For the second time in about 7 months, notifications have been completely rewritten from the ground up.This is indicative of the phenomenal growth the site has experienced in that time, both in its user base and in its functionality. We simply outgrew the old notification system many times faster than had been anticipated. You can do things on the RPR now that hadn't even been imagined seven months ago. Personally, I think that's just plain neat.
Here's to another seven months (and beyond) of amazing expansion! The new system has been designed with a special eye to extreme flexibility, so that it will handle nearly anything we throw at it for a long time to come. In the near term, that's going to mean a lot of new events generated by things happening in groups.
The duplication bug should be gone, and the new icons will make it easier to tell at a glance what your friends have been up to without having to read a wall of text. Plus, check out your friend page and your character's friends pages for some options to fine tune who you see notifications from.
Special Bonus: Player pages now have pretty URLs. Instead of URLs like http://www.rprepository.com/player.php?play=1, you can now use URLs more like http://www.rprepository.com/p/Kim.

You don't have to do anything to get the new style of URL for your own profile, it's already set to your username.

@Cinny -- I checked the notifications being sent to you and the only duplicate I saw was me joining The Society group twice. But that's not so much a bug as just a confusing circumstance, because I really did join that group twice. I'll see what I can do about making it smarter about detecting people doing things multiple times.

Oh sweetness! This means I can quit pouting now and do battle with my deranged do who has developed a liking for wrestling since I watch it and have modified some wrestling moves to be puppy sized. Puppy bomb (power bomb) ahoy! Heh.
There's no thingy to change your player URL. Everyone already has one, and it's their username. Yours is http://www.rprepository.com/p/lance2011

The dashboard looks so much better now with the new script, it does make keeping track of things easier
