Aliens have always been a myth on your homeworld. A not-quite proven hypothesis of intelligent life beyond the sky. One unusual restaurant experience later, and you find yourself realising the truth. Oh, and your planet has blown up. But at least you survived, right?
READ FIRST:
Players aged 16+ are required. This is a personal preference due to the age gap there would otherwise be.
This is a multi-paragraph RP. If you feel you can't maintain a pace of about 2 paragraphs average per post, this might not be for you. Also, expect long posts from me early on - don't feel obligated to keep up with them and don't expect them to persist throughout; it'd be mostly due to me setting the scene.

You could have sworn you had swallowed something solid during that meal you had when you last ate out. Now that you think about it, there was something very suspicious about the waiter. Now that you find yourself tied up in the medical wing of an alien spaceship, it is all starting to make sense. The creature before you is holding the tiny device - which they had apparently extracted from inside of you - having explained its importance; but that is not what is on your mind. No... who cares what that stupid object is or who is after it. Especially when the fact that your planet was destroyed had been casually slipped into conversation! What is there to do now other than tag along with this rag-tag bunch of misfits and their quest, though? Adventure in space awaits!

So I've kinda got Farscape on the mind again (figures). And we all know what that means. The urge to put together a crew of my alien characters and drag along another player on their adventures! This time, however, I won't be using my go-to crew (the Avant-garde crew). Because I want to give a turn to more of my major characters who aren't a part of it. That, and I wanted to use a bigger, more alien-like space ship. See the bottom of this post for the design. (NOTE: This is NOT a Farscape RP. This is an original setting.)
In this case, much like Farscape, this will be a crew without a captain (despite my go-to space captain being a part of it). In-fighting? Dramatic conflict? Sabotage and subterfuge? Yes please. Though the crew have been brought together by circumstance, they do not always see eye-to-eye, and often try to usurp control of the ship for their own means, even if a democratic vote has been made against their choice of action.
the crew are as follows (click to reveal)
Byxi - Byxi is a bit of a flirt, but doesn't always mean it. He knows what he likes in a man and isn't afraid to say it out loud, and sometimes that comes out as teasing or flirtatious activity. Byxi's knowledge of bio-engineering means he is the closest the ship has to a dedicated engineer; though often times his cumbersome wings get in the way of reaching the more confined crawlspaces. He does often get distracted by bright lights, and can generally become somewhat unreliable when overwhelmed. But under normal conditions, he can very much stay on top of things and is very dedicated to being active and busy.
Elliot - Contrary to their profile, Ellie is not a demon in this setting. They're a small roguish creature whose only goal is to look out for themselves. They're a great and handy thief, but an unreliable ally. It is difficult to say whether they are more or less of a liability than they are an asset.
Iryna - Iryna is often described as hot-headed. Violent. Lazy. Selfish. All of the wrong qualities for a trusted friend. But it is her bull-headed selfishness that also makes her a great warrior. Equally skilled at melee and ranged combat, Iryna often fits the barbarian archetype perfectly. She is also very much necessary to keep her pacifist crewmates from failing to heed common sense.
Kt'tk - A young arachnoid who is the equivalent of a human teen, though actually chronologically younger due to a shorter lifespan. Kt-tk isn't too academically bright, given they come from an uplifted stone-age society. Originally used as a sort of sapient cattle for their silk (much like the rest of their kind), Kt-tk hasn't had much of an education beyond what their own kind had taught them. Despite that, their strong arms make them a great labourer and their ability to shoot silk from their palms can come in handy in both combat and maintenance.
Kys'Jarok - An agnostic spiritualist, Kys acts as the crew's resident spiritual guide and psychologist. Whilst they don't worship a particular deity, they immerse themselves in spiritualism as a raw concept. Part of their meditative routine involves martial arts; and given their age, Kys is a master at hand-to-hand combat. Despite being totally blind, they are probably the best close-quarters warrior on the ship - though don't call them a warrior to their face!
Loortez - Loortez is a master of energy devices that many compare to historic depictions of magical wands and staves. Owing to the art-like operation of such devices, it has earned individuals with such skills the title of 'techno-mage'. Though not strictly magic, the energy devices in Loortez's collection can be used for a variety of things, including as weapons or as surgical equipment. Combined with Loortez's medical knowledge and training, it makes him a fantastic doctor. Whilst his species is well known for being tough and making for great mercenaries, he himself is rather scrawny and timid, making him a poor warrior.
Nil - A resilient little jelly that can take practically any shape, Nil's only downside is their limited selection of senses, meaning that their abilities with subterfuge and stealth don't fit every covert situation. Nil is overly happy-go-lucky and loves practical jokes, but doesn't have a malevolent bone in their boneless body.
Oc'taara - A skilled test pilot specialising in fighter craft and shuttles, Oc'taara is a useful young adult avian to have around. Whilst one could call her party-loving attitude somewhat unprofessional, she knows how to get a ship out of a pinch. As an avian being, Oc'taara is covered in black feathers. Her arms also function as rudimentary wings, allowing her to glide but not outright fly. Unlike most birds, Oc'taara has humanoid hands, which allows her to manipulate most humanoid ship controls.
Pela - Pela is a cosmic mystery. She can survive and travel in the vacuum of space. She can turn her belly into a portal to a kind of pocket plane. And she often seems to get emotional premonitions that result in a keen danger sense. Whilst she does not have her typical magic at her disposal in this RP, she can be very helpful to the crew. She also makes for a dedicated nurse and research assistant.
Starlit-Wisdom - Despite being highly religious, Starlit-Wisdom is not actually much of a spiritual guide. Instead, their role is generally to be the ship's scientist. An out-spoken (to the extent in which a voiceless being can speak) pacifist and typically quite frail being, Starlit-Wisdom does not like fighting.
Voxel - Voxel is a veteran. A trained and disciplined ex-soldier. He knows battle tactics well and can strip and reassemble a plasma rifle blindfolded. He might not be as spry as he used to be, but he is still a crack shot with a mid-range rifle and his tactical expertise makes him the crew's best bet in a firefight. He can often be fairly gruff and unforgiving at times, however.
Xá'Taren - Xá is charismatic and extroverted. Whilst his brain chemistry makes him exceptionally gullible and poor at deception, he does make for a great negotiator when the truth is not being bent by either party; and with a sufficiently wise partner, most of his shortcomings in that area can be overcome. Generally he is a jack-of-all-trades figure, though he lacks mastery in any given area. If there is one skill that perhaps does stand above the others, it is his ability with musical instruments. Though he is also a decent sniper, too - so long as the weapon has a non-lethal setting.

I'm not hugely picky on characters for this. But it would probably be better if your character had some sort of useful ability for sci-fi space hijinks. Don't worry about being too close to the skillset of any of the listed crew members, as they can easily be written out if there's too much overlap.
Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (faster than light)
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
No romance at all will be included in this plot, period.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred. Will be played one-on-one.
