Fluttering tattered wings and long exhausted gasps could be heard amid the usual sounds of the busy streets and people in town. It was mid-afternoon, with partially cloudy skies with small patches of sunlight shining down through them. The town was alive with people moving from store to store, trying to buy and sell their wares. It was a typical day of scavenging, picking at whatever food remains she could find along the littered, trash ridden alleys. Living on the streets alongside the normal crows, rats and wild dogs that also scavenged the human's trash was the only way of living she knew. It wasn't a healthy life, eating whatever the humans wasted. But she had no choice but to live this way, no one wanted to hire a harpy in a mostly human town. Her soft violet hair was often riddled with dirt, and her once beautiful dark blueish black feathers were frayed and dull. The only thing about her that was still beautiful were her eyes, bright and shining like a brand new mirror. They often had an eerie glow about them, which caused the townsfolk to say she was cursed or something of that nature. Which often made her scoff and mumble to herself, that also didn't make her look any better. After a few unsatisfying meals of scraps she tucked herself away in an old supply shed at a empty unused store, taking the chance to rest up for the late night treats she could get from the stores that tossed out whatever didn't sell that day.

Not too much time would pass before she would feel a wet nose against her cheek coupled with the tickle of furry lips.
A big, jet black wolf with white speckles all over was standing there, his silver eyes peering directly into hers, though he didn't seem aggressive at all, in fact, his tail and whole body was wagging. He appeared to be well fed. His coat was almost a mirrored gloss.
"Hello," the canine almost seemed to say with his expression.

Rosa shrieked and backed further into the shed, feathers on end. The wolf had startled her out of her light slumber, but that lasted only for a few moments. "Oh.. just a wolf. Thought you were one of those stupid humans bothering me again." She let out a soft sigh and relaxed, wrapping her feathered arms around herself and patting them down. "You shouldn't just approach someone you don't know like that, had I felt threatened I might have struck you with my talons." She tucked a loose strand of her violet hair behind a lightly feathered ear.

He sat down in front of her and shook his head then let out a short, friendly bark then moved closer to her and sat down again. He lifted a paw and placed it on her knee.
"Hello, I'm Elemeno," said a voice in her head.

Blinking rather confusedly for a moment, she sat down with a thump. "Appears I was too quick to assume you were a normal wolf.. Name's Rosalinda. You can call me Rosa if you'd like." She began preening some of her more tattered feathers with clawed fingers, trying to clean herself up a bit. It wasn't too often that someone would stop to speak to her, so a strange wolf doing so caught her off guard and made her rather self-conscious.

"It's nice to meet you, Miss Rosa," the wolf smiled. His voice was a bit more clear in her mind the more he spoke and it was that of a young boy, maybe 13 or 14.
"I'm a werewolf," he wagged his tail.

After looking over him for a moment she should have realized from the start he wasn't just some average wolf wandering town, and for a split second she laughed herself for thinking otherwise. "Werewolf huh, what're you doing here of all places? These humans don't take to kindly to other races, I'm living proof of that." She snickered darkly, "They won't hire non-humans or help them, its stupid really." She sent a hateful glare towards the nearest human, who quickly got far out of the silver eyed harpy's sight.

El shrugged his furry shoulders, "No humans know that I'm a werewolf. I just look like a really neat looking wolf to them, like this anyways. When I'm a human you can't tell me any different from a normal human."

With a sigh she laid back on the ground, holding a feathered and clawed hand in front of her face to block the sunlight. "You're beyond lucky in that sense.. I'm unable to disguise myself as human, and being a harpy among these morons isn't the easiest thing. And a crow harpy at that.. Crows are hated enough by themselves, me being here makes it worse though." She plucked a overly frayed feather from her arm and tossed it to the side. "Pickings are slim as well, food scraps go bad quickly.." She murmured quietly, as if to herself.

"You could come live with me!" he offered her, his paw still on her knee, "I can teach you to hunt!"

She blinked for a moment, followed by a soft shriek and loud laughter. "You are a strange one! I have lived this life for too long, hunting is beyond my abilities at this point. I would be nothing more than a burden." She stood solemnly after her laughing fit, turning to her rickety shed and smiling with deep sorrow showing in her mirror-like eyes. "I appreciate the offer though.. Its been quite some time since someone said something so kind to me. But I'd rather not cause you any trouble, a bird-brain like myself can't do much at all." She fluffed up her feathers and preened them silently after she spoke.

"You've got sharp looking claws and you can fly, right? You could be a good hunter. I'll teach you," he said again, "It's gotta be better than living here."

Rosa stretched her arms out, revealing tattered wings with bare spots here and there. "I haven't flown in years, and I'm not sure these wings will allow it.." She turned to face Elemeno with a faint smile. "And lately all these claws get used for is quarreling with other scavengers. But, I'm willing to try if you think you have the patience to deal with me. I can't guarantee that it'll do any good though." She tucked her wings away with a soft sigh.

"I'm pretty patient. Just follow me," he gave her wolffish grin and stood, pulling his paw from her knee and he trotted away.

She took a few moments to gather what little things she owned from the shed, placing them in a small sack and tying it to her waist. "Hope the crows won't get too lonely without me around.." She followed after Elemeno, taking a few glances back at the place she called home for a good deal of her life. The frantic caws of crows could be heard from the rooftops of the surrounding shops, they seemed to be cheering her on rather than begging her to stay.

He led Rosa deep into the forest, where the came upon a well-kept, two story cabin in a clearing. He walked onto the wrap-around porch then began to change. His fur sunk into his body and his snout shrank into his face. His ears and tail receded into his body and his front legs became arms and his paws became bare feet and hands. The transformation took about 30 seconds and when it was done, a young boy of 14, by appearance anyways, stood there. "Alright you're welcome inside," he smiled and opened the door for her, "You can bathe if you'd like too."

She froze momentarily, gazing over the cabin and the young man that just seconds before was a large wolf. "Oh ah, thank you.." She hesitated at the doorway before taking a careful step into the cabin, her taloned feet making it appear rather difficult to be careful. The thought of a bath in an actual house was rather enticing since she often only bathed when it rained, which made her wonder just how bad off she appeared or smelled for that matter. At that moment she became very embarrassed of herself, not that feeling that way would help since it was rather late for it.

El brushed his jet black hair out of his eyes and nodded, "You're very welcome. I'll go and fill the tub for you," he smiled and trotted up the stairs and into a bathroom. He was fortunate enough to have been granted a home that had running water, even if it was a primitive system.
He filled the large bowl that was the bath tub with hot water then went downstairs, "Alright, you can go get clean."

Rosa smiled through her embarassment and nodded, clumsily climbing the stairs, her taloned feet once again causing trouble. Once she made it to the bathroom and closed the door she let out a long exhausted sigh, she wasn't used to being treated kindly and it was putting a weight on her mind. "First actual bath in years, and my mind is shot already.." She shrugged the tattered clothes she wore off and carefully climbed into the tub.
