Y/C (and perhaps their partner) had been house-hunting for what seemed like forever, finding loads of houses that would be perfect but were just out of their price range. Finally, though, they found the perfect house - enough rooms, a tidy garden, nothing really needing redecorating at all - and the price was below budget, well below budget in fact. There was just one catch in the contract. If they wanted to buy the house, they were also agreeing to keeping something (or someone?), named only as ‘the Kid’ in the house. But after looking for so long and finding the perfect house at the perfect price, Y/C just had to buy it.

Everything looked great after they’d completely moved in. The house really was perfect. And despite ‘the Kid’ being mentioned in the contract, Y/C had never seen anything unusual. There was just one thing though - they couldn’t get rid of the constant feeling of being watched while they were in the house. And a couple weeks after they moved in, things just seemed a little bit off - like things were just slightly moved from where they should be, or there was less food in the fridge than there was when they last checked it.

Y/C has just had to escape a rather precarious living situation. It may be an evil stepmother, an orphanage, a cruel husband - but they needed to escape. They’d spent an awfully long time walking, not having anywhere to go. Eventually, they ended up stumbling across a cottage at the edge of the woods - it looked relatively neat and when they knocked on the door it was empty, but they found the door opened without much effort.

So exhausted from their journey, they fell asleep in the bed they found, having intended only to close their eyes for a few minutes. When they awoke though, they found that the house, previously cold, was warm, and they could faintly hear a fire in the hearth. Quietly they made their way into the kitchen, finding a woman, M/C, with the indistinguishable look of a witch boiling some water on the stove. She turned round, surprisingly, smiling, and placed an already prepared cup of tea on the table. “Now, you sit down and tell me what brought you here, and I’ll decide what your little nap will cost you,” she began, a glint in her eye.

Y/C was widowed a few months ago, her husband having been a man of a hefty inheritance who received a knighthood shortly before his death. Upon being widowed, she was left with her two young children and a small staff of servants. However, more recently, her lady’s maid, who also served as the governess for the children, married a man of much higher station, making it necessary for Y/C to find a new one.

Luckily, she is close friends with one of the women who ran a boarding school for girl orphans in the area. At her recommendation she hired a young woman, M/C, who’d stayed on at the school as a teacher for some of the younger children after not having married or found a position as a governess. With the minimal staff, Y/C and her new maid were going to have to spend an awful lot of time together - the amount of time which naturally fosters intimacy - especially when M/C’s position involves so much physical intimacy with her employer.
