For the first time in awhile, I'm looking for some Epic Week riddles from the general userbase for possible inclusion in this year - or possibly next year's event if we get a flood! I still have a couple of riddle slots open for this year!As most of you will be aware, we have a major event to celebrate the site's birthday every April that we call Epic Week. Part of that event features puzzles that are solved by a particular word or phrase. Players are given three clues to help them arrive at the correct answer, and the whole site can work together to solve each riddle. The solution words/phrases are usually bits of trivia from games, TV, movies, books, comics, or real world history.
If you have an idea for a topic for an Epic Week riddle, don't post about it here, and don't talk to your friends about it! Message me directly, so you don't tip your hand to any other players. We can talk through your fandom idea together to craft it into a riddle.
The number one rule of creating a riddle for Epic Week is to TELL NO ONE. It can be tempting to flex to your friends that you are going to have a riddle in Epic Week, but please try not to mention it until after your riddle has been solved - knowing who wrote the riddle can provide people clues all on its own! Your friends tend to know what you're in to.
I have an idea but I don't quite know how to make it work
If you have an idea but you're not sure how to assemble all the pieces into a workable riddle, please feel free to talk it through with me! I have helped many people take their vague ideas and turn them into a riddle, even when dealing with fandoms I know nothing about.
If I write a riddle, will I have to sit out Epic Week?
No. Writing a riddle for Epic Week does not mean that you will be unable to participate in Epic Week! You will just have to avoid the specific riddle you contributed, and do your best to keep your cool and quiet about being its author until after it gets solved. You can continue to participate in every other part of Epic Week and work on all the other riddles.
