The much anticipated server move is officially scheduled for Thursday morning.
There will be several hours of downtime as things are transferred over. This server's database will be locked several minutes before the transition begins, to ensure that no information is left behind.As with the last time we made a gigantic move like this, our domain name will be pointing at a new address - typically it takes a few hours for the digital address books of thousands of computers all over the world to realize there's been a change and update themselves, but in some rare cases it can take up to two days for that to occur. Most of you will see the site come back up and get back to normal by Thursday afternoon.
We've reached a size where we just can't quite fit on small consumer servers any more. It's time to move into a server with a little more horse power! Go go RPR!

I promise the actual server move will involve much less angst and death than this Battlestar version indicates. Possibly even none!
