"Here men from the planet earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all mankind." ”“ Inscription on plaque left on the moon by Apollo 11 astronauts
42 years ago today, humanity first set foot on a world which was not the one that gave us birth. Through sheer determination, we went from eternally Earth bound to the beginnings of space faring in just 12 years. A feat so amazing, it could barely even be imagined until the moment it was done.
So today, we salute wild imaginations coupled with wild ambitions. We salute visions so grand no one can look at them without thinking, "That's crazy! I want to help." We salute the teamwork of the 400,000 people it took to allow a single person to take that one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
May it be a reminder to us all to pay attention in math class. Not because it is easy: But because it is hard.
In acknowledgement of this great human achievement, I give you moon-themed templates! Not just for sci-fi characters any more, the moon is frequently an important figure in fantasy environments as well, and some of these templates reflect that.
