Sol waved to Miretta as she made her way off toward the Galviano Shooting Gallery before returning to watching over the other kids, teens, and adults that were engaged with the machines. True to his word, though, he had taken a moment to crack open the back of the Whack-A-Cactuar machine that Miretta had used to have a look at what could have been up with it.
Meanwhile, at the Galviano Shooting Gallery, Mollis had been standing safely in front of the booth, watching as one of the players at the booth finished up their target shooting. She had given out a couple Choco-Mog Medallions for their total score. A sign close by said that anyone under the age of thirteen had to be accompanied by an adult.
"Alright, do we have anyone else that wants to test their aim here at the shooting gallery?" Mollis called out, doing what she could to generate interest to those that might not have been too aware that the booth was there.

Miretta stepped up to the gallery, taking aim with a deep breath and a surge of confidence. She was usually a pretty petty gunman, but this time, she hoped she could get a good target.
Krr-pah! The gun was a little different than she was used to, of course, but it aimed just fine.

At last, she took a look at her targeting formation. Nice! She wasn't quite as bad as she'd thought, although she had missed... A few. (Oops.) She grinned brightly at the adorably fierce-looking sharpshooting attendant, and well practiced in being cheerful toward strangers, said cheekily, "How'd I do?"

Watching as Miretta took the stand and fired off her rounds, Mollis had worn her safety glasses as she did with all participants who were taking shots. Keeping track of the points that were being gained, Mollis nodded somewhat approvingly. She had no basis to work with for a lot of the people that came up -- though as a member of House Somnium, she was usually pretty impressed by people that managed to get some decent shots off that had not undergone any formal training with her House or elsewhere.
A grand total of thirty-eight points out of fifty was nothing to dismiss or sneeze at. It was a little higher than the average player.
Digging out four of the Choco-Mog Medallions from a lockbox that had been stashed away behind the counter where players had to stand behind, Mollis offered them to Miretta with a small smile.
"Here you go, ma'am!" Mollis said politely. "I hope you've been enjoying the Moogle Chocobo Carnival so far! Thanks for playing at the Galviano Shooting Gallery!"

"Thanks!" Miretta piped out, feeling very proud. She actually didn't do well at shooting, a lot of the time. "This is a proud moment for me. And I'm close to getting a good fireworks show as it is, so I've definitely been enjoying the place, thank you. Are, uh, are you having a good time? I've gotta go and get the Cactuars again before I go to the next race, but I love chatting with people at carnivals like this! The atmosphere is so good."
"Well hey, I'm glad we get to experience your proud moment together, then!" Mollis said, her expression brightening up a bit more than it had been. "And is that right? You've almost got fifty tokens on you? That's actually awesome to hear! I'd hurry if I were you. Last I recall, there's only roughly five to ten winners a day in the week that the Carnival is going on. It's also a first come, first serve kind of deal. But man, I can vouch for the Leville here -- a luxury night over there would be amazing after a full day of fun here."
Taking a moment to process the question that Miretta asked, Mollis shrugged somewhat and said, "overall, yeah. I'm really liking everything so far. Someone else will have the booth tomorrow, and I'll get to walk around the Carnival for a bit to see everything else other than what's here."
Admittedly, she was touched by the consideration to her being here. For all intents and purposes, though, she was here as a worker. She and the others that had come from Insomnia were already paid upfront for the days they would be working there. That was all that really mattered in the end.

"Definitely gonna get a move on," Miretta nodded. "There's a lot to do, you know? Thanks for hanging out! I hope you get a good walk around the place tomorrow, then, but you know there's a lot of fun in the mercenary life too! Haha... I've never tended a booth like this, though." She wondered for a minute, then having made her point, she felt like, she nodded shortly and waved to Mollis. "Ciao!"
She first went and chugged another drink, then went for the Cactuars. Here I come! Miretta thought grimly, and then laughed at herself.
After the Cactuar stand, she'd go back to the races and watch their next go around: This time, she picked Nova Nebulous, although she had trouble choosing between that one, Chocolate Biscuit, and Amber Crystal. She wondered who else would be in the race; after that, she was pretty sure that there wasn't much more to the carnival than the fireworks and maybe a few minutes by the water, for the sunset. Surely the visitors would be getting exhausted soon...

The race would be exciting, her in the evening light, she was sure. Her arms were tired from the hammering game, and her eyes were sore from looking at so many things for so long, but she felt.... Satisfied. It was really rewarding... And she had a pocketful of coins, besides. A stay in a nice hotel sounded good, and it was highly recommended as well. Miretta stretched, yawned, and placed her bets smilingly. She felt like a Cheshire, her own pet at home, although he was more like a friend and familiar, really. He'd probably disapprove of her love for birds. Maybe he would just laugh at her, though. She almost felt like challenging him to dislike such a graceful, exciting race!

Mollis could only offer a small laugh that might have been considered dry. While she might not have been a mercenary by any means, she had been sent out on different assignments that tested her mettle on multiple occasions. Though, she simply smiled through her work hours for now while waving Miretta off.
At the Whack-A-Cactuar booth, it looked like Sol had been unsuccessful in finding the error for the previous machine she played at. The cabinet had been turned off with an 'Out of Order Sorry!' sign taped to it. The new booth proved to have been a bit better for Miretta this time around, and Sol could only offer a smile and a congratulations to the better game for both Miretta and the machine. Here she received three additional medallions for her collection.
When Miretta returned to the chocobo racing stables to place another bet, Primam and Stella regarded her fondly before getting ready to commentate the next race. There was still the playful banter that was shared between them as they hyped up the crowd and made sure that a play-by-play was somewhat well commentated on for anyone listening. The biggest thing that seemed to concern both the crowd and the commentators, however, was the fact that it looked like Flurry Runner and their rider took a nasty dive, costing them their lead position.
The sight made nearly everyone that saw it make the stands sound off with a pained, resounding "ooooh--!"
Luckily, it seemed that neither chocobo nor rider were too terribly injured, though specialists had come out to the track to make extra sure while escorting them back to the stables and infirmary tent to get looked over.
Despite that bit of excitement, however, it seemed that Miretta's chocobo that she bet on came in second, earning her an additional sixteen Medallions for her collection. That meant that Miretta had more than enough Choco-Mog Medallions to turn in for her luxury stay at the Leville and her fireworks seating with sixty-five total medallions!

Miretta was having a glorious time- she smashed and bashed and whacked at the Whack-a-Cactuar booth, made eyes at the sharpshooting attendant, joined in a dusty street dance with a bunch of little old ladies, and whooped and cheered and boo(hoo)ed at the races. After watching so much running, she felt a little tired, but she'd had more than enough if a fun day anyway. At least she'd lasted throughout the delightful day, see things she'd never seen before and done things better than she thought she would, and could last through a delightful night on fluffy pillows and clean mattresses!
She was looking forward to the fireworks show, as well.
Well, time to go back and get cleaned up, she supposed. With her pockets and pouches full, her medallions collected, and the sounds of screaming children fading into the distance, Miretta made her way past the stables (where she said goodbye to the Chocobos), up a hill, and towards the gondolas. A beautiful sunset was shimmering over the skyline, and she couldn't wait to see the flares and flowers light up the dark sky. She wiped her face with a spare handkerchief.
She hoped absently that the festival would continue to be fun for everyone else, as well, but she was more concerned about her flagging energy right now.
Miretta sat back in the grass, kicked off her shoes, and took a moment's rest. A deep breath in smelled of grass and cake. A deep breath out stilled and cleared her twinkling vision. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, saw the sun sinking below the water. It was nearly night.

Once the sky darkened enough, the music started to fade out to a dull tone as an announcement was made: "Ladies, gentlemen, and those elsewhere in or out of the spectrum! Grab a snack, take a seat, and get comfortable! The Moogle Chocobo Fireworks Show for tonight will kick off shortly! We hope you enjoyed your time here in Altissia, and we hope that you'll continue to enjoy your time here if you plan on staying the week! Thank you for coming by!"
The music rose back in volume to what it was, and the occupied gondolas of either Choco-Mog Medallion winners or those that shelled out the gil for it started getting ferried out to a particular spot not far out into the ocean where Altissia sat. The Altar of the Tidemother along with the capital building made a wonderful backdrop against the velvety night sky.
The first firework whistled into the sky, calling attention to the show about the start. It burst into a giant head of a chocobo.
After that, fireworks started going off in a pattern. There were images of chocobos, moogles, cactuars, and carbuncles that lit up the night sky alongside any other attention grabbing fireworks that showered the sky in an amazing display of fire and colour.
A beautiful end to the Moogle Chocobo Carnival.

Miretta had slid into a boat just before the first fireworks started going off, the sound of paddles and water rushing fluidly around her. She set her chin on her hand and crossed her legs, staring up at the beautiful sky; almost all her attention was on the fireworks. As they twinkled down and sparkled back up again, she couldn't help but let out a soft noise of appreciation. She could hear the faint laughter of others, and happy gasps of wonder, from boats around her. It didn't detract from the sight of the finale, though, with all the animals and vegetable creatures one could ever want to see, lit up in dazzling lights against the night sky.
Miretta grinned and clapped, giving a great whistle toward the last part of the show, and as her boat came to a stop she stepped out jauntily. She waved at a few other people in the boats, all high-spirited and dazed from the light show. She sniffed the night air, water-scented with the faint lingering touch of powder. She had had plenty of time to ponder here at the festival - on the joys of life, on temporary things, on staying and leaving. Now it was time to leave. She hefted her little pack on her back, and started on her way toward the edge of the city.
At the last end of the path that was on a hill, she turned, and looked at the sky one more time. The stars of Altissia sure were pretty. Miretta gave a small salute and then continued on her way, a little sore but feeling fine.
She'd make her way into the hotel, feel a sense of hilarity as she hoisted her proof medallions onto the counter, and go right to sleep as soon as she was near enough to the bed to call falling over 'lying down'.
But for now, she whistled a little tune under her breath, and took her last look at the carnival lights.
