It had been many years since Melina had seen any of the human that use to live in the nearby village, so she decided it would be good to walk around in the village to see if she could figure out why they had all disappeared. She had already told Gorn that she would be doing that and now she was here. It looked as though most of the houses that were there had been burned but still stand. She heard what sounded like a child crying not far away. She switched into her human from and found the small child, looking quite young and helpless. She could see that the child was pointing at what looked like the charred remains of adult humans. She picked the child up into her arms and gently rocked it as she walked out of the burned home. She was surprised that there was humans still left and that the child was still alive, while the parents had died in a fire. She could see that there was only ash on the child's small body. "Oh goodness. The poor thing's parents must have died." She thought as the child, she believed to be female, had fallen asleep in her arms.
Gorn had gone to hunting, he sniffed, a bit as he had decided to hunt near the village remains. He trusted that no humans remained there and quickly grabbed enough food for the two of them. He roared loudly to let her know food would be back in the cave when she was ready to return.
The large dragon was careful to not knock over any trees, knowing there were animals that lived in them "Melina! We will need to knock over the building remains soon to let the forest expand!" He called out in his bellowing voice.

Melina could hear that Gorn was nearby, but she couldn't really reply to him because she was in her human from. She saw that he was in the village and decided that it would be alright to go to him, even in this from. She gently tapped his foot, hoping that it would get his attention. "Gorn!!" She called up to him, trying not to be too loud to not wake up the little girl sleeping in her arms.
Gorn looks down and shifts, the deer he'd killed left on the ground "You found a living human.." He wasn't happy but he wouldn't harm a child. He leans in and kisses her gently "My love, do you want to raise it then?" He'd ask gently.
He may not care for the humans but he loved her enough to try to be gentle with the young human.

Melina looked at the child sleeping in her arms and nodded. "Yes, we can't just leave out here to die. I had found this young girl in one of the charred homes, crying and pointing at what I believe were the ashed of her parents." She knew that Gorn did not care much for humans, she understood why, but she couldn't dear let a child die out here.
Gorn rubs her arm gently "Well I'll shift back and carry you home love... I love you Melina." He smiled gently and shifts back to his dragon form, picking up the food and letting her up onto his back "What will you name it dear?" He asked as he was down where he could hear her.
The larger dragon was actually being gentler than he would have in the past and had at least not gotten angry about the human being brought back.

"I love you too Gornerak." Melina smiled back at him then gently kissed his cheek before he shifted back into his dragon from. It wasn't as hard as she thought it would be to get on his back with the child in her arms. She didn't know what to name the little girl. She looked at the girl's features, noticing that the child had beautiful blonde hair that almost looked gold. "How about Daisy?" The little girl's golden hair reminded her of the petals of a daisy.
Gorn blinks "That will do, it is one that no humans will think that she is a dragon's youngling." He flew upto their home "More humans will come, but I think it will be best to let you raise the youngling as at least she'll have respect for our kind." When he landed he lowered down so she could get off his back "Shall I cook some of the meat for her?" He asked gently.
Melina smiled at him and held on as he flew up into the air. "The real question is to as why, because all the homes that are left are burned almost completely and if there are any bodies, they are too far charred to recognize." She said as he landed, getting off of his back while still holding the child. "If you don't mind. Human's seem to have such a sensitive and weak immune system compare to ours when it comes to raw food." She said as Daisy began to open her eyes.
Gorn took one of the deer up off the ground "How much should I prepare her love?" He blinks "They come because it is what they do." He sliced off some and breathed fire on a part of the floor to cook the meat "I would only do this for you Melina. I am happy with you and we will watch as humans return in a bit of time."
"Not too much, she is so small and I don't think she could eat a lot." Daisy woke up and looked at Gorn then pointed at him. "Dragon!" She said happily, clearly not scared of him. Melina smiled at him when she did that. "Looks like her parents didn't get a chance to fill her mind with stories about how horrible dragons are." She said then gently kissed her forehead.
Gorn nods and lets the deer cook, shifting into his human form. He kissed Melina and looks to the little one "They generally don't do so until the child is old enough in their mind..." He smiles to Melina lovingly and sniffed a little bit "I'll give it a little more time."
Melina smiled at Gorn. "Then it is good I found her because now we can teach her that dragons aren't as evil as other's believe." Daisy wiggled out of Melina's arms and walked over to Gorn and held her arms out to him. She had an innocent look in her eyes, it didn't even look like that she had been crying just earlier.
Gorn lifts her up "Yes Daisy?" He asked, he wasn't used to humans not fearing him, well except for the old man but he hadn't known why he didn't. Gorn looked to Melina questioningly, not exactly sure what to do. He sniffed and pulled the meat off the hot cave floor then offered it to Daisy.
Melina giggled at him, seeing how confused he looked on what do. "She just wanted you to hold her. You are going to need to cut it up so she can eat it." She said, smiling at Gorn.
Gorn looks around and thinks for a second before setting Daisy down and getting a knife, cutting the meat up. He went back and took up an old looking plate, setting the meat on it and sitting to offer it to the young human "Here you go." He reached out to rub Melina's hand gently.
Daisy began to eat the food that Gorn papered for her. "Thank chu!" She said to him with a bright smile. Melina gently lanced her fingers with his, smiling at him.
Gorn gets up and kisses her lovingly "Well I will wait to eat till she's done as I'm not sure how she'd deal with our style of eating..." He slips his arms around his mate and smiles gently "You know I will be watching the village for signs of people coming to repopulate the area for a whille..." He rubs her back gently and smiles to her.
Melina kissed him back and smiled at him. "That would be a good idea." She said, laying her head on his shoulder. "Well, it would be a good idea to destroy the remains of the homes so they can't try to rebuild them with the remaining materials."
Gorn blinks "I don't think they can use them. The homes are quite burnt. I don't know how the new humans would react to us anyway." He nuzzles Melina lightly while she had her head on his shoulder "I will slowly get used to the little one..."
