I have previously roleplayed on and off, but never really taken the time to properly get into it. This is the first time I'm actually committing to a site. It feels nice, but I'm not gonna lie - it's a bit intimidating too
Intimidating in a good way I should emphasize. I can't wait to get started, and hopefully meet some awesome characters and even more awesome players.
I am the type of person that finds many RP ideas fun and interesting, and I want to do ALL of them at the same time! This is of course not realistic, so I am wondering how many roleplays do you usually have going for you at the same time? What would you recommend for me?

oh! and to answer your question... there's no set number of RPs that a person can take on at once. it depends on you, your schedule, a lot of things... so just take on how ever many feels right. if you get stressed or overwhelmed, be honest with your RP partner(s) and tell them it's too much. then you can slow your replies, or even drop/pause an RP if you need to.

I would recommend just taking roleplays as they fit into your personal schedule! I can only handle a few because I have things to do and low energy to do all of it with! Some take a lot because they have a lot of energy and time they can fit roleplays in! It just all depends on the person

To answer your question, I think I'm currently in 12 or so RPs right now. It's big, I know, but I'm always looking for more RP partners! I can multitask! P.S. most of mine don't respond too often. Rinny, Rocky, and WhatIsMyLifeATGA are the best partners to ask to RP with you!

Hello and Welcome Strawberry Saturday to RP Repository! Hoping you find RPR a wonderful place to get into it! As for the number of RPs, that is sort of a personal choice on how much one wishes to commit. I found myself getting into several rps and have a hard time keeping up, then find they slow or pause and I go searching for more only to have the older ones come to life and I get overwhelmed. I’m trying to keep a balance these days and not overcommit.
One great thing I’ve found here on RPR is this character creation help page. It’s been invaluable in my creating character pages here. There is a lot of detail that can be incorporated. Maybe it will be an assistance to you!

I think the amount of RPs you can take on is highly dependent on you, and your comfort levels. I usually have two, or three, but there are times that even that few are not realistic. It's easy to have too much of a good thing. I think you'll find your "number" with more time exploring the sit, and writing with others.

Howdy Strawberry, Its nice to have you here, trust me when I say, once you get into a good group, it stops being so intimidating, and becomes a lot more fun. I'm sure you'll find plenty of groups to join. But, if your looking to do as many different RP's as possible, keep an eye out for one shot, or short scene RP's. They are a great way to do nice short RP.

Note: Grated I am really new myself, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Ohhh.... RPs can be so addictive
I remember in my high school years I used to have even 17-18 active ones at the same time, I just couldn't stop creating characters - but back then Internet was new, we all had more free time, dang now I sound like a nostalgic old lady and I'm just thirty odd
But I can tell you this, I've found some VERY interesting storylines here on RPR! For now I am in four active RPs, and have some more that I'm brainstorming with the players before we can start, but really excited about all of them! I'm sure you'll love the atmosphere of this site and all the cool people here! 
What are your favorite RP subjects, themes, genres or fandoms? It could give you a direction of where to start from. Use something you're comfortable with. Then, with time, you can decide to branch out and try more new things.
