MasterWinter

Hi all, Winter here.

So. I've been doing a lot of musing over something lately, while trying to get my mind off my rl for now.

Anyways!

Looking at the edit I currently am using for my writer's page, Noctis Caelum from the FF series, it makes me want to create an OC based off the look plus my writer's name.

Now. Before any of you go: Well why would you want to base an OC off yourself? That's not what I am meaning.

Minor Edit: To help clarify a bit more: Its not me inserting myself into the character. It's just taking my user name and default image, to make an OC. It's not me myself turning into an OC. Just using those two minor things I stated, and using them to make an OC that revolves around my writer name and default image because the one of Noctis is most suiting of all my edits to me.

When looking at my writer's page, there is a spot that reads: "I am the fury of winter personified."

That's basically what I want to do with an OC. Turn it into a personified version of Winter or the fury of winter. You get the idea of what I am getting at. I hope at any rate.

No. I don't know what exactly I'll come up with for this OC, other than the fact it will be of the ice element and such. This is just something that has been, shall we say, ping-ponging in my head recently. I really like the edit I did for Noctis, and things are just slowly starting to say: HEY! Wouldn't this be cool if you did this?

I don't know. It might not work out, and just remain as a random thought of mine. But anyways. Thought to run this by people in general, see what is thought.

Bonus: Would you ever make some kind of OC based off of your name and or writer's image? If your writer's image is of you yourself, you don't have to say you'd use it for an OC.
A potato with heart eyes and rabbit ears named Somnom would be a super weird character.

I should have paid closer attention to you image before hand. I thought the hearts were on the cheeks, not for the eyes. -headdesk with a dunce cap on-
That's a pretty cool idea actually! :) Love it!

Also Somnom! LOL so cute.

For me personally... my icon is a chibi depiction of me, so that wouldn't be related but...

My username was technically going to be 'Mercy is in reach'. I imagine a character named Mercy, maybe a nickname for Marceline, used to be called Marce, over the years turned into Mercy. They're probably a Orc character who rebels against their races traditions and is particularly involved in evangelism whether through comfort or...perhaps even well intended force. I see them bounty hunting and 'Mercy is in reach' being their catch phrase, where they offer mercy, if the other person promises to turn their life around and make things up for what they did.
I just had to post here because of the bonus alone due to the irony my answer holds in regards to that question....

My user name is based directly on a sci fi species I have worked on for years. I have 4 Voldarian characters, a Voldarian run space station, and am actively working on a Voldarian (empire) owned starship character. As luck would have it, one of my closest rpr friends Syl made my profile image based on my user name, which is based on my original species....which my OCs in question are based on. Obviously I can't use it for a character but I suppose I might use it for a picture/icon on my Voldarian racial page someday if I ever replace my icon (extremely unlikely)

^-^ Wewt! Glad you like it! Now. If only I could get my brain to work. That would be fantastic! XD

You know. That does sound like a very good concept for an OC. It would be interesting if you did create an OC like that.

When I spotted your user name, it made me think of the character from Overwatch named Mercy. That's what I thought the name came from. Lol!

Syl is very talented for creating that image. And that is quite impressive that you've accomplished all of that thus far. I do hope you will continue with the Voldarian Empire. Something like what you are doing is no easy thing, and if you keep it up you'll be happy you did so. Best of luck to you!
Mipps

I suppose the black cat that jams to music named Mipps would be a super cute character... but not something I would roleplay with xD
I guess a Fox named Kruhee would be fine. I mean... Yeah, it would be fine. Just a normal fox doing things like hunting mice in the snow.

As a general rule I try to separate myself as far from my characters as I can. But if that's something you want to do go for it. I've seen a way worse self insertion.
My icon is actually concept art of my shapeshifter character Lisa, and Dazzling Dragon is short for Dazzling Dragon Studios, which is the name I use for my art accounts on social media. My username is also where I get the name for my persona/mascot, Dazzle the Noodle Dragon.

So technically, I already made two characters out of my name and image. Though...a character that’s literally got the split-face in my picture and a shiny dragon-like body would make a pretty freaky creature.

(Huh. Where’d I put my sketchbook?)

Oh! The embodiment of winter is a great idea. A force of nature personified! You have plenty of mythical, folklore and pop culture characters to model from, then many ways to twist it!

I have no personal issue with self inserts, although if they’re too much like you, someone taking a disliking to them can cause issues, because the blurrier the line between you and your OC, the harder it is to separate yourself from them. I don’t think you really ARE winter personified, so I think you’ll be okay.
Well, I guess I came from an entirely different direction! :D

My writer username is based off on my very first character I started writing with a little more than a year ago. I guess I am just that new to role playing, huh. :D

But my personal preference is to add a little bit of soul in each of my characters; enough to make them live truly but not so much that I would start to identify with them. I guess it also comes to what we want to get out of writing the characters? Is this merely a hobby, or is it about exploring certain themes and interactions which are somehow relevant to us? Everyone is different, and there’s so much beauty in that.

Just as a gentle heads up/reminder: This is not me doing a self insertion of myself into an OC.
@Winter, I would encourage you to go for it. An ice elemental would be an awesome character! (I have myself a fire elemental, and she's loads fun to play! :D)

Sweet! She sounds fun too!

B.t.w! When I first saw your display name, I thought of Dorian Gray from League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Except I didn't know what the M was for. But I love how you came up with the name. ^-^
