Zoe was glad that she was able to get him up in time for his stop, but she couldn't forget the adorable smile he gave her before he left, even if he was still half asleep. She didn't even get a chance to say goodbye but she did smile before he left. It wasn't long till the bus came to her stop, which at this point, there were only three kids left on the bus. She quickly got her things together and got off the bus. She quickly headed home, unlocking the front door and walking into her empty home. She sighed, locked the door back, and headed up to her room. It was still the way she had left, the only difference was where her cat, Mr. Fluffy, was sleeping. "I'm home, Mr. Fluffy!" She said as she put her backpack down and started petting the fluffy cat that was curled up on her bed. She loved that cat so much, it was the only cat she ever had and it had been with her since she was a baby, growing up with her, but now he was fully grown. She loved that cat dearly, what was funny was that they shared a birthday, he was the only surviving litter of kittens that her neighbor had and her eldest sister picked him up a couple weeks after Zoe was born. She had treasured that cat dearly, he meant a lot to her.

Rookson walked inside of the orphanage and was greeted by the other orphans, the older ones were still out doing things, and the caretakers were getting groceries. He walked up stairs to his room and set his book-bag down on his bed, and opened it up. He immediately started his homework, and finished fairly quickly. Rookson put away his things and set them up for him to get them in the morning. He proceeded to do his daily workout routine, and finished after about 45 minutes later. He took a quick shower and went back into his room, closed the door, and plopped onto his bed and fell asleep. Rookson loved his naps, he usually got up around dinner time, and went to bed around 10ish, or would stay up longer sometimes and look at the stars. Rookson softly mumbled to himself in his sleep, and dreamed about how tomorrow would be like at school with Zoe.

Zoe stopped petting Mr. Fluffy and went to her desk with her backpack in her hand. She pulled out her homework and started working on it. She finished it pretty quickly, then decided to finish her painting that she was working on last night. By the time she was half way done, three of her sisters came home. They were the one's in middle school, each one in a different grade. Since Zoe was the last to be born, she was a couple years younger than the rest. The older of all the sisters went as Diane, the eldest, Jessica, Tressa, Jade, Rosemary, and then Zoe, a told of six daughters. Zoe didn't mind being the youngest of them all, she didn't really have anything in common with her sisters so she just stayed away from them when she could.

Rookson was still sound asleep, having pleasant dreams. The older orphans had gotten back from school, both middle and high-schoolers. Three of the older guys had ran up stairs to greet Rookson. They usually expected him to be asleep, and usually he was, so they always got the drop on him. The three walked into the room and two of them held him down, while the last one began to tickle him. Rookson was rudely awoken from his sleep, and began laughing and struggling against his captors. He was very strong for his age, but he was still to young to actually be able to defend himself against the three. Rookson, kept laughing and begging for them to stop, and eventually they let go of him. Rookson and the three smiled at each other, and one of the three asked him how school was, and he filled them in on everything. He went into great detail about Zoe, and how great of a friend she was, even though he just met her today. Before, the three could respond the dinner bell hand rang, and they all raced each other down the stairs, but Rookson was picked up by one of the three and rushed downstairs. The caretakers wanted to have the orphans grow up to be big and strong, and they got discounts at all the grocery stores so they had plenty of food. Rookson finished eating and helped with the dishes, his job was to dry the dishes. After, having eaten he ran up to his room and looked at the clock, it was only 7:00, he thought about going outside into the woods, but for some reason he got the idea that he should find out where Zoe lives and go there.

Zoe rarely went out into the woods, so it would be hard to figure out where she lived. The other two sisters came home from high school not long after the middle school ones. She went down stairs to greet all of them, going to their rooms and saying hi. The eldest was the one Zoe liked the most, because she was always nice to Zoe and asked her about her day and helped her with her painting. She went into Diane's room, smiling at her sister. "Hello Diane!" She said, sitting down on Diane's bed. Diane asked about Zoe's day and Zoe told her everything, a lot about how much fun she had on the swing set with Rookie. She told her sister everything, it was always a lot of fun to talk to her sister. It wasn't long until six o'clock came and they all had to work on making dinner. It was kind of ironic how the best cook of the house was Rosemary, since she was named after a herb used in many dishes. Zoe usually did help out, by setting the table and all that. Their parents didn't usually come home till late in the day, when the sun had already set and it became close to bed time. They always saved some dinner for them though, and just ate together at the table and chatted. Even though Zoe was the quiet one, she was just fine with listening and seeing how her sisters's day was. Once dinner was done, Zoe helped put the dishes in the dish washer then got into the shower. She was always the first one because her bed time was earlier than the other five.

Rookson went into the bathroom and brushed his teeth, then went down stairs to ask the caretakers something. He asked them where all the people with lots of money live, and how far away it was. They told him that it was 20 minutes away, and said what street it was on, and immediately asked him why afterwards. He simply said that he was just curious, but they reminded him that he should not go out alone, and that it's already bad that he goes out into the woods every night. Rookson went up stairs and sat down in his bed, thinking to himself, he could get there in about 2 hours if he wanted to, and he knew all of the street names in at least a 10 mile radius. He decided it was best not to go, at least for now, maybe he would be able to at a later date. He rested his head on his pillow and stared at the clock until it was around 9ish before he closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Zoe took a quick shower then went to her room, changed into her pj's and was about to get ready to slip into bed when she heard the front door open and her dad call each one of her sisters' names and her's. They all hurried down to see what was going on, curious but the same thought all ran through their mind.
Are we moving again?
That is the last thing Zoe wanted to happen at this point but she knew it would happen some day. Her dad looked at each of their faces, a sour look on his own. With a large sigh he said. "We have to move again. I know I said we could hopefully stay a month here but they want us to move to another town ASAP, we have a week to pack our things and head out. We have to go to New York City, I'm sorry girls." He said with a heavy sigh, their mother was right next to him, not saying a word.
Zoe felt tears whelm up in her eyes and she shook her head. "No, no no no no!" She said loudly before running off to her room. This was the first time she had been able to make a new friend and they had to move away in a week. She hated this so much now, at least this time she could tell Rookie goodbye at school.

The next morning Rookson woke up, and turned his alarm clock off. He walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower before brushing his teeth. He dried his hair, and it naturally formed in its spiky and wild appearance. He put on new clothes that looked exactly the same as yesterdays and tucked his necklace under his shirt. He ate breakfast and watched cartoons on T.V. while he waited for the bus to arrive. He would be able to see it coming through the window.

That morning Zoe woke up, but her eyes were still bloodshot from all the crying she had done last night. She couldn't remember when she fell asleep, but she still felt the wetness of tears on her cheeks as she sighed. Her maid had already woken her up and picked a bright dress, but this time it was a normal yellow sun dress. She got dressed and then the maid tied her hair back in a ponytail on the crown of her head. She went down stairs and quickly grabbed something to eat, and put her stuff together. She then headed out the door and went to the bus stop, where the rest of the kids waited and saw the bus coming. Since she was the last stop, it was always a hassle to find a seat on the bus in the mornings.

Since Rookson was before Zoe, he had found a seat and saved a spot beside him for Zoe. He sat next to the window this time, and stared outside of it, in deep thought. Eventually the bus stopped off at Zoe's residence, Rookson had paid attention the whole-time, and he knew how to get here now. Her house looked very large, and expensive, so did the other neighboring houses. Rookson waved to Zoe when she stepped onto the bus, he gave a weak drowsy smile, and he didn't look all that energetic in the mornings.

Zoe saw Rookie and tried to fight back the tears coming to her eyes as she thought that she would have to leave him behind. She sat down next to him, wishing the maid let her hair stay down so that would cover her face because she could feel the tears coming to her eyes again. Even as a child, she rarely cried because her dad would always tell her that it was a sign of weakness and she needed to be strong. She didn't say anything.

Rookson smiled as she approached him and sat down. His smile slowly faded when he saw that she had tears in her eyes. His face turned from confusion, to worry very quickly. He faced Zoe turning himself towards her. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, and asked, "W-what's wrong?...", he said in a very sad tone. He was frowning now, something that Rookson rarely did, and it didn't go away this time. He was confused though, he didn't know why she was like this.

Zoe could tell that he noticed the tears in her eyes and she looked up at him then down at the ground. "I have to move." She said with a sad sigh. She felt the tears roll down her cheeks and she started to try to wipe them away. She hated crying, so she was trying feverishly to get rid of the ones that were falling from her once bright brown eyes that were now dull.

Rookson, sat there for a while trying to register what she meant. He looked at her and shook his head, "But....I don't want you.....", he frowned and looked down, but quickly smiled. Feeling bad would only make the situation worse. He grabbed Zoe's wrists gently and pulled them away from her face, so she could see him smiling brightly. His deep blue eyes had the same if not more happiness and hope in them when you first saw them. He said, "It's okay....Don't cry...You don't have to move right now...", he smiled again at her. He was trying his hardest to make her as happy as possible. His dark and wild hair danced around him, being as free and happy as he was, and his deep blue eyes shimmered with hope.

Zoe was surprised when he grabbed her wrists, making her look up at him to see him smiling brightly and see the hope in his eyes but she didn't know why. She listened to what he said then smiled slightly, wiping away another tear. "Yeah. I don't have to move till the end of the week." She said with a smile then, without realizing it, she had wrapped her small arms around Rookie, in a hug. She really liked being around him and didn't want it to end but she was glad that they still had some time to be around each other.

Rookson, blushed when she wrapped her arms around him. His eyes widened in surprise and his mouth stood slightly opened, eventually he wrapped his own around her too. Rookson liked being around Zoe too, she was possibly the best friend he has ever met. He wrapped his arms around Zoe as well and said, "Don't worry....Even when you do leave...We will see each other again.....I promise", Like when he told Zoe that nothing bad would happen when he pushed her at the swing, this promise was just as sincere.

"R-Really?" Zoe said, sniffling. She really believed Rookie, that one day they would meet again, she didn't know when but she knew one day they would meet again, which was all she needed. She buried her face in his chest, holding on to him tightly. He was one of the best friends she had, it had been so long since she had a friend as nice as Rookie was to her.

Rookson, smiled at Zoe, he completely meant what he said, and he believed that they would meet again one day as well. Rookson held on to her tight as well and let her bury her head into him. He felt happy around Zoe, there was just something so right about her. Rookson nodded and said, "I promise...", he would remember this day for the rest of his life, and even think back to it on many days, he wouldn't forget the time, no matter how short it was, that he spent with Zoe.
