Currently just looking about other roleplaying communities and seeing how they are. Been roleplaying for a few years and right now, I'm just branching out. Navigating through the site is a bit awkward for me but nothing I can't figure out.
Still need to setup a few more characters and things but feel free to ask me about anything if you're interested. I hope to get to know the community and have a good time here.

Welcome to the site! I hope you find exactly what you're looking for here.
I know you say you are figuring things out, but if I can make it any easier by answering a question or two, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you kindly for the welcome!
And I think I'm managing so far. I'm more worried about how to start up things here. Should I make two threads, one for preparation and another for the actual roleplaying, or can I just wing it? Also, are one liner threads alright or is this site more directed towards paragraph rps? I'm sorta assuming the latter question depends on the rpers preferences but I'm wondering is all.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Great questions.
If you already have the group that you want to RP with, you can just go ahead and start your RP thread and everyone can jump on in. It's not that unusual for the first few posts in a thread to contain setting info, rules and other information your group/partner will need to immerse themselves fully in the scene or world you are creating, and then do the actual RP posts in the same thread. However, if you're still needing to advertise for players, or you aren't sure what you want the rules & etc to be, it's best to make a separate thread for that kind of OOC decision making and debate.
If you plan to get REALLY detailed with creation of a world, character mechanics and etc, you might even want to look into using a Group so that you will have a mini-site with its own pages and forums for that kind of goodness. Most single scenes won't need that much of a support structure, though, so it depends on your preference.
As for single liners, we have no official position on that. Some RPers will insist that their partners always use paragraphs. Other RPers like the energy of fast-paced short responses to keep themselves immersed. Others still will take a combined approach, writing multiple paragraphs when they need to establish a larger scene or describe some very complex action, and replying with single lines when all their character needs to do is simply needs to agree to whatever was just proposed (for example).
Most players are pretty up front with their preferences, and many will prove flexible so long as a certain level of effort to keep the RP awesome for everyone is on display.
Did this help? I can try again if I didn't make any sense!

Nah, I got it. Thank you!
Now one last question. As someone who's still looking for rpers, is there any place in particular you recommended me to start in?

Hey Dinky! Welcome to RPR! I hope you're enjoying it here! Maybe I can answer that question
If you're looking for someone to RP with I'd recommend you try the Looking for RP forum. Here you can post a quick summary of what kind of RP you are looking for Be sure to use a descriptive title, as that is what will draw people in!
If this proves to be too slow for you, you can always try using the RP Finder. You can select looking for RP which will give you prompts from everyone that has put one in that is online at the time. You can also set up your own prompt and see if someone who is currently online is interested!
I hope this is helpful, good luck finding an awesome RP!
