The winners of this year's cooking contest have provided us with some visually spectacular entries; as well as some delicious recipes for those who want to duplicate their culinary masterpieces at home!Heimdall's Crisples
Crispels are a very simple dessert that are essentially fried pie crust covered in clarified honey. They would have been a relatively common dessert, and though the original medieval recipe doesn't call for it, Heimdall dolled it up with some spices. You could also mix cinnamon or cardamom right into the dough!
For the complete recipe for this historically accurate medieval delight (as well as a beverage to go with it), go here.
rat's Epic Party Hats
A nod to the Healing Party Hats we were all so reliant on during our Epic Week adventure, rat managed to re-create this ubiquotous party prop in ice cream cones, chocolate and candies.
Want to make some edible party hats of your very own? You can find the recipe here!
Alecia's Apple Flour Cake
Have you ever wondered how people made cakes before refined sugar was widely available? I hadn't put much thought into it either, but I was fascinated to learn from Alecia that one of the ways people accomplished medieval party snacks was by setting aside a portion of the year's apple harvest to be dried and milled into flour -- the sweetness of the apples could be a stand-in for sugar!
To try this historically accurate recipe, visit Alecia's guide here.
Silverbloodvrs's Hobbit Cake
Even with a step-by-step guide to follow, I'm not sure I could replicate the culinary artistry that Silverbloodvrs shared with us with this Hobbit cake!
See more photos and get the guide here.
Dragonfire's Guardian Cake
Another display of technical mastery and artistry to dazzle the senses! Dragonfire recreated all three of the Forest Guardians that we awakened during our Epic Week questline. These beauties were sculpted in fondant/gumpaste over the course of five whole days, and accented with candies and confectioner's glitter.

OMG, working with fondant. That takes dedication, especially when you're getting your subjects on the fly!
All of these are pretty awesome. I'm gonna be saving the recipes and eventually relinking them on my cooking blog once life calms down a bit.
Good work all!
