Poor girl. "May the gods grant her peace." I mentally bless her, and hope she died fighting. If you're going to go down, at least put up a struggle. "It's a shame she had to die in such a horrible manner... We'll gather her on the way back through." With the death of a young one, likely innocent, unrelenting fury raised in the depths of my soul that would not die down until the culprits pay for their crimes. Slaying an older citizen is one thing, but do they really have to be that young? She looked to be no older than twenty. I've seen this before, yet it has never failed to bring out the worst in me. Not once. I put away my thoughts and went on to focus solely on the task at hand. Bringing down these butchers, whatever they might be. Not too far down the tunnel, there was a small hole in the wall, from which a large room was just visible. There was no way anything but a rat could fit through there; But you could see. The only way I noticed this was the considerable amount of yellow light streaming through the small opening. The first thing that caught my eye was another dead body - or rather what was left of it. I think it's a Dunmer. Gods bless him, or her. The rest was concealed by the vast amount of rocks. Save for some shadows. It was near impossible to determine what they were from this precise angle, but nevertheless, it was something. "That might be their main base of operation - it looks more organized than the rest of this place. Here," I step off to the side and look down the hall, out of paranoia that something was coming after us. Nothing was.

Dmitri peered down the hole too and grimaced at the sight, "These people are disgusting..." he mumbled and looked for any movement, but saw none. He started forwards down the hall, leading Sinia with his bow in hand, ready to let fly another arrow.
After a couple minutes of walkin through the narrow, curvin hall, they came to a small balcony overlooking a large, tall chamber. At the very bottom were several cages, most of which had children, ranging from 10 to 16, but another was full of obviously ravenous wolves.
There were several grown men sitting at a table on a wooden platform above when another came in from a small entryway next to a bookshelf.
"The boss says he want two more," he said. Dmitri could barely make out the words and doubted Sinia could at all.
"Alrighty. Did he say who?" one of the men who was at the table asked. The first man shook his head and the two at the table stood and went down then opened up a cage. Each of them grabbed a child, both early teens and one was another khajiit girl, the other was a Nord boy. The men dragged the two off into the entrance after shutting and locking the cage.
"We have to stop this!" Dmitri growled quietly but furiously. Only the first man was there now and Dmitri let loose his arrow, which instantly killed him and pinned him to the book shelf.

I had only caught a few words of what the men were saying. 'Boss' and 'two' were among them. Not long after Dmitri killed the man, one of them came back and was shocked to see that his comrade had been killed. We were so high up, it was impossible for anyone or anything to take that far of a fall and come back up on both feet. There's a wooden door on the balcony - I try opening it, but it's barred shut. It's wood. I can kick it down. Stealth be damned. We just watched two kids get dragged off. From what I've seen, there's a very small chance that whatever they're being dragged off for is for a friendly reason. The hinges on the door were surprisingly rusted and weak, they snapped off after three blows. This allowed entrance to a winding staircase that would end up leading most of the way down. Part of it had collapsed. It was still capable of being navigated.

Dmitri killed the other man who returned without a sound and then followed Sinia done the stairs, keeping his bow out. They came out about half way to the bottom of the tower and Dmitri looked for another way down.
"There's a rope ladder," he said and pointed to two ropes tied up to two rocks at their feet, "You go first, I'll cover you in case anyone comes by," he said and trained his arrow at the entryway where the two men and the teens had disappeared.

I nod and sheathe my sword, climbing down the ladder quickly as possible and jumping the last few feet. Once at the bottom, I took the sword back out again and went to guard the entrance for Dmitri. A well timed strike would be quicker than me taking the time to aim a bow. The children and teens in the cages didn't make a sound - just looked at the walls, a mixture of terror and sadness on their faces. No doubt they had been there an extensive amount of time. Once we'd taken care of the other people, freed the Khajiit and Nord, I'll make sure we come back and free the others. Ensure that they had somewhere to go. All is quiet, except for the footsteps that were getting farther and farther away. They have not been alarmed yet.

Dmitri didn't even bother climbing. He just grabbed the rope and slid down.
"Stay quiet," he said to the teens in the cages, "We will be back soon. We will set you free," he assured them then shot each of the wolves in the other cage, retrieved his arrows from all the bodies he could and then stepped forwards, taking the lead again and walking down the passageway.
After about five minutes they came to another chamber that was almost like a small colosseum. There was a hollowed out circle in the center of the chamber about ten feet deep. The Nord boy lay face down on the ground with a wolf digging into his body. The khajiit girl was huddling on one side of the circle, as far away as possible from the scene and she had a small dagger clutched tightly in one hand.
The two men who had dragged them to the arena were standing on either side of an absolutely massive Orc who was wearing a set of ebony armor and he had a great sword made of Stahlriim leaning against the throne he sat upon. The only area of his body that didn't seem to be protected was his head, and at this distance it would be a hard hit for Dmitri.
"I wish I had my crossbow," he mumbled and pulled out two spheres from his little satchel at his waist and rolled them both across the floor. They fell off the edge of the floor and into the arena, where they unfolded into Dwarven spheres.
"What in oblivion?!" the Orc cried out in rage, "What are those and why are they here?!"
Dmitri's voice answered that question as an arrow pierced the neck of the man the Orc was talking to. "Spheres! Protect the girl! Kill anyone who tries to harm her!" he ordered. The dwarven automatons immediately went to work, killing the wolves and the few bandits who had entered the arena to deal with them. Dmitri put his bow on his back and pulled out his battle axe then charged forwards with a war cry like no other.

At least they gave her a dagger... It's better than nothing, though that obviously didn't do that young man much good. About fifteen other men were in the room. Given my anger on the situation, I could take them all on bare handed. After Dmitri releases the Spheres, I run forward and impale the first man who bars my way, sword slicing easily through the soft tissue of his unprotected stomach. "Kill those two!" One of the heavily armored Orc's bodyguards cry. This causes a few to draw swords, maces and daggers charging at us with shocked and scared expressions upon their faces. One was brandishing, of all things, a wooden spoon - as if that would even do damage to a pup. The Spheres are doing a good job of making sure that no harm comes to the Khajiit girl. Actually, the bandits aren't even bothering with her anymore. They're much more worried about us. "I'll see your path to Oblivion paved!" I yell as the next one rushes to challenge me. Nothing but pure anger flows through my veins.

The big orc was dead before he could really react. The green-skinned head was rolling on the floor and Dmitri was a whirlwind of fur and axe. He became one with the heavy axe and soon most of the bandits lay dead around him.
"Sick... Sick bastards..." he mumbled then made his way towards the arena and he chopped the door off of its hinges and jumped down into the pit then walked towards the girl and his two spheres. He made them retract into their apple-size spheres and he put them back into the bag then removed his helmet and knelt down in front of the cat.
"Hey... It's okay," he removed a glove and gently rested his hand on her shoulder, "You're safe now..." he whispered soothingly.
She cringed away for a moment then threw her arms around his armored body and cried ini his shoulder while Dmitri whispered soothing things.
"Sinia," he said after a while, "Get the key from one of them and let out the other children."

"Of course..." I wipe the blood off my sword and put it away, not really bothering to notice the fact that the rest of my armor has no small amount of blood on it. One of the few times I've really let people suffer and bleed out. I only had to search two of the bodies before finding the key to the cages. Well, I hoped they were to the cages. The sooner they're free, the better. I start off walking but end up going into a jog down the hall. It took about two minutes. "I'm freeing all of you, all I ask is that you stay close to me." I say as I unlock the first cage. A Bosmer of maybe twelve stepped out of the cage, wearing nothing but ragged clothes. He was obviously dehydrated and deprived of any food. The next one held a young Nord in her mid teens. "Thank you ma'am," She said in a very gratefully tone upon exiting her prison. I merely nod, still shaken up from the thought of what these people had the nerve of participating in. There were ten more cages, each containing one person. Not one was over the age of sixteen. They mostly consisted of Nords, Khajiits and Wood Elves. I can't really think of why this would be. "What happened to Andrel and Idhara?" One of the Wood Elves asks. I have to think a moment. Of course their names are not known by me. "If Idhara's the Khajiit, she's alive. We arrived too late for the other one." The tone in the room darkened greatly. They were undoubtedly saddened by the passing of their friend. In a place like this, you end up associating with the other prisoners and become great friends with them. After a moment of silence, I motion for them to follow me back through the hall that would go to the small colosseum.

Dmitri came out of the hall with the khajiit girl right behind him, "Come on, let's go back up," he said quietly and led the way for all of them. He picked up the khajiit girl who had been hung on his way out and then exited the cave entirely.
"May this never happen again," he mumbled and started walking again, "Sinia, are you a good hunter? Or would you rather watch them all tonight while I find something to eat?" he asked without looking back at her. He only occasionally glanced back to make sure the group of 13 or so were still following him. The khajiit girl was the closest, almost stepping on his heels with her bare, furry toes.

I whisper quietly, "Kind of glad I suggested coming here..." I didn't want to know that this kind of thing happens, but I'm glad we were there to stop it. "I can go and hunt something for them. It won't take too long, I know a good spot close by." There's a large clearing not half a mile away that's teeming with deer. Dmitri would be able to get water from the river for them, and that should keep them going until I brought something down. "We'll also need to escort them to their homes once they're ready."

"We're all form traveling groups... They ambushed our carts or whatever on our way down the trail," a nord boy said quietly, "They... they killed our parents and just took us..." he looked down at the ground.
"It's alright. We'll keep you saef and make sure you all get to the orphanage," Dmitri said reassuringly, "I became an orphan too, when I turned 16. It wasn't a good experience for me," he sighed, "But, I became strong. I hope you all don't need to do what I did, but to those of you who are strong enough, I recommend joining the Legion. It's better than being trapped in an orphanage," he said.
After a few hours of walking, Dmitri veered off to the side and led them to a clearing then took a head count , "Alright, Sinia, you go hunting," he said, "I'll go get some water for all of you. I'll be right back. The river is just on the other side of the path and down the hill," he reminded them as he disappeared into the trees. The khajiit girl who he had rescued from the cage followed silently after him.

"You'll make it. I'm very sorry for your loss, but believe me, there is so much out there. Much of it is terrible. Much of it is beautiful. You must find a profession that balances both of these things and make the best of it. An overabundance of terror will make you depressed and paranoid. Too much luxury turns you selfish. Keep that in mind, and you'll be a great person." My thoughts on the legion are kind of mixed. I half like them, half hate them... For my own reasons. Same goes for the Stormcloaks. I sigh, and add, "Whatever you do, don't let this experience stick with you. Even if you aren't aware of it, it'll tear you apart. Focus on the present. Many people learn that the hard way. Don't make that mistake." I just want to help these kids. I'm not the best at comfort, but I can give a good bit of wisdom.
I give a small nod and walk off when Dmitri asks me to, taking out my bow and going off where I knew the hunting was best. I lived off the wilderness, most times. After maybe fifteen minutes of walking, I recognize the vast amounts of foliage that hinted that this is the spot where deer made their home. I know their patterns - they're going to come out ten hours before dusk, and then return to their beds three hours after dawn. Meaning, they'll be up and about by now. I conceal myself in the bushes - if they even qualify as that - downwind of a grove of Juniper trees. I waited there an hour. Hunting takes patience, and lots of it. A mature doe cautiously approaches the trees, and after deeming it safe, grazes on the fallen berries. She's broadside. I draw the bow back slowly and aim right behind the shoulder, letting the arrow fly when it's aimed properly. She bolts off in an instant, falling around twenty yards away. The arrow did a direct pass through and lodged itself in a tree, coated in bright red blood - this signified a heart or lung shot. No gut on it. I give her a few minutes to breathe her last breaths and go over to her, taking our a small dagger and slicing the white belly open. Once the insides are removed, and the inner cavity free of blood, I take the skin off. Given the circumstances, I cut only the front two legs and the backstraps and wrap it in the pelt to keep it clean. It'll be enough.

Dmitri had come back long before Sinia returned and they were all sitting around a campfire. Dmitri was telling them all of his experiences in battles and of the dwarven ruins he had explored. One of his dwarven spheres was unfolded and sitting there patiently, watching the children and allowing for it's body to be examined. Further off, wrapped up in linen, the dead cat girl was laying out flat on her back, her entire body aside from her feet covered. There had only been enough to cover down to her ankles.
The 14 year old khajiit girl was asleep against Dmitri's side and he had changed into more comfortable clothes. His armor was stacked neatly next to the dwarven sphere and his arm was wrapped around the younger feline.
"And then the centurion spotted me..." he was saying as he saw Sinia approach, "Oh, hello!" he waved to her, making all of the youths turn to look at her, "I trust you've caught dinner?" he asked.

"Hello again - did you say something about Centurions? Now those are the worst." I smile and set the pelt down, nodding when Dmitri asked about catching dinner. "This should be more than enough. And I'm assuming you don't want it raw?" Raw meat was fine with me, though that is... well, to be expected. Other people prefer it cooked. I notice the young Khajiit had been wrapped in linen. That, and the cold, should keep her until we can transport her to the Riften Hall of the Dead. "Oh, and no fighting over the backstraps please." I've seen people do that. Not pretty.

I don't want to wake her..." Dmitri said and gently combed his fingers through the girl's hair as she adjusted herself a little bit against his side.

"Sure," I felt bad for the girl. She must have been terrified. Well, here's a chance to try using the flame spell and not blow everything up. That doesn't happen as much as it used to, thankfully. I walk off into the nearby forest and start gathering kindling, tinder and a small log that had been lying around. This took a total of ten minutes. I go back, setting the tinder on the bottom, kindling in the middle, and the larger piece of wood on top, using the twigs to support it and let it breathe. A few rocks surrounded it. Don't want the fire spreading... It took me a minute, but I got the fire started without destroying everything. I take some of the forked twigs and stick them in the ground, then placing other twigs over them to create a type of grille. It would have to work. After unwrapping and slicing the venison, I put it on the makeshift grille and sit down on the ground. The fire had grown a bit by now, all we have to do is wait.

Dmitri watched as she prepared the meat and licked his lips as the smell arrived at his sensitive nostrils.
"Mmm~" he purred and watched as the meat slowly turned from red to brown. "That smells great~" he cooed.
The khajiit girl had woken up by now, the potent smell of grilled venison having been enough to jostle her out of her sleep and Dmitri grabbed his dagger from his waist and started to slice into the meat. After making sure it was cooked thoroughly, he sliced it up and passed it around to each of the teens then burnt some in honor of the Nord boy who had been thrown to the wolves and the khajiit girl who had been hung.
He cut meat for himself and for Sinia last and started eating it with his fingers.

((Ahh! Sorry! Well, that's what I get for typing this with one hand and marking up my bell music with the other .3. I should really stop doing that. Umm... *looks at hand* *throws pen across room* .-. you saw nothing.))
Sinia
The venison was of course tough, having not been given the chance to sit out for a week or so. That was the average amount of time to let it sit before skinning and quartering the animal. I'm guessing Dmitri burned some of the meat as a kind of offering to the two who had wrongly been killed. I'm sure there had been more - but those were the only two we were certain of. I ate the meat with my hands, looking up at the stars almost the entire time. They've always fascinated me. Had I not chosen this path, studying the heavens would have definitely been my first choice. A roar brings my attention back to ground level. It sounds like a dragon. Too far away to even spot us, so I'm not worried. "It's alright, the thing's probably miles off."

Dmitri looked up at the sky too and nibbled on his meat.
"Stupid dragons. I wear their bones..." he muttered and glanced over at his armor. He took out three more small dwarven spheres and let them unfold to their normal size so that there were four watching over them.
"What's going to happen to us?" the khajiit teen sole for the first time since Sinia and Dmitri had rescued her and the others.
"You'll probably be adopted at some point," Dmitri said, though he found he was growing attached to this one and he pulled her close to his side.
