I suspect I speak for nearly everyone when I say: 2017 was a crazy year of change, surprises, and learning to rise to jarring occasions. I hope we've all arrived in 2018 in one piece, and ready to take on new challenges!A look back at 2017
My development theme for the RPR in 2017 was "connections," and as such, I set out to find new ways to make it easier for people to find one another in our ever-growing site. Here's a few of the highlights of updates this year:
- Added support for OOC chatter in IC threads
- It became possible to add people to an already in-progress PM conversation
- It became possible to edit private messages after sending them
- We saw keywords come to the RP Finder tool
- Innumerable other little quality of life upgrades throughout the site.
But that's not all!
- We published more Friday RP prompts this year than any before
- We held two official art trades and oodles of little RP events like the Meet Cute Challenge and Trick or Treat the Forums
- We had many of the members of a closing RP site join us
- We gave more kudos than ever before in a FOBETEO event
- We even defended the RPR from an alien invasion!
Looking ahead to 2018
This year, the word I've chosen to guide new feature development is "customization."
One of my goals in 2017 was to put in another period of intense focus on improving and expanding the capabilities, ease of use, and general awesomeness of private groups on the RPR. Unfortunately, that was one of the things that fell by the wayside of an over-full year. As it's still a very worthy goal, I'm making it my first development goal for the year. And in case you're wondering... planning for Epic Week 2018 is already well under way!
What goals do you have for the new year?

Happy New Year! This past year was....crazy for me, I thought I fell in love, got my heart broken, did NaNoWriMo, and made some amazing friends on started some amazing RPs on here. My main goals for this year are to be happy, finish rewriting, editing and get my 2017 Nano book published on Amazon, do NaNoWriMo AGAIN this year for the second book, and get my GED. Also, stay single. Also a goal. No flirty mingling allowed for me. Need to focus on myself.
This last year has been a rollarcoaster for me, but so many good things happened. I lived a year approximately drama free, I finished my internship and I got a beautiful lizard companion.
I am looking forward to drawing a little bit every day (or finishing a sketchbook, I'm happy with either!), getting a job (yay money) and finishing a poetry book I'm working on. It's going to be a hard year, but everything will come together in the end, I'm sure of it.

I apparently joined this site back in 2012, but I never really started using it until 2017 and I can happily say I don't have a single regret. The roleplay community has always been a bit of a drama pool elsewhere, but I've found that most things on RPR can be worked out or people politely part ways and that's that. I look forward to meeting more people in the community this year and growing with other members.
I suppose as far as a goal for this year, I really want to start working on more personal art. I know I need to practice, but I never seem to find the drive. So hopefully I can get off my butt and start doodling the neat scenes I have set up with my partners.
Can't wait to see how the site grows in the new year.

My goal for 2018 is to forgive. It's a tall order but a necessary one.
I'm so proud of what has all happened this year on RPR! So many good changes that made our lives better.
For me, I'm eager to get started on a new college degree and continuously improve my mental health. One of my goals is to slowly increase my capacity so that I can take on more things without hurting myself.

To accomplish a fair fun friendly RPR and RP group!
Fixed!
"We more Friday RP prompts published this year than any before."
Methinks your cursor jumped or something.
That aside... YAY HAPPY NEW YEAR RPR!
Gosh, I had such a severe downward spiral this past year that I just wish to enjoy 2018. I hope that I can make the best of any and all bad situations that come my way this year, and look to the silver linings of any and all situations that come my way that threatens to take me down.
I hope that I can be more artistically inclined this year -- I wish to make many more, meaningful pieces of art to myself. I wish to see my art as something for ME more than anyone else. Even commissions I get. After all, my art is something that I strive to improve, so each piece, I wish to learn something new that I can expand upon to become a better artist.
