This was such a busy year! I've picked a couple of my favorite highlights from it to focus on for our look back.First up: we got the walragotchi and free pet rocks for everyone on the RPR, in one of my favorite April Fool stunts that were actually just a feature release for the site yet. And may we enjoy playing with our pets for realsies forevermore.Epic Week this year was a deep dive into the lore behind Moa, the wandering merchant who has been visiting the RPR for years. It was one of my favorite Epic Week plots in awhile, fleshing out our world dramatically. Plus, we got the Gila Dragon and our ongoing egg shortage... What RPR lore are you hoping to get next year?
Oh, speaking of RPR lore, we got an RPR lore wiki that anyone can contribite to! It already has cool articles like this one about the history of Moa on the site and this collection of the RPR new years' babies
Of course, the big headline was the Lemonade Stand, a fundraiser to raise money so that I can focus on work for Operation Terra Incognita. This was an outpouring of community support that still makes me misty to think on. We absolutely smashed our goals.And those smashed goals have led directly to development time, as hoped. Operation Terra Incognita has been going steadily in the background...
- The super key thing, a standardized avatar sheet. This was a big blocker that needed a lot of thinking time to get right, but very little else could happen around it.
- Resources for artists to start producing their own assets and even full custom avatars
- A series of recolor tools that allow artists to take one avatar accessory or hairstyle and automatically recolor it into all 75 supported color ramps, saving a huge amount of time.
- A mostly complete UI to allow folks to take all the avatar assets available to them and design two avatars per character profile (plus a rep for themselves as the player)
- The start of a UI to upload custom-made assets, either for your own use or to share/sell to the community.
- A test tool to let you upload your own avatar art and see how it will work in action, when walking around on a map, sitting down, making faces, etc.
These were big leaps forward, made possible by you. I put a brief pause on production to let the absolutely chaotic holiday months get past us where deep focus was much harder, and have been preparing myself to dive back in in 2024 Q1 by tackling -- well, let's wait until tomorrow to talk about next year.

2023 Highlights
This year has been a year of changes for me, mostly for the good, and I have come to feel much better than I have since 2019. Much of the highlight of this year for me has to do with my randomly meeting a guy in my last weeks as a contracted traveling nurse in the first part of the year. Due to a couple bad relationship experiences I've had in my life (one in particular), I haven't sought getting into another one. I had never really re-thought that decision ... until this year.
Sometimes things just kind of happen, and this series of events left me wondering how and why I was blessed like this. I started looking for the 'catch'... so much so I could have blown the whole thing if I kept it up.
Fortunately, after some soul-searching, I decided to crack open the door of this castle fortress I had built around my heart and let this man at least look inside. In the course of six months, we have gone from complete strangers randomly meeting in a professional manner as we were doing our jobs (He is a fireman/EMT who brought an accident victim into the ER where I was working that day) to living together and considering some really serious life choices for us both. He has been wonderful in getting me to better look after my own health, and we have done a lot of hiking and going to events around town. I feel the best I have both physically and mentally than I have in a very long time.
If I haven't been as active on RPR or elsewhere online this year, this is why. I've been spending less time online and more time in real life, and by doing so, it has reinvigorated my creativity and I find myself enjoying the time I do commit to RPR even more now!
For my RP Repository 2023 highlight, it is a story I'm writing with my best friend here between two of our characters.It's moving slowly, but it is my favorite roleplay of 2023!
What is in store for 2024 which is only thirteen minutes away? We shall see.... We are downtown and are waiting for the Space Needle fireworks and drone show as this year runs out!

I haven't been super active in 2023, so I do hope to join more fun activities this 2024! From how much changes and new items there are now (Still feeling sad about not getting a rainbow cake. Huhu), I really missed a lot. Anyway, I'm really excited and looking forward to this year's surprises! Great job everyone and continue thriving and booming with awesomeness RPR Fam! 💖💖💖
It's been a rough year, and I'm expected at least a rocky start to the coming year. But here's to hoping I can start finally getting things to start working out and getting better. Hopefully, I'll be able to start being more active around here again, too.
For me 2023 was bumpy as hell between work frauds and other disappointments, and culminated in a cold / flu / bronchitis / infection, but it's also been the year I hopefully found a serious job that is promising so well and it allowed me to do things I had been looking foward to and now I can hopefully return to more steady creative stuff - writing, drawing, animating - and *finally* draw a breath! Maybe even fulfill some long-waiting projects like my graphic novel? Who knows, who knows! For sure, I have a hopeful mindset for 2024 which is more than I could say recently, and that means a lot!
Thank you for another great year Kim! Must say Epic Week was my highlight. A ton of fun, and the Gila Dragon is such a sweetheart.
my RPR highlight was either the very existence of boba items (plus being able to support the site by buying them) or winning my li'l spooky walrus friend (the pets feature in general makes me so happy.)
as for an IRL highlight, probably dating my lovely girlfriend, getting to spend time with her and becoming closer (we were close friends already but now it all just feels extra special

honestly 2023 has been a pretty okay year for me, especially towards the later half where I got to go to some fun events with the people I care about, and I got some meds that have vastly improved my mental health
things are just kinda starting to get brighter for me ^.^
not that there weren't bad things too, but I'm focusing on the good and hoping the future will be even better
as for an IRL highlight, probably dating my lovely girlfriend, getting to spend time with her and becoming closer (we were close friends already but now it all just feels extra special

I'd have to say my highlight happened outside of RPR -- a new, promising job, a place to stay (live), and a new, promising job for my partner, our health and our cats' health, the start of our savings (hopefully!) so we can have an even better future, and my getting slowly reintroduced back into role-play and writing in general.
It's been a bustling year and frankly, the ending of it had more highlights than the beginning and middle which were generally chaotic for the most part. Hah hah...
I'm hoping for a prosperous New Year ahead -- one where we don't have to fight to live so hard and just progress and move forward.
As for the site -- I'm hoping most definitely for my lore. Maybe Moa can even bring back some old gimmicks from previous Epic Weeks that I completely missed out on! Epic Week has to be my favorite on RPR, hands down, I think! This year's was a hoot! Here's to the next!

The Masquerades really are SO much fun!
Another year of RPR!
My highlight of this year was the Winter Masquerade, ngl!! Though I wasn't able to attend fully, it was still amazing to see everyone. Reminds me of 2022's masquerade and how much fun I had then, too.
