I'm almost afraid to say it for fear of jinxing it, but for the last two weeks every test of our time-out fixes has come back looking good. There should now be no more problems with the server severing connections early when it notices an uptick in traffic. You should now stay logged in until at least ten hours since the last time you sent something to our server (Followed a link somewhere on the site, updated a widget, created a new character, made a comment, anything that gives us a ping) or until you close your browser. Actually, it's a bit longer than ten hours, but I hesitate to disclose the exact amount of allowed idle time because I don't want anyone playing chicken with the server anymore. You know who you are. Yes you.If you can type continuously for 10+ hours, we are duly impressed, but please remember to save now and again. I think most of you will never see this limit, but please remember; you are on the internet. We will always try to make the Repository as reliable as we can, but some things will always be out of our control. Protect your data as if you were a noble samurai defending your charge from the sneakiest ninjas. Save your work. If you've worked on something long enough that you wouldn't want to redo it, just be sure to quickly copy and paste it into another window before you hit the submit button. This goes for any website you use, anywhere. You never know when your wireless card will go out unexpectedly, or a server between you and us will be slacking off, or a sudden tectonic-shattering earthquake will split the earth wide and swallow our host into the gloom.
That said, I know I'm breathing a little easier knowing that at least this issue has been addressed.
