<Ignis.> He answers, hoping his back ridges would be scratched next.

And that they were. Archur's hand absently moved down and he scratched bewtween the ridges.
"His name is Ignis," Anubis said then turned back to his book. Hope had flopped over the lucario's lap and was snoozing soundly.
"Ignis... That's a cool name," Archur grinned at the houndour.

He sighed in pleasure. This was so much better than finding a bush with stiff leaves! He ignored the 'cool' part of the sentence. He'd let it slide as long as his ridges were scratched.

Archur continued the scratching until his arms got tired, which took a while due to his long experience with the scratching of his furry friends.

It had felt so good that Ignis had truly let his guard down and fell asleep right there with his head on Archur's knee.

Venice and Rome had come over now, and Archur had fallen asleep too, with his hand on Ignis' back.
<Awww... No back scratches for us,> the zorua pouted, <He's really cute when he's sleeping,> she giggled and turned to Rome, who was looking away now and his eyes were watering ever so slightly.

He didn't sleep very long, and stretched after looking over his shoulder. Naps were great every once in a while, especially if back scratches were given first.

<Rome? Are you okay?> Venice asked, spotting the small tears in her friend's eyes.
<I-I'm fine,> he said and wiped them away with a paw then sniffed and forced a smile. Venice, being who she was, wasn't skeptical for even a full minute before playfully pouncing on Rome, sending them rolling off Archur's lap. Then she noticed that Ignis woke up and she pranced over to him.
<Hello, sleepy head!> she giggled and crouched playfully in front of him, her bushy tail waving in the air while Rome watched with a growing look of sadness on his face.

<Hmm, hello again. Were you playing with Rome? I don't want to interrupt..> He remembered what Hope had said and looked over to the Quilave. <I'm still a little sleepy.>

<Is okay~> she giggled and playfully tapped his nose with one of her paws, <Boop!>

What should he do? He knew Rome liked her, but she wanted to play with Ignis too... Thinking fast he dashed over and tapped the Quilava's nose. <Boop!>

This startled Rome a great deal and he stumbled backwards then just stared blankly at him for a moment before walking over to Nicholai and cuddling against the swampert's leg.

<Aw, Rome! You party pooper!> Venice teased but she could at least tell he wasn't in the mood to play and so she just ran at Ignis, pouncing on his side, though she was light enough that he barely got pushed and she started playfully scratching at him with her stubby claws.

He hid his frown well. He had hoped that would have worked! He turned to Venice and growled playfully.

<think you can take me?>

She snarled adorably and took his nose in her maw and began lightly nibbling it.

He shook his head to free his nose and bopping her with his paw again before jumping back.

She released and giggled then pounced on his head and climbed up his face. She grabbed his stubby ears in her mouth and playfully tugged on them.

He had to laugh. She was so light! With a shake of his head he sent her tumbling before he placed a paw on her tail and growled at her again.

<Not bad, Venice.>

She let out a startled cry as she was flipped then giggled and gently pawed at his face with her hind paws, trying to get him off her tail.
<Tails are no fair!> she protested but was giggling happily.

<You were cheating because yours is bigger than my tail, so I made it even!> He joked, trying to knock her paws away with his free paw.

She continued playfully kickboxing at him, <Lemme gooooo!> she sat up and licked his chin.
