What do the throwable oils do?

In combat, every once in awhile you'll see a hand with kind of... magic waves coming out of it appear as one of your options. Without oils, you can only do a basic boost to a friend with that. WITH an oil, you can give someone a really big boost. The different colors give different kinds of boosts
