They are extensively trained in both magic and combat, ensuring the safety and security of their kin.

✢ Court Guards serve under the leadership of their respective Captain and are assigned specific stations and patrol areas within their court. ✢ Captain of the Border responsibilities lies in matters outside of any particular court. They oversee outside court affairs, including the central hub of the Daegni and the Temple of the Demi-Gods. Their primary duties include ensuring the safety of all Daegni from external threats and maintaining the loyalty and well-being of the guards under their command.

✢ Border Guards serve under the Captain of the Border and are stationed at various points along the borders of the courts or the central hub of the Daegni. They have the authority to greet and escort outsiders who are not deemed a threat. While their jurisdiction extends beyond the borders of the courts, they do not possess authority within the court boundaries.

✢ The Captain of Enforcers is the head guard within the temple and specifically guards the Listeners and clergy. They oversee the enforcers below them and ensure the safety and well-being of the temple's inhabitants. These Captains hold a strong belief and equal worship in both Demi-Gods.

✢ Enforcers are temple guards who patrol and maintain order within the temple grounds. They have authority when guarding the clergy or Listeners, both inside and outside the temple.

✢ Priestesses and Priests among the Daegni are highly regarded for their exceptional healing abilities and powerful spell casting. They are known to possess spells and abilities that other Daegni cannot learn or accomplish. Their deep connection to the Demi-Gods grants them enhanced magical prowess and spiritual insight.

✢ Volunteers are Daegni who are in the process of learning and training to become Priests or Priestesses. In the autumn celebration of the Daegni, the court leaders are elected through a democratic process. Each court selects its new leader on August 22nd, a day dedicated to the transition of power and the renewal of leadership. The Daegni gather in their respective courts, and eligible candidates present their visions and plans for the court's future. The community engages in discussions, debates, and voting to determine the most suitable candidate to lead them for the coming year.

The election process is a solemn yet celebratory occasion, marked by rituals and ceremonies. The candidates for court leadership address the gathering, sharing their ideas, goals, and aspirations for the court. They emphasize their commitment to the betterment of the community, the preservation of the Daegni traditions, and the harmonious coexistence with the Feywild.

Once the voting concludes, the new court leaders are announced, and the transition of power takes place. The outgoing leaders are honored and celebrated for their service and achievements during their term. They receive gratitude from the community and are bestowed with tokens of appreciation.

Leadership Blessing

As part of the autumn celebration, a special ritual is conducted to symbolize unity and divine blessings. The newly elected court leader or the Listener, representing their court, is chosen to undergo the blessing ceremony. This honor is granted to the individual who has been elected as the most capable and deserving leader by their peers.

During the blessing ceremony, the chosen leader offers a small sacrifice of their blood, representing their commitment and dedication to their court and the Daegni community. The blood sacrifice is performed on the court's altar, alongside a platter of meat and a bountiful harvest, symbolizing abundance and prosperity.

Additionally, a piece of the leader's crystal, infused with the court's essence and spiritual energy, is offered as part of the sacrifice. This crystal fragment serves as a tangible connection to their court's divine heritage and the Gods. It is believed that the infused crystal retains the blessings and might of the Gods, serving as a source of strength and guidance throughout the leader's term.

Once the ceremony concludes, the infused crystal is returned to the court leader, who can utilize its power once a day for the duration of the year. This divine blessing enhances the leader's abilities, granting them an edge in their decision-making, diplomacy, and leadership skills.
