or Claine's modern fantasy OC or Lucretire's Fanged Male in some way?

Oooh! Industrial era spider shifter teacher that saves kids from the horrors of factory life by teaching them how to use an 'old fashioned' loom rather than getting caught in the newly modernized giant factory looms that are known to take off arms and heads of those trying to fix/maintain/operate them! She's so good at what she does and her kids are so appreciative and love her and work so hard for her that she can actually out produce a whole modern factory floor and that is making her some powerful enemies...

This teacher is a private tutor to a highly influential family - nobility, or rich businessmen. You see, the parents are keenly aware that their children not only need the best education their money can buy but that their children may be targets. So - they need to make sure their children are protected at all times.

Your character has the potential of a brilliant teacher, skilled in both intellectual and more practicable fields, however, (like others have suggested) she had been cursed at youth to transform into a massive spider. While she can take on this form at will at any time, she will transform every single night. When the other village folk found out about her curse, she was shunned, not permitted into polite society, and she lived alone and friendless.

However, the influential family saw the possibility - a skilled teacher, but also a powerful being who could protect their children. They go against the common beliefs of the villagers, and offer her a job. She's not shy or antisocial, she's outgoing and friendly - but most people are too scared of her to give her an opportunity to bond.
