By Mastodon, I mean the multi instanced social media that can be most easily described as Twitter, if Twitter had a bunch of tiny and interconnected clubhouses. Their official website is: https://joinmastodon.org/


I really like it! But I seem to have bad luck with choosing instances. Either the one I found is dead, too technical to the point of making my head spun, or just are built for communities I'm not entirely a part of and by design make me feel alienated or unable to really interact without feeling out of my depth at all times.

What I'm looking for is anyone with an instance they'd like to peddle. A place thats moderately active, that's friendly to those who aren't knowledgeable with coding, and have an interest in writing, crafts, and other stuff. A roleplay based one would be super rad too! (I'd make one myself, but I think managing an instance requires money, iirc)

It might be a longshot because Masto is fairly indie but I figured I'd try and ask around.

Subscribing to this thread because I'm interested in any responses. I don't have a Mastodon yet, but I'd like to make an account if the right instances pop up

Actually, you can join multiple instances and add people from across all instances (outside of your home instance, their name will look something like 'Bob@masto.instance')

If you wanna just try it to see how you like it, I'd definitely recommend making a sort of burner account on https://mastodon.social/about since it's the one made by the main devs.
