Your Character could be a ghost hunter, an old game collector, or really just any random person that comes across the old, abandoned arcade.
Dexter Machine is the ghost of a scientist that inhabits an arcade machine. When your character finds him, they take him home, either for investigation or because he looks like a normal arcade machine. But when they hear random singing in the middle of the night or see that glasses of water, milk, and any other liquid they keep in the house sat on the control desk of said arcade machine, they realize that what they're dealing with is much more than what appears.

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Modern
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Romance isn't outright desired, but can happen if we decide the characters are perfect for each other. The romance won't be important to the overall plot.
