Just want to know how to add connections to my character from another person’s character.

Go to the character page for the other person's character. Way up at the top you should see a link that says:

+Connect

Click that and it'll bring up a pop up where you can pick which of your characters you want to connect. Once you hit the Connect! button, it'll send a connection request to the other player.
