You didn't think we'd celebrate a normal holiday this year, did you?The RP repository is a social experiment, constantly looking for ways to maintain one of the most friendly and positive attitudes you can find anywhere on the 'net. As with any experiment, the only sensible thing to do is constantly evaluate the data, interpret the results, and then try a new experiment to see if you can get even closer to what's right.
Sometimes, we make mistakes, and we have to apologize and try something else until we get it right.
But one thing we do know for certain: Being your best self all the time is hard. It's also really, really worth it.
So in this week long festival of Being Excellent to One Another, we'll take some time to appreciate our friendships, seek out new ways to be patient with each other's idiosyncrasies even when the rest of life is the pits, and celebrate what makes this community (and each other) totally awesome.
After all, if a Sith and a Jedi can get married, we can all find a way to Be Excellent To One Another.
Does your crazy made up holiday have presents?
IT SURE DOES! It wouldn't be the holidays without some gift giving.
For this week of Being Excellent to Each Other, when you give another member the gift of an epic membership, you'll get the same length membership for yourself for free. That's two gifts for the price of one! But really, it's three gifts for the price of one. What's the third gift you ask? Helping to keep the site free and open for everyone by supporting the RP repository.
Excellence for the future
So, to kick off the festival, I'd like to reopen that perennial discussion: How do we keep that community feeling forever, especially now that we've passed 3,000 users and our activity numbers have been jumping daily? Your feedback has helped guide our policies since the days of the site opening, and I can't wait to hear how your thoughts have evolved over the last year.
