Okay at this point I can't make promises but.. well I guess I will try this again.

This will be my second attempt. My id on there is Eerised and I haven't actually ever finished a novel :-/
My favorite genre kind of spread far and wide because I like lots of things! This year I think I am going to attempt some form of a snarky romantic comedy.

I love your ID for so many reasons.
*raises hand* I would like to enter this raffle! Yay for free art! =D

This'll be my fourth try at NaNoWriMo. I tried it out in '09, '10, and '11, and failed miserably all three times. Le sigh. But! This year, I will not fail. I'm gonna write a novel, dangit, I'm gonna have 50,000 words by the end of the month!

... *whimpers* I hope.

My NaNo name is Onirique, and though I have many ideas for novels, I've yet to write one. It's silly, 'cause being a novelist has been my dream since I was 13 years old. Hopefully this year I'll actually be able to fulfill it!

My favorite genres are sci-fi and horror/supernatural, but my first and greatest love is fantasy, and that's what my novel will be. For this novel I've combined the plots of two separate stories I've been dreaming up for the past year. It's daunting, because I'm not sure they mix too well, and I'm afraid I've bitten off more than I can chew. I'll just have to desperately gnaw at it, I guess...

I don't have a title yet, but here's a summary-ish thing I threw together:

“Something is amiss in the (nameless so far) Kingdom. Small towns across the land become deserted overnight, their citizens dead in the streets or simply vanished. Beasts venture from bordering forests, leaving their dark holes to attack travelers on the roads and families in their homes. And the revered tree of Blue Leaf City, whose wood resisted every blade and fire put to it, and whose leaves once shimmered even in the dark, begins to wither.

In the slums of Blue Leaf City, ex-paladin-in-training Alana Grayl receives a message from her old mentor, who had gone missing months ago. The message contains information that may explain the oddities happening, suggesting the involvement of corrupt royals, a corrupt Church, and a Battling Demon. To save the kingdom and her still missing mentor, Alana gathers a group of misfits with conflicting personalities and begins a quest that could either save the kingdom, or send it to its doom.”

...yep.

Good luck to all! =D
OMG, I wanna enter!!! I'm PenGryphon2007 on the NaNoWriMo website--feel free to add me as a friend!

I seem to be getting a late start this year...ugh. BUT, I know what I'm writing about so I'm hoping I can make up the word count difference soon. (Heck, Monday I should be able to catch up...I hope.) This will NOT be the year I don't finish. >_>

@ Miss

Yay! Glad you are going to attempt it. It can be pretty scary the first time around. One of the most important things is to not edit while you write. One of my favorite things to do is get on Skype with Limeface and we do 1x1 word wars. 15 minutes a go. There is something about wanting to get as many words in as you can in 15 minutes that makes you stop trying to edit (it takes a couple tries XD) but yeah, it works!

I love your story idea. I like medieval anything though, so I might be biased lol.

Good luck!

@ Heimdall

Don’t you sass me. I’ll crush on who I want :P lol

Oooooh, will you be releasing it when you’re done? Or do you hoard your stories like everyone else? Lol

@ CelestinaGry

I added you :D I’ve been getting that problem too for the past day or so. I just started going to my main page and taking the URL and replacing my name with whoever it is that I’m looking for. It usually works :3

@ Gamers

I added ya! Man, so many first timers on RPR. I’m actually kinda shocked lol. I hope you’ll be able to finish some! I’m thinking of trying to get a few word wars things going on for the weekends. It’s just difficult because I’m in such a different timezone XD

@ Teebs <3

I has believe in you :3

And I agree with Fox, best ID. Lol

@ lilsunnyleaf

Yay!! Moar people! :D

You can do it!

It’s small steps, November is just. Write-write-write. Then December is edit-edit-edit lol. I hope you’ll be able to get one done this year. :D

I added you as a writing buddy! :D Good luck!

@ PenGryphon2007

YAY, FEATHERS!!! (I already added you <3 lol)
No, don't think I could guess >_>

@Highjinx

Yep, the plan is to publish, but I'm really bad at finishing things. This story has changed a LOT since its conception, but I've been happy with the current plot for almost a year now, so... here's crossing my fingers.
Nemo Rian (played anonymously)

I'm going into NaNo for the first time because it looks like good motivation since I haven't gotten much writing done in a while. I go by Narvicous on there. Haven't done any novels before, just assorted short bits of nonsense and fan-fiction. My favorite genre is... hard to pin down. Seems to shift with my mood, but Modern Fantasy is one I'm almost always keen on.

The story I'm going for is regular Fantasy, for what it's about, the only central central theme that comes to mind right now is Necromancy. Which kinda fits, since the working title is Origins of Death.
Squeeee I want to join! :D though I am not very active over here at RPR at the moment lol... so hopefully I can remember to come over here, though I plan on updating FB and some other places, so hopefully I will remember xD

My username is Pandah if anyone wants to add me!!

This will be my third NaNo and third win, even though I have started late because I was at a convention >:) I have standards to meet, so I will make it... hehehe!!! This year I am writing about a fantasy land where MC gets caught up in a circus. I am so very excited for it, though I am starting out slow :) after I type this I am actually going to work on it more lol.

I get extra pumped for NaNo because we have an AMAZING local group here! It has grown so much we have actually upgraded to two MLs this year! :) lol. If anyone hasn't yet, go check out your local area forums and meet some folks! Write ins are da bomb!
oooo hey I never even saw this thread, I was too busy writing. This is my sixth nanowrimo, I've won every time. Last year I managed to finish in six days. I plan on finishing this one in five days.

As of right now I'm at 44k

http://nanowrimo.org/participants/hawthorn/ Here I am

Here is where I upload one of my backups http://echoesinthedark.webs.com/ Yep, this is what 44k in four days looks like. My brain is mush and my fingers can no longer fing.

@ Heimdall

I'm so excited for you :D That's kind of how it seems to go. Get a start, then dramatic changes happen. I'm always sitting here going, "Wait... I didn't see that coming." I have to remind myself that I'm the writer and I shouldn't be so surprised lol. *crosses fingers for you too!* Good luck :3

@ Nemo Rian

Thank you for confirming your name for me! I really appreciate it. I hope your story turns out well! Good luck!

@ Pandah

Eeee! Welcome! I think I already added you on NaNo. I'm so glad everyone is getting on board with all this. It makes me super excited! :D

@ Zhi

Holy crap lady. What even... have you slept? XD lol j/k. Good job! You're almost done already lol.
What is sleep? *twitches and drools*

Final wordcount

50,708
Omg Zhi... that gif is making me laugh harder than it should. and CONGRATS!!! I am hardly at 2.5k right now because I started behind and now I am sick (of course!!) but Im going to take a headache pill and keep at it!! >:) so excitingg
Wow, congrats to the 50k winner already! :D

I made yesterday a 10k day, which brings my wordcount up to...15k. And spent early this morning nursing my wrists.

I should add a few more before I go to bed tonight...alas, my poor RP partners... D:

Edit: I just realized I never said much about my interest with NaNo. I started back in 2006 (yet I chose 2007 because that was the year I graduated high school), after learning about it from a friend--who then proceeded to drop out with everyone else. I had a teacher tell me NaNo would only encourage bad writing habits and it was a load of drivel--so I set out to prove her wrong, and had a huge, horrible first draft that hit every cliché known to the fantasy genre. *coughs* BUT, I made it to the 50k.

This is my 8th NaNoWriMo (but 10th novel because there were two years I wrote TWO novels) and made 50k each time (yes, this means in one month I've written well over 100k). I'm also insane. >_> Good luck to all you new first timers! I had a blast my first year and it's why I kept coming back.
Well I finally wrote something for my story so I guess I'll actually enter haha. I'm LokiCharms on NaNo and this is my first year actually participating even though I signed up to do it last year. I've not written any novels so far, and my goal this year is to just finish something that I've started writing. I tend to prefer Urban Fantasy, but I love all sorts of genres, so it's hard to pick just one!

I'm writing an urban fantasy novel that focuses on Mayan mythology :)

Woot! Pen, you wonderful griffin you <3

@ Loki

Huzzah!!! You finally wrote something! XD lol

Weeew!! We're almost to 20 people!!
I guess I'll throw myself into the fray as well. Might give me some extra motivation to at least get to a decent wordcount this year! My NaNoWriMo name is Ulrin.
I've been doing NaNoWriMo for about 4 years now, though every year I end up losing track of it and only writing large parts long after it's gone. It doesn't help that november is the month in the year where university turns into a black hole where all my free time winds up in. I still find it fun to join in, though. The burst of creativity emanating from the event nearly feels so tangible that I can't help but try and find some time to join in the fun.

My current novel is set in a high fantasy world, where magic has faded into obscurity and legend. The story revolves around a young girl who discovers something that was better off forgotten.
