The EDF was scanning the ground, the power readings were off the charts! the group was mostly scientists and a hand full of standard infantry

The pack hunters brought them closer to the group, before they stopped at a sign. "We aren't going farther than this, whatever is out there, these mutts can go without." They said, dragging the Goonroe's back. "I'm not loosing these to worms."

"Well, you might not go any further, but I won't let these EDF people come here and colonize an Empire. I'm going to stand up for you guys. Alright, men. Target them, and when you get into range, open fire!" Robbins ordered, and the tank began moving up. Suddenly, they spotted something.

"They're in range, sir!" The Gunner said. They hadn't gone 50 feet from Joe. The PAC guns began swiveling around, turning to face the EDF group. While there were scientists in there, HRA wasn't known for mercy, as evident by the horrendous and terrifyingly powerful orbital bombardments they used constantly. "Orders?"

"Open fire." Robbins ordered, and the gun let loose dozens of 23mm rounds.

"Mommy, look! Its a fireworks show!" A small child said. Not a child anyone would really notice, and not one that many knew. But an important child, nonetheless. The mother came up to see what was happening, and she looked into the sky. Once again, an important person. We'll cover that later.

"It is... No... Oh my God." The mother said, staring up in terrified realization. That was no fireworks show. She knew what it was. She had seen it all too many times. An invasion force. The small amount of fireballs from the drop ships burning up in the atmosphere, and the accurate dispersion of them, showed it was not asteroids, or anything else. Cloaked or not, they had been spotted by a fatal flaw that not too many could fix. "Come inside!"

All around the city, people realized what it was. Somehow, a force had gotten through the shields, and started landing. The militia worked as hard as they could, running about, and sealing off cities. They stood at the walls, watching out.

"Get me the Air Force!" The commanding officer of the planet, a Colonel, ordered. The screen came up, and the Air Force leader for that planet came up on the screen, asking what was wrong. "Get me a dozen heavy fighters here, NOW! Someone's landing drop ships!"

"I don't care what you do, I'm not losing my men to those worms." Joe said, pointing out to the distance, where a snake like creature had risen up from the ground. It went back under, and three more appeared.

"Sir the planets atmosphere caused the drop ships to heat up and the heat was enough to make them visible. No damage was done to them but the humans are retaliating." Voriarns on computers monitoring the assault said. Dreath pressed a button and sent a message to the ships. "Drop the troops inside the city boundaries and the tanks as well. Then fly in different directions to split up there air force." Dreath ordered. Since only the ship was slightly visible the troops and tanks would be completely invisible and cloaked. The tanks main body was a egg like shape with a pointed bit on the thinner side. This was two meters tall and four wide. The main gun was on it. There were several kinds of tanks in the voriarn arsenal. There were large siege tanks which had a large three meter long and eighty centimeter wide gun that fired high impact energy shots capably of leveling towns. There were also anti-infantry and vehicle ones. The infantry ones had two heavy plasma cannons and the anti vehicle ones had a long thinner piercing cannon for precision shots. An anti air one that shot rapid fire concentrated energy shots. And finally a raiding one which fired a beam of energy to burn through any substance. These ones were siege tanks. The tanks also had some flat vertical fin like wings on the side which allowed troops to sit on and allowed it to move with speed and with great evasiveness. The troops were dropped into the city in several corners. The tanks stayed hidden at the back while the troops set up a perimeter. It wouldn't be long before someone realized were they were but by the time the air force new it would be to late to save many people. "Once the attack on the ground starts we assault those cruisers. Just keep us out side of there range and sensors even i they can't detect us I want to bombard them with photon shots and proceed to land on the planet." Dreath said aboard his command ship.

Alec was at this planet for information when he saw the pods drop "DAMN!" he yelled and quickly called Mars, but even if the transmission got there, it would take an hour or two for there ships to get there, and now anyone who saw that transmission go out could trace the transmission to him, He did not care and landed in the city that he saw the pods go for, He had waged lots of one man campaigns on the EDF Before and was ready for anything

Back in the cruiser Dreath was receiving video footage from what his men on the ground saw. When one of his men saw Alec Dreath ordered him to to stare at him. "Wait is that the human from mars? The one that killed Histrays?" Annoyed by seeing this human here he ordered his men to prepare to fire at him. All of them raising there plasma rifles they were ready to fire and the tanks took aim at military and other armed buildings.

"Sir, approaching enemy force. They've landed inside the city walls." The Captain of the fighter squadron A reported, flying low level about 100 miles from the city. They had called for backup when they realized that they were large in strength and had anti air ability. They also alerted the militia, which realized fully what was going on. Unfortunately, they were not fully equipped, and there wasn't any fleet around this planet, making it the weakest of them all. "Increasing throttle to 75%. Going at Mach 30."

At that level, anything below them for 500 feet would be hit with a huge shockwave that would send even tanks flying, like a bomb. This was their normal space flight, but down here, they had to go only 600 mph, by law. In war, they matched the enemy's speed. And because these were P-1100 Heavy Fighters, they were heavily armed. (The P series stands for Plane, but they are based off of Imperial Guard. Space Marines use P(f) series, which replaces .50s for 23mms, 20mms for 36mms, and so on and so forth.)

They shot over the area, moving faster than any ground based anti aircraft gun could fire at. Small buildings under 100 feet ripped apart, sending debris flying over the ground. Glass flew everywhere from the shattered windows, and an audible sonic boom was heard for miles around. Then, a bit later, they heard the engines, making them think that there was another attack incoming.

"In, in in!" The corporal ordered, moving his hands towards the inside of the base. They may have deployed on the outside walls, but the inside base would be harder to crack. 100 foot high, 50 foot thick walls could withstand days, months, even years of siege. Bunkers on the top of the buttresses and towers held 30mm automatic cannons, 95mm anti aircraft guns, or 152mm anti tank guns.

Even the bunkers in the front were fortified, being 20 feet thick and plated with lead and titanium. They held .50 caliber miniguns or heavy stubbers, HMGs that were 13mm. Connecting each bunker was a trench system with barbed wire on top, and thick, reinforced tunnels deep below, which with a push of a button, could implode. Miles of barbed wire surrounded it, and hedghogs and anti tank and infantry mines dotted the landscape. But given time, it could be breached.

As the sergeant ordered the last man in, he looked up at the sky. Already he saw the trails that the planes left as they flew, and he heard the sonic boom. He couldn't see the tanks yet. Or the men. But he could see more soldiers coming.

"Now! Everyone! Get inside!" The captain ordered, and the outer gates began closing, and then the main gates began closing. "I hope Leningrad holds.." (They nicknamed the fortress Leningrad. Its the only place worth capturing on the planet, and unless it's captured, the entire planet can be bombarded from there...)

Meanwhile, alerted by the presence of energy spikes, the orbital defense stations began loading up their guns, and aimed them at the energy spikes. They fired at will. And boy, was it a sight to see. Though inaccurate because of the cloaking, it was very, very devastating.

Every gun turret, ever laser battery, every las turret, every missile, and ever Hellraiser Cannon fired at will. No ship was in the area, but they would soon be inbound. And they had to. That planet had the man in charge of the system residing there, a good target.

Hundreds of projectiles, discharges, missiles, and other things flew across the space between the cloaked ships and the orbital defense stations. Guns fired, reloaded, and fired again, spewing huge 10 meter wide projectiles. Lasers opened up with high energy beams which could cut through many shield layers. And las turrets open fired with huge discharges that could cause massive splash damage.

(Wait, what city is being attacked?)

There was many different weapons being fired in the direction of Dreath and his fleet. However they were out of range and were not hit. "I was the ground troops to target there fortress. I want these guns to be taken offline." After Dreath gave the order all twelve of the tanks uncloaked and commenced firing at the fortress Leningrad. The large photon energy shots hit the wall at all different angels. The troops however could remain cloaked and attack. Six from every group charged the fortress while the other four per group stayed to guard the tanks. Civilians were running and screaming in the chaos. People fell to the ground crying and screaming as the tanks fired every twelve seconds. Some civilians tried to attack the tanks but were blasted with plasma rifles and blown to pieces. The troopers would be the perfect defense and with the fact they were in a crowded city there foes wouldn't risk bombing them as casualties would be extreme.

Alec took out his Rail Driver, It had an energy form that melts a small hole in armor, mainly used to take out drivers and such, Alec ran for the tank in the fery back, then used the thermal scope on the gun and fired at the gunner, driver and everyhing he saw in the tank

The cloaked troops saw Alec running at the tank with the gun. Unfortunately for them the tank only had one pilot and gunner. Alec managed to kill the driver but had his gun shot from his hands by the cloaked troops. When they fire there guns a quick and small glow can be seen. So someone could use this to kill them. Seeing what was happening Dreath ordered them to kill him. "Kill him do it now." He cried.

Alec quickly took out his rocket launcher and shot part of a building, making it collapse, blocking the solders path, alec then backflipped and ran at the tank, he was running and jumping from side to sidr until he got too it, he then opened the tank up and started unloading his 45. Caliber magnum on the gunner

Alec managed to kill the crew of one of the tanks. However while he was doing this a cloaked trooper shot at him. The shot would most defiantly hit his shoulder disarming him. Back on the cruiser Death saw what had happened. "Were does he keep all these weapons and he seems to be helping the HRA then he is a enemy to. Have the troops start slaughtering the civilians I want nothing human living in that city when were done. And how does the siege go?" He said to the crew. "The siege is going well we have twelve cloaked troops inside killing them but the rest are being held off. Some have been seem as they have human blood on them." Said the Sargent. "Fine just issue my orders and go." Dreath said. "As you wish my lord." On the surface many families hid in there homes. But the Voriarn troops broke in and began shooting them. Entire houses became filled with plasma radiated mutilated corpses of many people from children to the elderly.

Alec shruged off the pain and took out a shotgun and shot the cloaked troopers head off, rather than steal the tank he gabbed the soldiers com and contacted dreaths ship "Why hello again, your about to get some company" just then fifteen battle cruiser and forty frigates and destroyers warpes in, along with ten STOLEN EDF Invasion ships, two destroyers began bombarding groups of dreaths troops who were not near any civilians, The Invasion ships began dropping gunships too land tanks, troops and artillery, the gunships also began shooting at ground support "Maybe next time you will be wiser and not attack such a high value target at the start of a war, You better back off, Or we will be forced too evac the remaining civilians then level this city and all your people in it, You can hurt the HRA By attacking this planet, BUT ARE WEALTH AND INCOME IS FROM MARS! Your fighting two factions! Had you complied with that mans orders back on Mars to lower your weapons this war would not be happening! And what kind of Idiot brings weapons too a diplomatic mission FOR A SPECIES THAT HAS NEVER MET YOU? If you are your peoples finest, Then winning this war will be easy" Alec taunted

Receiving Alec's message Dreath was surprisingly calm. "Hm hm hm. Your to much you know that your whole ignorant species. The diplomatic mission went bad because those HRA idiots refuse to listen. They forced our hands in firing. You all think you are so powerful. But look you are a separate faction and despite all you have done I am willing to let you leave. You and your friends leave the HRA and abandon any alliance you have with them and you and billions of innocent civilians will walk away unharmed. Or I will continue to open fire till every last human is a bleeding irradiated pile of flesh. I have given you a chance to leave this war between us and the commissar. You make your choice." Dreath said over the communication.

"Targets acquired. Turning around for a second run." The captain of the fighter squad said, and they began turning around, dropping their power to only 600mph. They began loading their .50 caliber guns, and charged the las cannons that were under the belly of the heavy fighter. Turning around, the heavy fighter began targeting, and when it was fully turned around, they began flying straight for the tanks. "Open fire. Hit the tanks and the soldiers first."

As ordered, two P-1100 heavy fighters each targeted a tank and its infantry, and open fired. Dozens of .50 caliber rounds flew across the battlefield, striking at targets such as the infantry, which, while cloaked, still revealed thermal heat. 45mm rounds fired one after another, hitting the ground and exploding, or smashing into the tank. And the Las Cannon fired. The Las Cannon is an anti tank gun with a supercharged discharge, or a sort of high velocity, high penetration, 75mm energy cannon. They aimed it at the tanks.

As they flew overhead, they all dropped one 1,000 pound bomb, and flew off into the air as it exploded, smashing a building apart and sending it falling in their path. Good. Mission success. They would be delayed in getting to Leningrad. "Start the artillery bombardment."

The doors of the fortress finally sealed shut, covered in a thick layer of titanium and lead. From the buttresses, the bunkers began opening fire. Targeting the thermal heat signatures, the gunners fired accurate 30mm and .50 rounds into the enemy. Large, high velocity and high penetration 105mm, 152mm, and 122mm anti tank guns began firing, smashing into the enemy's Armour.

Even though the enemy was more technologically advanced, the defenders still held the upper hand. The enemy may have fired an 800mm round at them, but it would take a very long time to reload that round. And the small tanks wouldn't have that many rounds or charges on them. But the defenders had stockpiles of all kinds of ammunition. From 10 meter shells that were fired at enemy cruisers, to .303 rounds fired by the small railgun pistols.

"Elevate the siege mortars. Bombard the enemy now, before they reload. That 800mm cannon took a chunk off our wall. A small chunk, but a chunk never the less." The Captain ordered, and the artillery officers began repositioning their huge artillery pieces.

The siege mortar was a massive 800mm mortar, nicknamed BBN, or Big Boy Now, after the fact that most people who survived a mortar round would be changed, and a joke from the pampers commercial. As soon as they were loaded, the Siege Mortars and 220mm artillery began firing. Huge shells were literally flung into the air, smashing into either the ground, a tank, or a building.

Just like the famous 900 day siege of Leningrad, and the horrible battle for Stalingrad, the defenders would make the enemy pay for every inch of ground they took. No surrender. No Mercy. No retreat. The night began to fall, and the first day of the battle was over. The HRA banner hung high in the air, flapping in the breeze.

Any Akrid worms in the area would quickly become attracted to the EDF camp, coming closer and closer. It was soon obvious that they had violent intentions.
