Aeryn jumped slightly when Altair put his hand over hers, and blushed when she realized she was scarfing down her food. She laid down her fork and took her napkin, wiping her mouth politely. She felt rude asking about what business he had, but was curious to know he did all day. She decided to not pry and instead asked, "Do you have any family?". She inwardly scolded herself again, that was prying too. She paused to take a drink, doubting he would reply to such a bold question, she was technically his property after all. She often got herself in trouble with the men who worked for the slave trader, doing things she did not know she was not supposed to do. In fact even in town, when she would get to see it once a week, people often got offended by even just a glance. Things were a lot more complicated in this place, and Aeryn learned very fast to watch her actions and words.
Altair did not seem disturbed by the question at all. "Hm? Oh, no, I do not. My parents have passed away, and I haven't married." He ate calmly, not bothered at all by the question. He had told her she could ask them to her heart's content. "Is the food good, Aeryn? Is there anything you especially like to eat, any flavors or meats or fruits?" He finished his own meal and leaned back, listening to the pace at which she ate to make sure that she didn't get sick. "Would you like to go on a tour after you're finished eating, or would you prefer to get some rest?" He certainly was a lot different than a normal slaver. Mainly because he wasn't a slaver at all. He only had gotten her because he needed some help maneuvering outside of the house. If it weren't for that, he wouldn't be in the slave business at all.

Aeryn glanced up when he answered her, "I'm sorry to hear about your parents." she said softly. "The food is very good, thank you." she answered in reply to his question, "I like all fruits and vegetables. Anything is really better than nothing at all.." she gave a small laugh, finishing her last bite. She glanced up again when he asked her what she wanted to do next, she wasn't used to choices. "A tour would be fine, you have a very..fancy home." she said thoughtfully, glancing around at the dining room that was just as stunning the rest of the house. Everything shined, and she could see her reflection on almost everything.
Altair nodded slightly. "Indeed. It will be a good amount of work, keeping it all clean, but it won't be hard or dangerous." He smiled and stood up. "Alright. I'll have Waltson show you around, I have some things to take care of. Let me know if you need anything." He smiled at her. "Have a good night, Aeryn." And with that, he left. It took only a moment before Waltson was there. "Are you ready for the tour, miss?"
If she agreed, then a tour would be given! There were a few guest bedrooms, a library, a couple sitting rooms and a room for table games to be played, and many other various rooms. He showed her the kitchen and the pantry and the cellar, and the closet that held all the cleaning supplies. He even showed Aeryn Altair's bedroom, which was quite clean. "You will be expected to strip the sheets and wash them every morning after the master is up. He will show you how to do everything tomorrow, as will I, but I want you to know that you will indeed be in here doing chores." The tour would end at her bedroom door. "Any questions?"

Aeryn nodded, watching Altair leave. She smiled slightly, she was growing rather fond of his company. He had helped her so much and in so many ways she felt like she was in debt to him. Soon enough Waltson arrived and the tour began, Aeryn did her best to keep track of where every place was since the mansion seemed rather large and confusing to her. She listened to Waltsons every word, she was rather sharp when it came to instructions.

When the tour ended at her door she thought she had a pretty good understanding of everything, and where everything was. Aeryn looked up at Waltson and gave him a small smile, "Thank you, you have been quite informative..I hope I won't disappoint." she said softly. "I guess this is goodnight then, it is getting rather late." In truth, Aeryn was exhausted, but she put on a strong face. She reached out and opened the door, looking into the room that awaited her. She was still waiting to wake up from this dream, everything felt so surreal to her. She gave her goodnight's to Waltson and entered her room, closing the door behind her. She walked slowly over to the bed, letting a hand trace a long the soft fabric as she walked along the side of the bed. Aeryn then flopped onto the bed, hugging a pillow tight as she closed her eyes, a single tear sliding across her cheek. For once she could sleep in peace.

(Sorry about the late reply, had work and then computer malfunctions D:)
Waltson bid her goodnight, then left. Aeryn's peaceful rest didn't last the entire night, though. Sometime in the late hours, there was a loud noise and the house shook slightly. There was the noise of rather loud cursing, and suddenly Waltson opened her door. "The master has ordered that you stay in your room. All is well, worry not. It was just a..." The man searched for the correct words. "Malfunction. But there are no problems now, so the master would like if you could return to your rest." He closed the door then. Well, that was certainly interesting. The cursing had stopped, or at least quieted, and Waltson's footsteps had hurried off to probably help with whatever had 'malfunctioned'.

Aeryn awoke to the her bed and room shaking, panic overtaking her as she heard cursing. She sprung out of bed as Waltson entered her room telling her to remain inside. She nodded, sitting back down on the bed as Waltson left to attend to whatever was going on. Aeryn frowned slightly, laying back down. Once the noises stopped and the mansion fell quiet again, she found it hard to fall back asleep. She tossed and turned, falling in and out of consciousness, her dreams coming in flashes. She saw her mother and her sister, smiling as they stood, then slowly they faded into a darkness. She found herself crying out for them, but unable to reach them. Aeryn thrashed around in her bed, as she fought to get to her mother and sister. The closer she got, the further out of reach they got. She could feel tears welling up in her eyes as her mother waved to her, and whispered 'goodbye'.

Aeryn awoke with a sob, her heart racing as she tried to distinguish reality from dream. Her room was lit up from the mornings sun, shining in through the windows. She lifted her hands to her face, wiping away the tears that blurred her vision. She glanced around the room, reality making its way back to her. Aeryn frowned some before glancing out the window, looking out over the horizon as the sun rose. A small sigh escaped her lips as she got up from her bed and changed, getting ready for the day ahead of her and putting her horrible dream aside.
Waltson soon knocked upon her door, and when he answered he led her to the dining room. Altair was just sitting down, and upon hearing the footsteps, lifted his head to 'look' at her. "Good morning, Aeryn. Thank you Waltson, you are dismissed." The man gave a slight bow and left, then Altair gestured to a seat. "Please, sit down. Breakfast was just set out, so go ahead and eat what you wish." He smiled and started eating his plate, which was already filled with food from the various dishes on the table. His was pre-prepared because of his 'condition'. "Did you sleep well, Aeryn?" Aside from the disturbance, which he interestingly didn't even mention. Maybe he was avoiding it.

Still, he just ate his meal. "After breakfast, I'll go through your duties with you and show you how a normal day is going to be. I'll walk you through it for the first couple days, but then you'll have to be on your own. If you ever have questions or just forget something, please ask myself or Waltson. There is no repercussion for asking for help if you forget. I would much rather you ask and get it right than guess and get it wrong."

Aeryn had just finished dressing when Waltson knocked on the door, and she followed him down to the dining room. Her eyes were only slightly puffy and red from crying in her sleep, and she was glad that even if Waltson did notice, he didn't ask about it. They met Altair at the dining room and Aeryn took a seat as Waltson dismissed himself. She looked at the food sitting before her on the table, finding she had no appetite. She settled for nibbling on a piece of toast, she didn't want to seem rude. Aeryn barely heard Altair ask how she slept, lost in her thoughts. "Oh!" she replied, snapping back to reality. "I slept alright." she said, having forgot about the disturbance the night before due to her dream that had her troubled.

Aeryn listened as Altair explained what the duties for the day would be, doing her best to pay attention. "Understood, I'll be sure to ask if I forget anything." she said softly, taking another bite of her toast. She forced down the rest of the toast, and then took a drink of some milk that was in a glass in front of her. She set the glass down back on the table, looking over at Altair "I don't think I can eat much more, perhaps I over did it at dinner last night" she chuckled slightly, not wanting him to worry.
Altair ate calmly, watching her aura and listening to her. "Hmm." He paused for a moment and put his fork down. "Aeryn, it's only been one day. I understand you may have some problems with trust given your background, but you really shouldn't lie on the first day, it doesn't give a good impression." He pointed at her with his fork. "Never underestimate the interpretive capabilities of an aura-seer, girl. You're obviously troubled by something, and the tone in your voice is far from what it was yesterday. And it doesn't match the tone of one who isn't feeling well. It's the tone of someone troubled." He put his fork down again. "Tell me, what's on your mind?"

Aeryn blinked as she looked at Altair, his gift was quite amazing. He could see right through her, and she felt awful for hiding it. "I'm sorry.." she whispered, frowning as she lowered her head. "I just had a dream about my mother and sister..I didn't want you to worry..I often have nightmares.." she said, glancing up at him. He looked concerned, "I don't think it was a vision.." she clarified, though she did have her doubts. The way her mother had said goodbye to her had shook her to the core, it had felt so real.

Aeryn frowned as she slightly shook her head, "It's really nothing to worry about right now.." she said, lifting a hand and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She then reached over to grab her glass but when her fingers went to touch the glass, it suddenly wasn't there. She blinked, noticing she was not in the dining room at all. "A-Altair?" she called out, her voice catching in her throat as she looked around frantically. Suddenly there were shadows in front of her, and she felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up. They were whispering to each other, and Aeryn had a hard time making out what they were saying. Suddenly the shadows seemed to all take notice of her, and whispers filled her head. "He will die~" repeated in her head, getting louder and louder, causing Aeryn to clutch her ears, trying to block out the sound. She squeezed her eyes shut, whimpering slightly as the whispers only grew louder and echoed through her mind. Then suddenly it stopped, and when she opened up her eyes she was back in the dining room. She let her hands fall from her ears, as she looked up at very concerned looking Altair.
Altair was by her side in a moment when her aura faded into one of fear and she called his name. What concerned him the most was how prominent that white aura of magic had gotten around her. She was having a vision, she had to be. That amount of white in her aura hadn't been there before, though it was very much mixed with fear. When Aeryn finally came back to reality, he would be beside her, his hand on her shoulder. "Aeryn. I'm here. What happened?" He rubbed her shoulder gently, trying to calm her. "It's okay, everything's okay. Did you have a vision? That's what it seemed like with your aura. You don't have to tell me what it was about if you don't want to. But everything's okay, alright? Don't worry."

Aeryn swallowed hard, her hands shaking slightly. "Y-yes..a vision..this was new..I heard voices this time..whispers.." she said, her voice shaking as well. She looked into Altair's face, was he in danger? She frowned slightly, looking into his cloudy eyes as she wondered who the whispers were talking about. Aeryn could feel her heart pounding in her chest and took a deep breath trying to calm down. She worried for Altair now, and she felt the urge to protect him. He was like her in a way, both of them having a special gift.

"I'm alright, I'm not sure what it was about..my visions are never clear..there were shadows, whispering..I couldn't tell what they were whispering among themselves." Aeryn said softly, closing her eyes as he rubbed her shoulder. It was rather calming, and soon her hands were no longer trembling. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause you concern..I just never experienced a vision like that, normally they happen in my dreams.." she frowned some, wondering about the sudden change.

(Sorry for the late reply, had work and then computer malfunctions. All squared away now!)
(It's fine! My day has been super busy, I didn't get back to my room for like ten hours straight lol. It's late now, but I'll post tomorrow when I can. Like I said in a thread I made recently, it's been kind of busy for me lately so my posting may be a tad sporadic)
Altair listened carefully, then nodded a little. "Hmm. Well, it's alright. It will make sense in due time, don't worry about it." He smiled gently. "I understand, it's alright. If anything, it's a cause for celebration because it seems like your capabilities are being strengthened. It may not make sense now, the vision, but I'm sure it will in time. You never need to apologize for these things, they are beyond your control." He patted her shoulder and then let go. "Feel better?"

Aeryn smiled slightly, "Yes, thank you." she chuckled slightly, looking down at her hands folded in her lap. "I feel like I'm in a dream, I'm constantly wondering when I'm going to wake up. You're so kind.." she said softly, smiling. "I'm ready whenever you are to start the day.." she said looking up at him.

When he was ready she would follow him as he would show her what her daily tasks would be like. Aeryn would pay close attention to detail this time, her mind was good at visually memorizing things. She stayed focused, but kept an ever watchful eye on Altair as well. She didn't want harm to come to someone who was so genuine and good. So she would protect him if need be, after all in her mind she owed him her life.
"You aren't dreaming, Aeryn. Reality can be happy too. You must remember that." He smiled gently and nodded, getting to his feet. He waited for her to do the same, then led her along. He took her up to his bedroom first, and Waltson was there to show her how to change Altair's bedsheets and what to do with the old ones. Waltson showed her how to set out Altair's clothes for the morning, which he told her she should do the night before, as well. Then he showed her where all the dirty laundry went and how to wash it. Waltson showed her everything, and Altair simply followed along, though at one point he meandered off.

It was a lot of work, but none of it was difficult work and much of it was simply dusting. Waltson reminded her of Altair's insistence that nothing be moved out of place, such as furniture or books or the like. "If a book is laying on the table, leave it be. Master Altair is very good with putting away his books when he is done with them, so if it is laying around then he is still reading it." He paused. "Ah. I suppose you don't quite know about how he could do that yet. I will let the master tell you himself when he is ready." He went to the door of the study. "Again, miss Aeryn, you shall never go in here unless the master specifically requests you to. No matter what happens, no matter what you may hear or see, you must not go in there without his permission." He was very serious about this.

"Any questions?"

Aeryn continued the tour, things were going into great detail with Waltson showing her everything. She didn't even notice when Altair slipped away, though she did notice his absence after a moment. She frowned but kept on with Waltson going over the dusting and leaving furniture in place. She found Waltson's comment about Altair reading odd, and wondered silently how he managed to read being blind.

The tour stopped at the door to the study and Waltson went over again about how she was not to enter without permission. She nodded at his demand, and frowned. She looked up at Waltson, "I do have one question...what if it's screams? If he is in trouble?" she asked, biting her bottom lip. She swore to protect him and honor his wishes, but what if she heard trouble in the room, should she break her word to keep out? She figured asking directly would just resolve the dilemma, if she couldn't save him herself perhaps there was another way she could help.
Waltson looked at her very seriously. "No matter what you hear, never go in there unless he calls for you to. This is of the utmost importance. It is the most important rule that master Altair has in place. Disobedience of this rule is grounds for dismissal and can be dangerous." He glanced around a moment, then looked back to Aeryn. "The last girl that went in there--" He was interrupted by Altair. "That will be quite enough, thank you, Waltson." Altair was standing in the hallway, behind them, where he certainly hadn't been a moment ago.

Waltson bowed his head apologetically. "Yes, sir. I apologize." He left, and Altair smiled softly at Aeryn. "So, how do you feel about your duties? Lunch is soon, are you hungry? I was thinking we would visit the garden once lunch is finished. You haven't seen it yet."
