The Grove

Abstract:

Giant grove of trees interconnected by roots that serve as nexus to/from various realms/locations. The bigger/older the tree the stronger the connections between Dis and that location. The biggest trees connect Dis to the greater realms. The Grove(s) are frequented by many Fallen and Kinn alike some use it for ritual purposes while others are drawn to the callings of the Kinn. Some consider the location sacred grounds, others consider it a place of dark desires. Vissers Hold the knowledge of the Grove's inner workings

Location:

The largest of the Trees is located just behind the Ruins of the Citadel. It's roots reach down into the lower realms and interweave to create a living maze of sorts that constantly expands and changes. The roots can be traced toward any mature Sinn Tree. mature trees are marked with hollows in their trunks or openings at their base by the roots. The Grove of Dis occupies thirteen Sinn trees discounting the Greater Sinn Tree. Beyond the grove, there is a thicker forest in which the majority of the not fully matured trees stand. The Grove itself occupies its territory bordering and sometimes entering other locations. But no single location bears the control over its immensity.

Flora & Fauna:

Many medium-sized beasts frequent the Grove, most of which seem to align to natural flux rather than follow the profane paths. These creatures take on the shape of various deer, birds, land fowl. If one is lucky they might even catch glimpse of the rare Harpy Eagles; their white plumages reveal high contrast upon the resulting depth of umbra cast from The Grove. Due to their rarity, they are considered one of the three sacred animals to many of the beings that frequent the grove. Oddly enough the Harpy Eagle is one of the few beasts generally unaffected by the heavy umbra that is given off by the trees. Its feathers are often highly sought after as they are said to harbor the power to see into the beyond. they feed predominantly upon the Turba, but are known to eat and consume anything smaller than they. Their plumage tends to take or lose color depending upon their diets.

Another sacred animal that frequents the grove is a bit more deadly to encounter. Its likeness is much like that of a White tiger, but that is an adaptation to lure in prey. In truth, they are one of the most aggressive creatures. Their fur has a brilliant silvery-white tint almost as it if were glowing. Lining its back, however, are deeply contrasting stripes of what seems to be umbra. Its vibrant colors exploit the desire of the ignorant, as well as those who are profanely aligned. It tricks them into a false belief that they are "benevolent" creatures, upon entering striking zone however they are quickly disposed of, and likely eaten by the Tigers. Rumors state that every stripe that they have correlates to a lesser kinn they have consumed.
