Elliot froze and immediately sniffed at the air. There was something very familiar on the wind... "Is that...." they sniffed again. "Do I smell a demon...? Other than myself of course...." Their attention snapped back to Anul. "Fine. You may be my steed. I-I mean 'dance partner'." urgently, they made grabby hands with their comparatively large paws.

The dog wags his tail, looking... confused at the explanation of the arm being a "casual," arm, but he is distracted again by Asmodeus picking up an ENTIRE PLATTER OF FOOD! OH BOY! He suddenly veers toward the big guy, tail waving behind him. He trots at Asmodeus' side, saying nothing but making hopeful eyes up at him.

"It's a lot of work to do I'm afraid, now I believe mister Elliot, you did ask for a dance of sorts? what was it, a ride upon my shoulders? or have you changed your mind? in which case I wouldn't mind a dance myself of the more traditional variety should any ask." there was a rapid clicking from what would seem top be a hair pin, said hair pin rapidly unfolding into a cricket like mechanical creature two inches in length. "ah, I was starting to wonder when that would turn on. Hopson." she would say in reference to the insectoid construct, go on and find a perch would you, select a tune." she'd say with a chuckle." at which point she would receive the response as hopson, the mechanical cricket hopped away at great speed. "up you go mister elliot." with her mechanical arm she hefted him up onto her shoulders in one singular go. do be careful up there, i'd rather you not fall or pull my hair. now then, would anyone care for a more.. traditional dance, or perhaps a demonstration of mechanisms which i have brought for show?"

Sentinel walked over to Anul, and said, "I haven't danced in a while, do forgive me."

As Pan introduces himself and inquires his name, Asmodeus stops, needing to think about this. "I'm flattered" he first responds to the friendly statement, promply popping some of whatever food is on the tray towards his mouth-- eyes lowering to see Ollie. "Oh!--um--," he scrambles, really having wanted the whole tray for himself but instead he crouches slowly, holding the platter out to Ollie. "Dont take all of it," he reminds softly before his head tilts back, red ears flicking. "You can call me Asmodeus," he doesnt dare give up his true name. "Its a delight to meet you, Pan," his free hand reaches to pet Ollie's head.

" well it's nice to meet you asmodues. Its so nice to meet you. actally, I might as well tell you my real name, it's pan pipes folly, well follage" he said as he smiled at him. " and what's your name little dude?" he asked the small dog as he looked at them.

The dog's eyes grow very wide as the entire platter is lowered toward him. He tilts his head to the side, opening his mouth as wiiiiiiiide as he can.. and then is told not to eat it all. Oh. Hmn. This requires a brief recalculation, but then he is ready again to tilt his head and scarf up a big bite from the tray -- a collection of sliced hams. He throws his head back and snarfs all that meat down, his eyes shining with absolute bliss. Asmodeus is now his friend forEVER. His eyes shine with love and gratitude as he allows his head to be pet.

"That'd be Lord Elliot to you," Elliot responded, standing on Anul's shoulder, curling their toes around firmly but not in a pinching manner and resting a hand against Anul's head for balance. They were still slightly distracted with trying to find the origin of the scent of demon. They certainly had a better observational platform for it now. "Mr Elliot was my-... well actually, I don't really have a father." Their eyes finally locked onto Asmodeus. "Oho... that one certainly looks demon-y to me..."

The Duchess smiles wildly to see her guests getting settled and starting to interact so well with each other. "Thank you very much for your assistance," she says to Anul, nodding. "And I'm certain we would be very grateful for a demonstration, if you have the time and energy!"

The servant brings Hoshiko her glass of wine, but upon offering it up, says with a smile, "I hope you enjoy. The price for imbibing will be paying a compliment to one other party guest."

"That is-- a long name there," Asmodeus laughs weakly, brows scrunching beneath his leather mask. "I'll stick to Pan, if that is alright with you," he breathes. He can't do much to stop Ollie as the dog scarfs the entire plate either way, the demons shoulders deflating as his head seems to hang, fingers scrunching up golden fur. "Okay...I guess that should have been expected," he rises now with the empty tray, sighing deeply. "I suppose I will grab more," with that he is back to grab another platter, as if he does indeed work here. Its likely he will do this the entire night, he might be a theif but at least a workaholic-- maybe a little stupid. As he makes his way over his gaze settles on Elliot, blinking at him as his red tail swishes softly.

"You are...very short," he suddenly states bluntly. "Are you a demon? I havent seen one so short," he talks big game for someone only 5'10.

Ollie is a GOOD BOY and only scarfed a quarter of the plate But he is very interested in the grabbing of another plate, oh yes.

"good heavens your a tall lad. I fear our height difference may be at best, debilitating dear sir." she would say to sentinel with an apologetic tone. she was only five foot 2, and the heels only have her an extra inch. "Well lord elliot, as you say. perhaps first i should fetch a drink of some sort. maybe a display of my mechanism should any so desire to see a few marvels of arcane engineering?" she'd offer as she walked towards one of the tables, gathering for herself a drink as the duchess spoke her mind. "a demonstration it is! but what to choose. OH I KNOW." she would say as she reached down, pulling something from one of her heeled boots. a metal rod. "watch this folks, it is quite the sight I assure you." she tapped it three times on the table before tossing it into the air, what unfolded, or rather unrolled and remained floating in the air, was an image projected from a scroll like sheet of metal, and image of stars above, slowly rotating in the air. "this is a celestial occularum. The image you see before you, are the very stars above our heads right now. good for mere displays of starlit beauty, or navigation when the weather is being less than co-operative."

Hoshiko took her wine and raised an eyebrow, alittle bit... surprised to say the least "seems like a fair price" she says with a light chuckle, she then took a sip. For her, despite how tame wine usually is, that was a sip of liquid couarage, it gave her the confidence she needed to step forward and socialise. She started walking towards the dance floor, curiously looking around at the people, perhaps she didn't stand out as much as she thought she did, which gave her even more confidence, her cape flowed like gravity had no affect on it as she walked, the stars within sparkling brightly. What caught her eyes immediately was the projection of the stars Anul had just set up, Hoshiko was almost entranced as she walked over to get a better look, "wow..." she muttered, despite having seen many things, the stars never ceased to amaze her.

Elliot held back the instinct to hiss. They didn't have the best of interactions with other demons and their cousin-kin, but this was a party. And parties were for being civil. Besides, this particular potential demon had done nothing wrong yet. "I-I shall have you know, sir, that I am not short..." they said indignantly. "I happen to be an extremely powerful demon, in fact. Or well... I will be. One day."

sentinel said, "So you are not powerful as you have previously stated?" He said, attempting to call Elliot's bluff,

Ollie's ham-inspired reverie is broken by pan asking his name. "My name is Ollie!" he borks in what sounds like pure celebration, very much excited by the sound of his own name. "I am a dog and I am a Good Boy! I haven't talked before but I can talk tonight!" These facts might sound unrelated to the asking of his name, but he states them as if they were all one of a piece.

"Oh, I am powerful," Elliot hurried to cover. "Just... not extremely powerful. Yet."

"Why not show me?" Sentinel said to Elliot. He was a fairly good conjurer; he was considered powerful, so he was secretly hoping that Elliot could match or top him. It would be an embarrassment for the both of them to make a fool of himself.

Asmodeus's smile twitches at the crooks, trying very hard not to laugh as Elliot defends themself, the blond nodding slowly as his free hand pushes over his smile so he can grin. "I see, I'm sure you're very strong," the man practically giggled before clearing his throat, exhaling a sigh before bowing somewhat. "I hope to see you do great things in the future then," he hums, glimpsing to Sentinel. "They are like a Chihuahua," he cackles before returning to the buffet table, collecting another platter.
