In the captains quarters of an old star frigate, sits an even older man. His fingers caressing the book shelf as he chooses which story to revisit for the evening.
Suddenly the door slides open, an intruder? a seeker of wisdom? it didn't seem to matter.
"Sit." the old man said pulling up a stool "Let me tell you a most wonderful story."
Welcome to Chronicles of Astraeus
A fully realised adventure that will span an entire solar system in a hunt for wealth, wonder and fame. An aim to throw fantasy into the middle of an industrial revolution!
Warning: This RP will not be all sunshine and flowers, there will be fantastical moments of wonder but also plenty of morally grey choices to make between utterly evil things in between the beauty and day saving! if you wish to press on, please continue.

Let me set the stage...

The year is 286, and Astraeus is at peace. The solar system is large as 9 planets and an artificial construct orbit a star, each of these worlds is home to their own race of interstellar being, and the one thing they all share is The Station. The station itself is a sprawling metropolis where all the collective minds of all the races meet and live together in peace, it has led to rapid progress in technology as they all set aside their differences. It's the single space port anywhere in the system where the mighty starships dock and have their hulls repaired with the finest woods and metals from across the galaxy, it's never long before those captains find themselves sailing the solar winds to new adventures.

despite this things are far from perfect, for every citizen that is weighed down by the weight of their pocket there is 10 more beneath them at the rung of society begging for table scraps.
Gangs rule the streets as a police force seems too incompetent to finally put them down for good.
Pirates stalk supposedly secure trade routes all the while uncaring politicians compete in a never ending game for power over Astraeus.

This however is helped by the people willing to stand for what's right, the adventurers guild stands for what's right.
Every citizen of the station knows of the guild, a collection of people willing to put their name down as would be heroes of the hour, thousands of jobs are done by the guild every day by people seeking wealth, fame or just fun.
No matter who you are, be it noble or street urchin, the guild will accept you and give you a equal chance.

Races

Humans
Humans are a strong cultural people, preferring to pursue avenues of charm and deception, infamous for throwing the most fantastical parties and produce some of the greatest visionaries in the system!
Humans are the most numerous of any of the races and can be found on all 9 worlds either as guests or as fully fledged residents.
Their homeworld is Leporem.

Cothraxi (Coth-rax-ee)
The Cothraxi are a large spider like race with large fangs and many eyes, despite a rather hostile appearance they are actually quite peaceful and have an almost perfect functioning society, however they are also known to become vicious with shorter tempers then their counterparts on the other planets. Ontop of all this cothraxi can be born with different features, while some have a fairly human figure others can have massive fangs and many eyes!
Their homeworld is Caclade

Excavatus (Ex-Cah-Var-Tus)
The Excavatus are a race of small sentient robots capable of free movement and thought. They are built from their mysterious planets core by 2 other beings with “Sentiance” (Sentience in their language meaning the same as Soul) allowing them to channel their essence into a new being they create together. The Excavatus society is built on family, tradition and superstition as they built a proud indomitable empire with mysterious advanced technology.
Their homeworld is Ostrollo.

Oth (Oath)
The Oth are a race of mollusc like creatures often carrying a vast shell upon their back. The Oth are often described as being in constant thought and can think at speeds much faster than the other races. They are well suited to dark damp environments.
Their homeworld is Noctus.

Jolu (Jo-Loo)
A race of tall Avian creatures with a wide variety of beautiful colours and feathers between them. This race is fast and agile however is flawed with a strong sense of vanity and strive on a culture of superiority over others, needless to say this has lead to many complications since The Founding.
Their Homeworld is Quonup.

Langwie (Lang-Wee)
A race of reptilian people, this is a race full of natural killing potential. Sharp teeth, claws and thick hides make them rather formidable to encounter however are more concerned with their own nobility. It’s rare to see a Langwie pursuing petty angles and their elders are considered very wise as they trade strength for intellect. Generally on the solar stage they lead the majority of task forces when the need for violence arises.
Their homeworld is Hydrus.

Feroxi (Fur-Ox-Eye)
This race is famous for its intense fitness and animalistic tendencies. They are almost completely covered in hair and develop a strong pack mentality. They main language consists mostly of grunts and body language rather than words, this makes the other races uncomfortable at times however they do bring a strong sense of faithful companion as after they accept you as a friend there’s little they won’t do for you.
Their homeworld is Theramore.

Susquito (Suss-Key-Toe)
Grown from tiny potted plants, the Susquito are a race of sentient plant life that have innate regenerative abilities. They are wide spread across Astraeus taking care of and nurturing plants and wildlife. This has lead to them often spearheading many arguments over the ethical destruction of planets ecosystems in the name of progress proving the Susquito as valuable if infuriating diplomats.
Their homeworld is Eyra.

Syrenox (Si-Ren-Ox)
The Syrenox benefit from a unique look and homeworld. They are blessed with thick rubber hides and gills to breathe underwater, this does mean however they are the most recluse of all the other races due to a requirement to rest in water at regular intervals.
Their homeworld is Klodex.

Planets
Caclade: Caclade is a planet wide archipelago of sheer cliffs, the locals build their homes into these cliffs creating fantastical hive cities.

Eyra: Eyra is mostly plantlife, jungles are rampant and clearings are few, the only thing the jungle gives way for is the oceans said to be some of thickest around with life! the locals live in stone buildings.

Hydrus: a beautiful planet with a lot of unique culture and plant life, often hard to find anywhere else in the system the brightly coloured plants that bloom in a summer sky is a welcome spectacle. The locals live in clay and ceramic houses.

Leporem: A planet dominated in an eternal autumn climate, grass grows a deep orange and the trees grow maroon leaves, all the while fruit grow. it's a stunning sight. the locals live in houses of stone and wood.

Noctus: due to the orbit of one of their 2 moons, Noctus is under a perpetual eclipse! the planet is always at night. The plants grow a dark navy blue and the creatures have natural glows to them through these vast murky swamps. The locals live among the trees that grow thick stumps.

Ostrollo: A large wasteland of a planet, mostly desert broken up by occasional vast lakes you could almost mistake for an ocean. The locals build their homes from sandstone and metal.

Quonup: A tropical planet with sandy beaches and perfect weather! The jungles are dense and the animals unique. The locals live in clay and straw buildings.

Klodex: This planet is basically completely ocean, underwater cities in between kelp forests decorate the landscape all the while beats of various sizes swim alongside it's locals. The buildings are made from corals and sandstone.

Theramore: A planet with gorgeous clearings and charming forests, the locals embrace the simplicities of a feudal life. The locals live in wooden buildings.

The Station: A strange metal structure that appeared at what is now known as year 0, little is known of the origin of how the 9 races come to find it and build the swirling metropolis that is is now, but it's done.

Disclaimer: A few things I want to cover before ending this article.
    1. Please don't make more than 2 characters, as awesome as it is to see someone multitask like a pro I don't want one person being half the cast, so for now the limit is two.

    2. You are normal, to an extent... feel free to be a nobleman or a street urchin, but no Kings or crimelords for example.

    3. You are currently on The Station. Be you born there or not, it's where you are now, we'll explore the universe in time, for now however we are all at The Station.

Lastly a brief touch on...
Magic!
Magic does exist in Astraeus, however not in a traditional sense, it's too spoilery to go into details on but this isn't the standard "Study hard and learn this spell" or "I was born with magical powers". I will explain more later but for now don't worry about it! *Shifts eyes*

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.

Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Details: Occasional dice use, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.

Personality: Quirky, just as ready to throw himself into danger as he is to jump out of it.
