There's an amazing piece of gear for sale in a bazaar. Or maybe the last piece of cake available in a bakery -- whatever it is, there is something for sale that your character dearly wants, but there is only one more left... And other people's characters want it too!Spice up the holiday season with some RP by creating an IC forum topic, detailing the sort of market and the amazing one of a kind item in it, and wait for other shoppers, both wonderful and terrible, to come fight you for it. Or argue over it. Or try to charm you into giving it up.

Well, I've already got one up.
Igf anyone wants to try and match a three-centuries old exile warrior-prince from a near-totally destroyed country in a bidding war for an ancient magical artefact that contains arcane knowledge... look up the RP in the Fantasy section, can't really miss it.
Of course said 'arcane' knowledge could be anything, from an ancient magitech superweapon, to a method for turning lead to gold to a really awesome ancient recipe for apple pie; seriously the Ancients made epic apple pie. Why d'ya think their civilisation got wiped out? The 'Insane Dark Gods of Doom' really missed the apple pie their former slaves baked for them.
