Anubis nodded and smiled, <Exactly. We're his family too.>

<So I'm wandering around with a family again, just not mine. It's nice, I guess.>

<It's always nice to be in a family,> Melody chimed inland gave Ignis a light nuzzle. The shiny zangoose was sitting cross-legged next to him and had a cute smile on her face.

He smiled a bit, looking down. Why were all the cute girls acting so flirty with him? Not that he complaining, exactly...

<It certainly is, Melody.>

<It's a shame about them,> Melody said to Ignis and glance towards Rome and Venice, who were cuddled together on Archur's chest and sound asleep, <They'd make a really sweet couple if only Rome grew a pair and would tell her... But Ra done everything he possibly could except come out and tell her. It's sorta sad,> she mused, <He's given her flowers, brought her up when she was sad, helped her when she was hurt... Everything he possibly could do to say he loves her without actually using the words, he has done.>

<I didn't tell her when we were talking earlier... Have you asked him why he hasn't just said it?>

<No, but it's because he's scared,> Anubis sighed, <He's scared of being rejected and hurt by her, which in all honesty, it's quite possible that she might. He wants to at least be frieda with her and he doesn't want to tell her and have her reject him because that would ruin their relationship.>

<Sounds like a good idea, but won't he just end up getting hurt?>

<The reward is greater than the risk, but the mental punishment he would receive on rejection... That is just as bad as her returning his feelings is good. But the chances are much more in favor of her rejecting him than returning his love."

<That's too bad. I wish I could help him out, he's nice.>

<He's super sweet,> the zangoose agreed, <Love just isn't something he's great at."

<At least not with someone who seems, well, oblivious to his attempts.>

<She's very hard to love simply because->
<I-is this true?> Venice's voice pierced the air, a terrified, guilty tone hanging over her words, <Does he...?> she looked at the still sleeping quilava, <Is that really how he feels?> she asked with a guilty whimper.
Anubis and Melody just looked at her in shock. Neither of them knew that she had woken up, or that in fact, she hadn't fallen asleep at all.
<H-honey... I, um...> Melody frowned worriedly but nodded while she spoke.

<This... just got awkward.> The canine sighs, hanging his head. "That's why he was sad when you started playing with me, Venice.>

That didn't make any sense to her for a few seconds and then she hung her head low upon realizing.
<He... He loves me...> she whispered, <I guess... I guess it all makes sense... He's done so much for me... I-I feel so terrible!" she crouched down and covered her eyes with her front paws and she began to cry, which in turn woke up Rome.
<Hey, Venice?> he asked worriedly and padded towards her, <Venice, what's wrong?> he asked with growing concern but she didn't answer him and he looked at Melody, Anubis and Ignis, <What happened? Why is she crying?> he asked and nuzzled the zorua gently.

<We were talking about how you feel and we didn't know she wasn't napping. I'm... sorry, Rome.>

His eyes went wide and he suddenly felt very, very betrayed. He took a few steps away from them all and just shook his head, <Why? Why would you talk about me behind my back?> he whimpered, <I thought you all were my friends!>
<N-now Rome,> Melody shook her head, "Don't get mad at them, It's my fault. I said you and Venice would make a cute couple and it just... It sprouted from there. I'm sorry, we thought that she was asleep.>
Tears sprung to Rome's eyes and he sniffed then looked over at Venice before bounding away and hiding behind the mass of blue skin and metal that was Nicholai. Nobody would dare disturb the Pokemon while he slept. The Swampert would never actually do anything, but it was the thought of what he could do that kept any ideas of waking him up at bay.

<He's hurting bad...> Melody whimpered and looked like she might cry too, but instead she just picked up Venice and cuddled her to her chest, <Hun, none of this matters if you like him in the same way,> she said, <Do you like him like that? Do you love him as much as he loves you?>
<I don't know...> she shook her head, <I... I don't know...>

<That isn't something you should ask. It should be him.> He looks at the Quilava's hiding place and sighs. <Even if he' drat her hide.>

<But he's my best friend!> Venice protested, <And I can't just say I don't know to him! I can't hurt him after all he's done for me and I never even noticed or questioned why! And I can't say yes because I don't know!> she shook her head and his her face in Melody's fluffy chest fur.
<I'm afraid we might have just broken something too delicate to fix...> Anubis said sadly.
