For the discussion, nothing different to say. Most of others had already explained parts of my thoughts very well. I'm probably repeating this, though yes, I'd like a bit more effort for RP ads, but I certainly won't feel like diving in if too much detail is given. There are factors for this, and they've already been shared with us in the discussion.

Reading the transcript, I see I missed a question or two aimed either at me directly, or a more on-topic one aimed at the general participants. I'd wonder if there was a way to--I don't know--slow down things, a bit, so a set element could be discussed until everyone involved had a chance to respond. I remember the comments flying so fast I couldn't really keep up; in the time I spent thinking of one comment or question, sometimes the discussion would have moved on.
Oh, I missed it! Total bummer! But I'm definitely gonna have to make it to this weekend's discussion; I need to hear what everyone has to say and get some advice about that one subject as well.

these little meetings look like a lot of fun! i'll try to make it next time.
adding my own opinion to the mix, i feel rp ads should be short but concise. they are adverts after all, shiny arrows pointing to the source! perhaps it may be useful for some people to think about the synopses at the backs of books - what kinds of summaries tempt you to flick through a book, or put it back on the shelf?
the best ones for me give just enough information to convey the mood of the setting, the themes the plot may/will contain, but leave enough spaces to tantalize the imagination. then to 'flick through' in the case of RP, there could be links provided to the group, thread, or character pages for delving deeper. however, if the summary is TOO vague, my interest isn't hooked enough to invest effort in further reading. the 'just enough detail' list that kim posted in this log looks great!
it's always going to be a subjective thing, but i would imagine most people don't want to have to read a novel in order to figure out what it's about! particularly in the case of original settings, if you are able break up the lore into key phrases and words, it'll be much easier for a newcomer to digest, and figure out if they like where it's going. in order for a 1v1 rp to be successful and enjoyable, there needs to be good communication and collaboration between players anyway, so i figure it's better to avoid potentially overloading people with information straight away, and let the details develop via brainstorming and negotiation.
