Just last week I declared 2013 the year of the group. Today I bring you the first delivery of sweet, succelent features, designed to make RPR groups the ultimate in running your games.
Introducing: Group Calendars
Use them to:- Set up your weekly game
- Plan when you're all going to be online
- Remember IC holidays
- Have players RSVP or leave comments
- See which of your friends are going to be there
- Get reminders to attend right on your homepage (and other pages throughout the site)!
Setting up your first event is easy. Open up your group, and pick the new icon:
Group Events
This section will allow you to manage everything on your group's calendar. Just click the big red "Add New Events" button, and you're off!
As soon as you have upcoming events scheduled for your group, a new page will appear on the group's profile with a brand spanking new calendar of events for your members to see!
Upcoming Events Widget
What's that? A simple calendar is not enough for you? Then perhaps an event widget will slake your thirst for scheduling!
If you want to give your members reminders of upcoming events, try the new "Upcoming Events Widget". Just drag it on to your group profile page or group sidebar, and it will immediately start listing your upcoming events, starting with those happening the soonest. Aww yeah!
Comments on Announcements
For months, we teased that members would be able to comment on group announcements -- now, that feature is live. Trumpet your group's news to the world, and let your players react!
And more...
This update also included a number of minor bug fixes and subtle enhancements to the group management interface, but there is much, much more planned for groups in the coming months. Hold on to your hats, mighty denizens of the RPR! I won't stop until I've wowed you.

The event option is pretty darn awesome. I've been shoving links at people to RSVP for things!
*BODYSLAM* I think you'll like the event too!
YESS! SUCCESS! *bodyslam*
I just used the group event function for something this week and it popped up on the side of my homepage! BRILLIANT! Kim you're amazing!
Hey Dylan! Making calendars available publicly is a planned feature, and can be up voted by interested parties.
When I say reminders, they're more like the birthday reminders. They start appearing a week prior to event in the sidebar of various pages, including the home page, dashboard, news and others -- this way, it doesn't get buried in the day to day activities, and helps to make sure everyone gets together on time. They'll go bold on the day they happen, to call extra attention to themselves.

Since this was first hinted at forever ago! I was crazy excited for this option. I've been using it every possible chance I get!
A few things... by reminders, do you mean when it gets closer to the event there will be a notice in your notification feed? If not, I think this would be amazing.
I'd also suggest having it viewable for non-members, maybe with the regular warnings a group would have if it is in place.
When the notification appears in the feed, maybe include in the line a link to the full calendar? Not necessary, but it'd be nifty.

Yesyesyes. Have I told you yet how much I LOVE this feature? You're AMAZING!
The modteam got a sneak peak at the calendar update over the last two weeks or so, to work out the kinks before it went out to wider distribution.
We ended up using it to plan fun events for the site for 2013, make sure they were spaced in ways that make sense, checked to make sure that they lined up with when people would be on vacation from school, or dodge days where people are often traveling, busy with family, or dealing with finals, etc. It immediately proved to be the easiest, most organized and well thought out way we've ever tried to plan events, by far. Gone are the days of just endlessly editing a stickied forum topic, that's for darn sure!
I really hope you guys find it as useful as we did. I know everyone will feel the benefits of us having used it throughout 2013, even if they never make or join a group themselves!
