How do I edit my character's avatar? I can't figure it out

Start here: https://www.rprepository.com/characters/mine

Click 'Edit [Character Name]'

That'll take you to the overall management page for that character.

Click on the current avatar and you'll be taken to a page to Upload a new one.

Here is a good source of information on how character slots work.
It will have the Information for uploading icons.
