With the redesign update behind me, I settled in to start producing more templates. And then I fell down a rabbit hole and found myself in a crazy, mixed up world where every one of our currently existing templates was crying out to be updated, and got stuck there for a few weeks.
Emerging from this wonderland where big ol' refactoring projects got completed, the underlying code that serves up character pages is now much more flexible. Even now, it beckons me to run away with it to a place where better templates and more features are within my grasp. Oh new profile code, your siren song is irresistable!
What you'll notice right away
The toolbars on character profiles now sport a dropdown menu that will let you quickly navigate back to any section of the site.
As for the templates themselves, most of them look nearly identical to their old selves. A handful got tweaked in minor ways -- mostly problem fixes to make them work better in IE, or tweaked color contrasts to help prevent text from blending into backgrounds.
There's a new template that arrived with the updated ones.
What this update will make possible
- While I was under the hood, I added programmatic support for nested navigation pages. That means some day soon, you will be able to arrange your character profile pages to have drop down menus, and many more extra pages!
- Creating a better way to preview custom templates while working on them is now possible.
- Creating new default templates is a much easier proposition for me, so I really can settle down and start working my way through the list of template requests.
- I also updated the file type declaration, which has the upside of making IE behave more reliably, but the downside of needing to update nearly all the templates for every browser. If you have a custom template that needs attention after this update, let me know right away and I will help you get it back into ship shape.

This makes me haaapppyyy.
Holy crap, YES!
Just holler if you still me to help out with those templates, especially recolors. Once winter break comes I'll have a lot of time to spare and I'd love to help. Maybe even finishing my previous project, eh? EH?

Better-working for IE! Yay! Love you Kim!
