I'm about to begin a clean-up process to reclaim some usernames that aren't in use. If you're an infrequent user, don't panic! The new criteria have been crafted to prevent members from losing time, effort or financial investments.EDIT: TO BE VERY CLEAR this cleanup is only for empty and inactive accounts. If you store characters (OR groups) here, this won't affect you.
For more than a year now, I've been deleting accounts that are registered but never once logged into after 31 days. I'm going to expand that to include some other obviously abandonded accounts.
Starting next week, accounts may be deleted if they match all of the following criteria:
- The account has been inactive for six months or more
- The account owns 0 characters and 0 groups -OR- owns only characters and groups with no widgets on their profiles (in other words, blank characters/groups don't count).
- The account is not epic
- The account does not have any extra page slots
- The account does not have any extra character slots
Questions? Concerns? Comment! Or, meet with me in real-time during my office hours this weekend.

What if you have characters, but all of them are anonymous?
Since you have character profiles with us, your account will not be effected by this.
Again, this is only for inactive and empty accounts.

I do not get to log on here much due to rl and my health tends to prevent me from doing so. I would hope my account does not get deleted as i have all my info for my characters i have on here i do not have any groups that i have joined or anything due to not getting on much to begin with.
@Crystie78 - No, you don't need to pay to remain a member. All you need to do is have at least one character or group with at least one widget on its profile (in other words, non-blank).
Being an epic member or purchasing some other perk will allow you to keep a totally empty account open, but I don't know why anyone would want to pay to keep an account they aren't using for anything.
The point of this is to clean up accounts that aren't being used for anything. If you're using your account for something, even if that something is storing character profiles that you don't edit very often, it won't effect you.

Sorry Kim, this is a bit confusing. You say if we are not epic, or if we don't have any extra character slots, our account will be deleted? Does that mean we need to pay in order to keep being a member? If not, why would you add those extra requirements?? @_@ confused!!
@Rhythm - Their account will be closed in the same manner that people who quit close their accounts, so kudos they gave would remain.
@Rhythm The account will be deleted, so any kudos you received from them will be treated like all kudos from deleted members. They simply stay in your profile with the name crossed out and no longer linking to a profile.

Scroll down a little to TheLily's kudos for me, she deleted her account but the kudos stayed. This won't change when empty accounts are cleaned out.

If you have Kudos from a user who fits ALL of the following on the list, will your kudo they gave you vanish as if they never gave it to you, or will it be like in the case of people who have quit the site and just have their name marked out?
@vampireknightfangirl: Epicness is a subscription on the site, as found here. It runs out if you don't rewew it, but there are permanent additions for character slots and pages. Not to worry though, you don't need to be a paying member to keep your account.
Um, what does it mean if an account isn't epic?
what is an epic account is it like a paid account or what?

Yay!
I want to mention that I'm very supportive of this type of clean-up. It ensures that only truly abandoned accounts are removed without putting people who may be gone for a while at risk. Love it!

Oh, I can see how that could be confusing. Updated the phrasing to clarify.
@Maddison Are you talking about the thing where accounts get deleted even if they have characters, but the characters have no widgets? I think I get why you're confused.
"owns 0 characters and 0 groups with no widgets on their profiles"
This reads like "If you don't have a character without a widget, your account will get deleted", which conflicts with the other statement. I think what Kim means is that accounts that have characters, but none of those characters have widgets (resulting in 100% blank profiles), will be deleted too, but only if those are the only profiles on the account. So if you have 5 character profiles with no widgets, but you have 1 character profile with widgets, the account will remain intact.
If that isn't what you're confused about, then it sure confused me for a moment!

I'm not sure I understand your question, Maddison, but to clarify, an individual account that matches all of the criteria in that list on its own is eligible for deletion.
I don't know what you mean by "why if there characters are full they will be deleted but if theres none they will be deleted".

Wait why if there characters are full they will be deleted but if theres none they will be deleted and you said aand i qoute "Starting next week, accounts may be deleted if they match all of the following criteria:" So no ones acout will be deleted?
@Terel - if he's currently active, it won't do anything to him.
Sounds good, though I do have one friend on here who doesn't have any groups or characters or activity on this site beyond PMs. He was a GM on a RPing forum I used to frequent and we still talk about the main setting on the site sometimes, changes and developments in it that kind of thing. I just hope this spring cleaning won't accidentally deleted him xD
Spring cleaning sounds about good right now.
This is great! It's too bad there can't be a visual, because this is my favourite type of cleaning. Especially since I don't have to do it myself!
