The Executioner (played by Thekaleidoscope)

OOC LINK HERE

Avarion - a land dominated by gigantic beings, beings that shake the very earth with their passing. Gigantic stone warriors, soaring birds of fire and metal, even some say walking cities. At first the different species of Avarion tried to fight back, sending their hosts against these towering monstrosities.

They all died, thousands trampled underfoot by uncaring feet, cities destroyed within days. For a long time the fate of sentient species hung in the balance, many going extinct altogether. In the end, survivors pooled their resources into one final city, surrounded on all sides by a vast lake. The only way on and off the city was via a giant bridge to the south. This final refuge was named Bastion, the last hope for the world.

Yet even on this lake, even behind the towering city walls, even in sight of central citadel who's walls stretch on upwards into the sky, people still fear that each day will be their last. That some titan will flatten Bastion's defences and with that extinguish the final flame.

And so with the last train in existence to ferry people to and from the city, four adventurers set out, each for their own reasons and purposes, however all shared the same destiny: to uncover the reason for the sudden existence of such beings and to discover a way to bring them down.

Niko (played by Sugarcube)

Niko watched the train fly past, rocks flew from the tracks spraying him with sharp pebbles. He muttered something under his breath and followed the train.
Niko hated living in a coped up city and wanted to explore the world. Along with destroying the beast that destroyed thousands of Avarions.
Bellitudo Shadows (played by Raziel_Samael_Ray)

Bell lived a rather unassuming life within the city. She worked in a tavern, and lived in a tiny house near the edges of the city. But she always longed for more. The stories of her forefathers and their mighty deeds coursed through her veins, filling her with a desire for adventure.

But what adventure could this poor demoness afford? A train ticket alone would cost her a weeks worth of wages, which went towards more needed things like food. She gave a sigh as she saw the distant steam trail of a train leaving the city. It wasn't long after that her shift ended, and she wondered the streets before going home. Yet, soon she found herself at the train station, as if her feet had read her mind, and pulled her towards her desires.
Tevren (played by Phoenixsorcerer24)

Tevren had always lived on the move. Camping out, preparing fish, fruit, and veggies to eat, and always keeping his drinking to milk and water. He was happy to stay in an Inn on the rare chances he stopped in towns, villages, or cities, and he had plenty of experience with his travels. Then that day came when the massive beings and moving cities came, and the world changed practically overnight.

Tevren was one of heaven knows how many or how few people that didn't want to leave his life as an explorer behind in favor of finding a safe place to spend his quested earnings and collect supplies for his travels, but thanks to Ramea, he had very little choice. She led him back to that station 4 or 5 times before he bought a ticket and took the train to Bastion. That was now 2 weeks behind him, and he had grown sick of the place and all the peoples talk of the outside world being lost.

He was sick of the request boards being filled with fliers asking for firewood and fixing fences. It was rewarding work regardless, but it was so unadventurous that it was starting to make Tevrens stomach churn. If he had any milk in his gut, by this point it would be butter. So he decided to change that. He wanted out of Bastion, and he had just completed his last request and had enough coin to afford a ticket. He could afford two if it was an emergency, but he had a plan for the rest if he only had to get one.

He planned to explore more ruins, look for more powerful magical artifacts, and rest his head in the comfort of a different Inn when next he found one. Ramea too was tired of being outside alone at night, and Bastion was very cold and windy at night. The poor falcon could barely sleep and could never keep her feathers preened enough here. She was so sleepy that she even let Tevren take her indoors once a week, and Ramea absolutely despised being indoors in any fashion.

But she was so tired that she slept right through the indoors part and made a break for the window when she had enough good rest. So there Tevren stood at the train station with his coin pouch in his hand and Ramea on his shoulder, staring at the tracks as he gathered his thoughts and prepared to leave Bastion behind.
Niko (played by Sugarcube)

Niko arrived at the Train station soon after and climbed onto the platform. He looked at the gold coins he had collected and watched as two other travelers arrived at the station
Celeste usually traveled from place to place sometimes, heeding the calls for help wherever she was able. She usually resided far off from any sort of major civilization (for some reasons that she wouldn't dwelve into right away), and only really left her palace to take leisurely flights around the mountain areas where she lived. Very rarely did she stray far. It was a simple lifestyle, sure, but what could you do? Celeste was never the 'adventure-seeking' type. Any sort of fighting she avoided while she could. But some sort of trip, or at least something to get her out more seemed to be in order, if she had to be honest.

With that in mind, she grounded herself for a few days and packed a few things for her sudden trip (she had to remove and repack things a couple of times before deciding on a reasonable amount). She finally made up her mind and brought along one canvas bag filled with a couple of books for some leisurely reading sessions, along with some other essentials she required. Celeste took her sweet time saying goodbye to the empty palace that she resided in, and soon after doing so, she took off to the skies towards the train station.

Eventually she did arrive, and she lowered herself down to the station's platform, landing onto it. The celestial scanned the station in almost childlike wonder, finding herself wondering what a train looked like from both inside and out, and why she never thought to come around this area any sooner.

An excited smile crossed her. This was going to be an interesting trip. All she hoped was that she had enough money to cover for the ticket (even though she did indeed have much, much more than enough for it).
Kekoa Nash (played by Forta-ver)

He was there when first the giants came. How long ago, he did not know. Distant thunder, rumbling through the ground was their first warning in the valley he'd long called home. It was noted, quiet talk amongst the clan and their neighbors, but it passed them by and quickly seemed normal. They wrote it off as development in the far-off cities, even when the mountains groaned and the winds bore their agony.

He remembered arguing, then pleading with the clan leader. Take your kinsmen, take those you value most dearly, and flee. You will run for a lifetime, but you will live. Your children will live to bear children, who too shall live.

The clan scoffed at the idea. Said the happenings far away weren't as dire as he feared. And if they were, where was the sense in running out to meet it? No, sense would have them remain - tend their valley as they always had.

He couldn't bear to remind them how this valley was not always theirs. How easily it might return to that state.

When smoke and ash drifted over their mountains, blanketing their trees like snow, it was taken as an omen of tragic happenings elsewhere. Emphasis on elsewhere. It would never enter their hidden home.

Once more, he pleaded. Flee. Leave these lands fallow that your grandchildren's children might one day reclaim them. Take your people and go, like seed before a storm.

His final pleas came the night before it all fell apart. Scatter, he had said. Heed my warnings and flee. If you are still here by sundown tomorrow, I will be the only one to see the morn. To any who would listen, he begged. Don't leave me without kin.

If any survived their invader, he did not know.
He was one of the first to fall and the only to stir from the ashes left in the giant's wake.

It felt like years he had searched for any trace of his kin. Each Turn since had been short and often violent. Sometimes from giants, sometimes other people. Most often from other people... And every time he woke felt more and more like a dream.

The Kekoa that remained seemed a pale shadow by comparison.

Entering Bastion was a dim memory and even now, he drifted. His time wandering behind its walls, assisting its people? It would end shortly with a ticket and a train.

At the brick and steel station, oddly out of place in the stone world around it was the waiting train, its sides covered in the rust of years. The fading cyan paint telling silent tales of days once gone by, peace, progress, life without fear, a life now lost. Dark lettering barely able to summon up the effort to continue displaying its name: The blue lightning. Said at the time of its creation to be the fastest train the world had seen, now the statement was simple fact. All other competition had long since been obliterated.

On the platform itself waited a few bands of nervous farmers, ranging massively in species and sizes. They'd just delivered their latest harvest to the markets of Bastion and were now beginning their outward journey. Out beyond the safety of the walls and the water, out to a landscape controlled by beings with no remorse and all the power.

Beside them huddled twenty soldiers, dressed in the customary silver armour that marked them out as defenders of Bastion. The armour was for show and everyone knew it, especially those soldiers. The looks the troops shared with one another was almost desperate, as if they begged hard enough someone would take their place. Theirs was the front carriage of the four which clung to the back of the machine. The rest awaited their passengers.
Tevren (played by Phoenixsorcerer24)

Tevren looked around at all the people, again the majority of them were fearful beyond words, and while he understood fear was the driving factor that ensured survival, there were beings in the world like himself that held no fear. One such being he'd spot having more a curious and longing look rather than fear and worry as the rest did. With a soft smile he'd approach Bellitudo, curious about why she seemed so distant, unlike most of the rest.

Looking at her hands he saw no ticket, so he thought he'd ask to buy her one just to be nice, "Excuse me, Miss? Were you wanting to board the train?" he asks her curiously, "I haven't bought my ticket yet, but I have enough for two if you'd like one." he offers with a calm tone. The shine of the spear on his back gave away that he was an adventurer and an able fighter, but he wasn't about to take the place of any of the guards. Their begging gazes again made him eager to get the heck out of Bastion.
Niko (played by Sugarcube)

Niko looked around at the crowd, a mischevious grin formed on his screen. He slipped between couples and quietly pick pocketed them.
Stolen bracelets and other accesories were placed into his bag and he crept to a shaded spot. He hummed a old tune and smiled at his collection.
She had taken out one of the books she had brought along and skimmed through it. Sometimes she would glance up and watch the people in the station.

With a light sigh, Celeste watched as the people went along their day with some slight gloom in her blue eyes. She felt a bit.... out of place. While there was some sights and people that were out of the ordinary, she felt as though she was the most unusual out of them all. Maybe it was because she lived alone all these years. That might've been it. Even so, she wasn't too afraid to try and make some friends. Her mind set, her eyes scanned the area once more for someone to try and talk to.

It might be strange to just waltz up and make a conversation. There was a book with conversation starters somewhere back in her library. Maybe she could open up with; 'Where are you headed?' or, 'The weather is very nice today.' Those seemed like decent enough openers.

First the celestial took a deep breath. Then she began walking through the station, giving greetings to everyone she passed, and the passerby not even giving her so much as a glance or the slightest of acknowledgements. It put a slight damper on her mood, needless to say, though she was never known for just giving up.

But she was so lost in thought that she ended up bumping right into someone (Kekoa). The impact made her book fall right out of her hands and onto the floor.

"Oh my! I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed, her face as apologetic as anything.
Kekoa Nash (played by Forta-ver)

Wandering eyes took in only a portion of the platform - noted the soldiers and their discomfort and quickly looked back to the aging train. It seemed better to busy himself with thoughts of its inner workings than the fears of Bastion's defenders. Too many of them looked far too young to be boarding this train.

Too many might not return.

Thankfully someone's collision jolted him from his thoughts. On reflex, Kekoa nodded an acknowledgement and bent to retrieve whatever had been dropped. A book, he'd find, though he wasn't of a mind to read its title.

"No need to fret, Miss. One comes to expect a bit of jostling from time to time." When he rose, he offered a soft (if tired) smile, and slipped the book back into its owner's hands. "Surely no harm was meant, therefore I can take no offense."

In the fleeting moment their eyes met, perhaps she also saw reflected those long years. A kindred old soul. In response to it, he bowed. "A pleasure to meet."
She was going to pick up her book, though he had already beaten her to it. First she accepted the book with a light smile and nodded in response to what he had said. With so many people around, you were bound to hit someone at some point. Maybe she just wasn't used to it yet.

"Oh, I see. Thank you."

In her old age, there was a good chance that she would see something familiar in his eyes as well. It was rather small—but it was big enough to notice. Returning the bow with one of her own, her smile grew a little bit wider. "It's very to meet you too."
