...so yeah. Hi.

Mm. I've been RPing for... a long time, though I'm presently a bit out of practice. I pretty much swore it off while finishing college, and haven't quite been able to get into it again. I've stumbled across this place in the past, but it never seemed like quite the right place for me... My boyfriend suggested I go ahead and join, though.

I'm most a fantasy person, and I've done science fantasy a lot. Actually, I was building a whole science fantasy world with it's own wiki... but that's currently broken and buried. A number of my characters fit into that world, though.

I'm not too sure about the posting of characters... Aside from the fact that I'm used to folks just having the name and avi for their account, rather than individual characters, I also tend to modify my characters to fit into various settings.

Um. So, yeah. I think I'll just go look around for a bit now...

I saw that you had built your own fantasy world, did you know that you could make your own group with your science fantasy setting? I find groups help me keep things organized If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

The fact that you know what science fantasy is tells me we are probably going to get along. I have been known to go on long rants about the difference between science fiction and science fantasy.

Loki - I saw the groups thing, but as much as I'm trying to dive in here, I don't want to get quite too deep just yet. Although, the bigger reason is that when I took down the old wiki, I didn't save the database right, and now only have the changes log, which is also entirely encrypted... I was slowly working on decrypting it, but I lost track of the tool I was using during the extended period when I didn't have time to touch it, and it's simultaneously dull and frustrating when a lot of it is repeated entries with little changes, and so freaking much of it is just spam... And it'd feel weird starting something without that information available. Even though it, uh... developed from some crazy freeform stuff...

Kim - The term's just not well-known enough, despite being a lot more common these days than science fiction. *shrugs* Although, when I mentioned my world, that thing's an outright mashup. Robots and golems, elves and cyborgs, magic and laser guns... And attempts at reasonable explanations for the lot of it.

One question I do have, though... Is using this site's character system thing required? Because it seems like it'd be awkward to have one character in multiple RPs with very different settings at the same time. I dunno, I'm just not used to it.

The site itself has no particular requirements about how you choose to play your characters. If you wish to create no profiles and simply write with your main user account in such a way that makes it clear which of your characters is acting and when it is you the player speaking, that's totally fine by me. People who are hosting the RPs, either in forums, in their groups, or through private messages, may have their own rules for their own games that you'll have to deal with on a case-by-case basis.
