Ms. Brown smiled and nodded to Vincent, then turned to Jazmine. "What about you, do you sing?" She asked with a smile. "I don't know if its good, but I do sing." Jazmine replied with a sheepish face. Ms. Brown nodded.
Vincent went and took a seat at an old wooden piano in the room and began to play a beautiful song.
Jazmine's eyes widened as she started to play, then they closed. She had not heard the song before, but the melody gave her a happy feeling as it flowed through the air. Ms. Brown also smiled at the boy, impressed at his talent.
Vincent kept his eyes closed as he played. After a while, he didn't even feel like he was in a classroom. To him, he was in a field with a single tree and only people he considered friends and family. The people were celebrating together, not for anything particular while the boy played. Vincent felt the wind blow on the field as his fingers danced across the ivory keys of the piano. "Music is truly beautiful. An escape like no other. Music can shape hearts in many ways, capable of tearing someone down or bringing them up. Beauty is the only word to describe it." Vincent said aloud as he finished. When he did, he looked around the classroom. "Did i just say that out loud?" He asked, looking at jazmine.
Jazmine smiled and giggled. "Yes, but its true." She said, walking over to him and sitting by him on the bench. "Music is not just a pass time, its a way of life." She said softly. "Its something that comes from the heart and lets us describe our emotions in ways that word cannot. In a way, it shows out true selves..." She looked down at the piano.
Vincent motioned to the piano keys. "Do you want to try, jazmine?"
Jazmine looked down at the keys thoughtfully, then gently placed her figures over them. "I know one song. I had heard it and memorized the keys. Its still my favorite song to this day." She smiled and placed her hands on the keys. Her fingers started to move, causing a soft melody to begin. Jazmine opened her mouth and started to sing.
Hey, must everything in this world change?
Tell me, is there nothing left in this heart to express?
In the depth of night, morning awaits, and the day repeats.
Hey, if even our promise will one day be forgotten
Oh, how I with for this song to reach you.
From the end to a new beginning, these tears greet the day.
Far away. Far away. The shadows of days past yearn for light.
Far away. Far away. I hold on to the delicate shimmer.
The ever-shifting, ever-changing light and shadow,
Just what awaits us beyond them?
(If your wondering, that song is from Fragile Dreams, one of my favorite games. Its called Hikari ^^)

Vincent sat and listened the entire time, his face showing surprise. When she was done, he clapped loudly. "That was amazing, jazmine! I've never heard anything like it! And your ability to memorize music is phenomenal! Your ability to play The piano and sing as beautifully as you do without messing up? You're truly amazing! Teaching you how to play the piano will he easy if you're that good!"
Jazmine felt her face become a dark red. "I-I wouldn't say I'm that good" She stuttered, looking down. "My playing dosent match yours by a longshot, and my voice dosent match up to other singers." She said in a small voice.
Vincent put his hand on her head. "What are you talking about? You're singing is great! You're just being modest. Am I right miss brown?"
Ms. Brown clapped her hands together with a smile. "Yes! You have both shown outstanding displays of music!" She Chimed. Jazmine looked away, her face still red.
Vincent bowed toward the teacher. "Thank you ma'am." Vincent turned to jazmine and looked at her face. "Is something wrong? You're seriously red in the face right now."
"I.. I guess I just don't get praised that often..." She mumbled, scratching the back of her head.
Vincent smiled. "Well, you better get used to it I guess. Because we're friends now and because of that reason you're going to get a lot of compliments from me and other people."
Jazmine smiled at Vincent. "Same to you I guess..." She said with a nervous laughter, feeling happiness spread through her at the word 'friend'. She had never had a friend that was her age before. The thought of it made her inwardly jump with joy.
Vincent looked next to him and found a viola case. "What great luck! Another instrument I can play!" Vincent picked up the case and opened it, revealing the instrument and its bow. Taking both out of the case Vincent brought the bow to the strings and began to play music of the night. (From phantom of the opera.)
Jazmine smiled, recognizing the song from a movie that all the orphans watched a long time ago. The lyrics of the song started to come back to her and she sang them in her head, not wanting to interrupted his playing.
"If you want to sing, jazmine, I don't mind." Vincent said as he paused for a minute to remember part of the song.
"Huh? No no. I don't remember the lyrics all too well and I wouldn't want to mess you up!" She said, looking down at the ground.
Vincent laughed. "Don't worry. As you can see I don't completely remember the song either. And I think you singing it would help me remember."
