Vague paid absolutely no mind to the insignificant mammal who was arching bristling in defense. The transverse's attraction to the cat had been long diminished, and it was set on inspecting the vicinity, however at the sound of its name it turned, it's nonexistent face towards Novella. It's pursuit wasn't yet quenched, but it waited.. Thirty seconds should be a long enough wait despite that Vague could afford to wait forever. Even so, it had an objective that it wanted to reach. At the moment she was being a distraction.
It wasn't quite sure.. Was she searching for an answer for that or was she simply being rhetorical?

"Can you talk, or communicate somehow? You are not answering my questions and I answered yours!" As he turned she swallowed a lump in her throat. Her blood ran cold. Novella could only distract him. She had to protect Pangurban, her only form of family. She slowly stepped towards the stark white being. She could feel it watching her and it made her heart beat rapidly.
"What are you?"
"What are you?"
There was a pregnant pause, as if it had tardily processed what she said and it made no efforts to move either. Small gestures led to the assumption that she was apprehensive as she threw out another question that it may or may not respond to. Vague didn't know what propelled this inquiry, but her attempted approach read that she was quite adamant. Humans were the earth's most perplexing beasts; creating laws and defying them; denying their natural partners when indeed a man's body was made for a woman and a woman's body was made for a man. They change excessively, abrasive and indecisive or avaricious, some more than others, but what separates them from other creatures is their desire to learn- to know why or why not.
It needn't any more examinations of the human body. It was the mind that was becoming a sparking interest. Her inquiry would be the ulterior motive until the transverse was content.
Upon it's untarnished face Vague brought forth a voice and was able to do so without lips and a peculiar shaped mouth that was hidden narrowly behind it's unblemished. Small holes, no bigger than pores kept the voice from being muffled. "Be specific," though any other human would narrow down the meaning Vague saw it to be general.

She stuttered and blew air from her lips, flustered. Novella scratched at the small hairs on the back of her neck, trying to find the right words. She flapped her mouth open like a fish and sputtered out nonsense. She took a breath and attempted to calm herself; still trying to grasp the situation fully, she put out her best effort. She spoke, albeit weakly," You aren't normal. The Council never explained this sort of situation to me. You're clearly not human, so what exactly are you? An alien? Aliens don't exist, right? That's crazy talk!"
She shook, hands almost vibrating with energy. "And...and even if you were, what purpose do you have coming here? This planet is suited for life sure, but you would need a reason to start life or have a reason to be watching and following me! Of all the people, me!" Novella paced back and forth, muttering to herself before freezing in her tracks. She turned to look at the being called Vague. "How did you...change like that?"
