What a month! February was filled with fun like a sweetheart sale and a battle cry contest, and goodies were added like support for shift-enter in the chat. Plus, moderator Darth_Angelus visited RP repository HQ and helped with the preparations for our second Anniversary. Let me just say: No two year old on Earth has ever had a bigger birthday bash. It's possible that a two year old on Mars has had a bigger party, though. We're still looking into that.
But without further ado, let's take a peek in on some of the big changes this month.
Progress on groups
Do you hear that sound? It's the roar of a hot forge, the clang of heated metal being struck upon the anvil. It's the sound of the Groups & Guild system being reforged into something legendary.
All month, massive effort has been poured into moving Groups out of alpha and toward their final form.
Thus far, most of this bustle has remained invisible -- a great deal of the necessary changes will all have to be launched together, and an enormous amount of "logic work" needed to be done to ensure that what is being built will be flexible, robust, easy to use and easy to expand upon later.
So if things look quiet now, just know that the armies of changes are gathering just over the horizon. And it's going to be pretty amazing.
That said, a few changes have managed to filter through already. Here's some of the changes that snuck through this month:
- Fixed some display errors when adding activity widgets to groups
- Groups may now bar applications based on age.
- If you start a group with no age restrictions but later add one, you will be notified of how many users are under the new minimum age and given the option to have them all automatically removed from the roster.
- Group applications can now be approved or denied en masse
- When an application is accepted or rejected, the applicant will be notified of the decision via private message
- Portraits on membersip applications are now clickable
- Completed applications that have been accepted or denied can now be reviewed
- When someone applies to join the group, the founder is notified via private message
Looking forward to a much longer list next month!
Name Change Tokens
This month marked the introduction of name change tokens, for those times when you feel that you've just outgrown a name a younger version of yourself thought was cool. To take advantage of this feature, Visit Dashboard > Your Profile and click on the pencil next to your username. For little changes, like fixing the capitalization of your username, you can go wild. For more serious changes, you will need to get ahold of a name change token.
For all the deets on how name changes work, check out this news post all about their intricacies.
Bug fixes
A sampling of bugs that were exterminated in February:
- Fixed guestbook widgets on character pages telling people that the character responded to a guestbook comment that they had made, even if it was a response to someone else.
- Kudos are now taken down when a character or account is deleted
- Old kudos left over from deleted characters prior to the fix have been cleaned up.
- Killed collapse tag apostrophe bug
- Stopped collapse tags from causing the chat to freeze

Someone get Lorvilran a cookie!
can I eat something now?!
PM who got bumped and I'll put them back?
Wooo! Yeah, it bumped six players and I know 5 of them aren't underage (their profiles also state they are of age.)
Glad I found a bug! These are still some awesome edits to groups.

Derp. It was being dumb about retrieving player birthdays. I've got a patch on it, testing it now.
Sounds like you found a bug, Dylan! I'm on it!
It does not detect characters that are ICly underage. It's meant to find and remove players (and their characters) that are under your age limit.

Whoop! Just saw that it notified me.. though how does it find out which characters are underage? As an example, it removed one of my characters from the group who is neither underage and neither am I, the player, underage.
It seemed to do the same with about the four other characters it removed.

AGE RESTRICTIONS YAY!
Curious question... I go to put on the age restrictions, but will it tell me who is underaged before I remove them?

That image doesn't do them justice, it's a rather impressive collection of notes!
Just wait until you see what Kim has planned
