Ten & Co. vs Fallen Dragoon
Cardinal Sinn12/11/2019
The lines were still being formed on the Virtus side when they arrived Ieyasu riding a head to confer with the other Virtus heads. They had brought more men then Ieyasu could have hoped for, from the sight of it alone they had the Fallen forces outnumbered roughly 2 to 1 which was in their favor. The truth of the matter was a bit different, the Virtus did indeed have superior numbers, but the “caliber” of the Fallen forces was far superior to their own. In the end it would nearly be an equal fight. Oddly enough the Fallen were content now, their camp entirely set up and formed, they were actually waiting for the Virtus to make themselves ready, some would call this a rare show of honor. Tenshis forces took commands from Ieyasu’s attendant, who gave the orders to make camp for the day and rest as well as able. Ever one here now knew battle would start tomorrow. The Fallen camp was surprisingly quiet, there were people moving about on their side that could be seen, but there was a silence from there, that some of the Virtus forces found off putting, It was “too quiet”. The bulk of their forces(the Fallen) were in their camp which was a fair distance away. In the middle of the camps though, standing in the middle of what would be tomorrow's battlefield (about a mile roughly away from the Virtus camp) there were 3 Fallen soldiers, they were massive, dwarfing the size of the majority of the Virtus soldiers. The truly terrifying one stood in the middle, and had not moved in three days, some were beginning to think it was a statue. (the Fallen in plain view are two Fallen grunts flanking a Fallen priest)

From a peaceful home, to treacherous lands. Onward! Soldiers, both simple men and seasoned fighters looked to find their blades with in the enemy. They hoped to live, to survive, to come home as well. What will be the outcome? Will their resolve and will power be enough to overcome the obstacle? Tenshi, who floats above them sitting upon a construct of light. A platform he himself had created. Circular, large enough to only hold and fit himself upon. His legs crossed, his Katana by his side, no longer concealed by the cloth. He kept his arms firmly folded over his chest, his eyes closed. The group arrived, four days of travel, but even now the men stood strong. They set up camp midday upon their arrival. The enemy forces weren't far from them. Surprisingly, they did not engage them, even now... Then again, it begs the question. What are they really doing. The silence would become unnerving tot he men below him, but to Tenshi he remained collected.
In fact, his attention had been drawn to the three standing alone. The one in the middle more so than any. Tenshi had not moved and neither did such a being. They were, abnormal, likely to be a handful. Tenshi needed to be cautious and pay close attention, but he could neglect the Fallen. Left unchecked, they could prove to be troublesome as well… However, how will they fare against someone who is loved by the sun and it slight. For these passing days the sun has been displayed, allowing for Tenshi to absorb the sunlight strengthening himself and the abilities he utilizes. For now, his eyes closed, taking the time before the battle to meditate. He hoped the Sun Dragon heard his plea. If not, then he will have to trust in his own abilities as well as the men below. Tenshi remained far above the area, allowing him to develop a mental picture of the land.

Tenshi wondered why the fallen had choose to wait to engage the Virtus, ironically he would see the reason, though probably not notice. It did not affect Tenshi, he was calm and collected, but their waiting, rattled the Virtus. The positioning of the NOtorious grunts, and “legendary” priest was quite intimidating. The grunts they moved from time to time throughout the day, the priest though...it stood completely motionless. Never once moving even a millimeter. Tenshi would not know it, but the way he had chosen to wait, he was in plain view, and attracted a fair deal of attention himself. There were even a few on the fallen lines throughout the day that stopped to look at him, some of them even waved. There was one in particular though that spent a fair deal of time, staring at him. He had to be there at least some 5 minutes staring him down before he leveled his spear, a clear taunt. There was no attack though, not now, that would not come until morning. As the sun set that day the Grunts left the priest, to stand alone in its vigil over the enemy encampment. The whole time, that damned priest never once moved, even as the sun began to peek over the horizon, it was there, unmoving. Some people were beginning to think it may have been a statue, some elaborate ruse, the way it had stood still all day, it was unnatural. It couldn't possibly be real, maybe it was a spell, or some illusion. That hope was shattered though as the Fallen commander approached it, the priest finally moved looking down to the commander who was on the priests right. Not far behind the commander was the fallen cohort, the number was a bit larger, and they seemed more “specialised”.
Usually a cohort had a fair deal of variety to it, this cohort though, it was notably “heavy” likely geared for assault. The bulk of its number were “Grunts” and their bigger brothers “Shock troopers”. The smallest units on the field were the Dragoons and vanguards, which might have been beguiling, arguably they were more dangerous than the larger units. there was not a single “light” unit in their number, which did have an effect on the Virtus morale. The Virtus would not show it though they all formed up dutifully Ieyasu surprisingly commanded this army of Virtus. Once the lines had been formed in response to the Fallen, Ieyasu was positioned at the rear of his army, a traditional place for a commander, something the fallen often mocked, calling it cowardly. The Fallen commander stood front and center of his cohort. The Virtus commander lifted his nodachi first, mirrored by the fallen commander lifting his sabre. The motions of the Fallen commander were mirrored here and there in his lines, the non commissioned officers shadowing his moves so that the command to charge would be simultaneously throughout the entirety of their numbers. They were noticeably better trained with better military bearing. Ieayasu gave the command with a mighty and booming Voice “CHAAAARGE!” the command dutifully obeyed as the Virtus army charged the Fallen battle line. As Ieyasu called the charge the Fallen commander simply dropped his sabre pointing it forward, there was no audible command but the thunder of the Fallen charge was clear enough, the entirety of the came rushing forward holding their formations. The fallen were outnumbered, nearly 2-1 but that had not dissuaded them in the slightest. There was one that stood out clearly now to tenshi the only one that had not charged forward. Those who were rushing forward melting away from the singular Dragoon, his halberd levels, pointing directly at Tenshi.

Indeed, Tenshi placed himself in view but would they dare to try and reach him? No. Through verbal means or physical means, their efforts would be ignored for the time being. For a man that sits above the way he did, they knew not of his capabilities. They knew not of the weight he would bring upon this war... So for now, they watched him, along with one who would even taunt him. As aforementioned, no acknowledgement is given nor even the slight pass of a glance. The day falls to night and the night rises to Dawn. The sun breaks through the darkness and already, Tenshi stood upon the platform he created. His eyes a glare, staring down upon both sides of the field. His katana clenched tight in his left hand, the other hand relaxed and open. The numbers of his comrades out matched the Fallen, but their forces held men that were beyond the average. This fight will be hard fought... It is unwavering will and tenacity that will allow them to prevail. The sacrifices here today will not be in vain. Tenshi will not allow it. Both sides formulate, the Commanders of each Squadron taking their positions...((C))

Their swords rising, and with them, Tenshi's thumb pressed against the guard of his Katana. When he applied pressure, a few inches of the blessed blade is revealed. Concurrently to this, Tenshi's form is enveloped in a golden aura that outlines his frame... His eyes changed from silver to match the color of his energy... His resolve can be felt here, oozing from where he stands to the battle ground below. Commander Leyasu gave the command, the other commander gave know verbal confirmation. They knew this was coming. Both forces charge, ready to shed blood and oppose their wills and honor upon one another. Whilst, two titans stand, Tenshi being one, the other being the Dragoon. In haling and exhaling, his head tilts back as his energy bursts into a blast of blinding light. Like sun, it would be difficult to maintain eye contact, but as the flash is revealed, his position now would be on the back end, behind the Dragoon. In the utilization of his flash-step, his right hand moved to the handle of his Katana and upon exiting such a high speed-movement he is seen with a bladed stance. Right foot forward, his weight equally distributed through his stance. With the sword already partially drawn and the hand already upon the handle, his first strike would be one of fluidity and no hesitation. "Vanish." His sword drawn in the blink of an eye. Holding a distance where his blade can reach the Dragoon from his blind side, a horizontal slash is performed at the same speed the blade is drawn. His golden light very vibrant now, fluctuating around his body, similar to the flow of a flame as specs of it pulls away from it and into the sky above, though, they did not vanish. The horizontal-flash, a technique created to fit his skill set and battle prowess. He aimed to bisect the Dragoon completely, even cleave through the armor that being possessed. From the Dragoon's left to his right. The top half would fall forward if the slash is successful.((C))
Tenshi however, remained vigilant, ready, he anticipated a far better reaction and saw this being as someone who was faster, stronger, better than him at every corner. It allowed for his awareness level to peak to its absolute best. He did not plan to cut any corners in this fight. The lives of many depends on his actions here today. How will the being before him respond? Is he capable of keeping up with the warrior touched by the sun and loved by light?((E))

The dragoon kept his lance leveled at Tenshi, an was unflinching as Tenshi’s aura expanded, to mst it would have been blinding, the fallen though Had long employed red crystal visors, to add to an intimidating appearance, but primarily to enhance the vision of soldiers, it did nothing for the acuity, however due to the red tint it served to stop them from being blinded by conventional light, as well as slightly increase low light vision. The dragoon neve once took his eyes off Tenshi, at least not voluntarily, the flash step was something completely new to this soldier. Tenshi was easily able to move behind the dragoon, his landing did however produce a noise, which the dragoon heard. The Dragoon had virtually zero time to respond, completely unable to turn around to face his opponent in time to block the horizontal strike. Luckily Tenshi did not allow hubris to overcome him, this turned out to be a very good thing. Do to his exception mental acuity (in specific his speed of processing data) he was acutely aware that his blow had missed, completely, striking nothing but air. The dragoon was not fast enough being caught so off guard to launch any form of effective counter attack, he was however able to avoid the blow by employing the primary ability of the dragoon. It was much similar to the flash step tenshi employed, this ability colloquially known as “jump”. It had no where near the range of Tenshi’s flash step however the speed was comparable. That being what it was the dragoon knowing Tenshi was behind him had immediately used this ability, leaping high into the air (approximately 50 feet) and turning so that he was able to see Tenshi, at least for the moment. The speed of the jump was a thing, somewhat legendary, as even to those with exceptional visual acuity had difficulty tracking the movement.
It may be entirely impossible this would throw Tenshi off, though if that happened likely it would not last long, if Tenshi lost track of the Dragoon at all.
(due to my critical fail during initiative roll i surrender and yield the right to counter attack or attack at all in my initial response)

Well protected! The Dragoon came prepared against the flashiness that Tenshi provides, but soon he will find that he is more than just a light show and a glo-stick. Though his arrival was easily heard, his reaction time was slow, Tenshi was sure of it and yet... He missed? Completely in fact, the foe before him performed a technique that even the likes of Tenshi was surprised to see. Only for a second however, his expression returned to a calm and collected resolve and for such a man of his intelligence, his eyes carried upward as he retracts the strike back to him, holding the Katana before him, revealing the purple runes upon the black and stainless blade. It did not take long for Tenshi to find his position, concurrently so, Tenshi proceeded with another attack of his own, but this time it is light based. He did not need to get up close and personal all the time and now the Dragoon will find that he is not only fast and very skilled in swordsmanship but versatile as well.((C))

The specs of light that float towards the sky were no where close to the distance the Dragoon had "jumped" however, he would find several specs of light shooting towards him at the speed of light! Enlarging to form hands. Stretching to form an arm. These hands of light aimed to grab the warrior. One for both legs, for both arms and even the torso and the head as well as the throat. Tenshi in all this gave no indication from that point forward, instead he remains with his eyes trained upon the potential victim. Upon the capture of even a singular limb an explosion erupts in the hopes of decimating the armor on said part as well as leaving extensive 3rd degree burns upon the skin beneath. Having jumped, the Dragoon would likely find it exceedingly difficult to avoid this hands of light, unless, the ability he used is similar to teleportation. Tenshi was already trying to understand the ability that seemed just as similar to his Flash-step, but he even explored the likes of teleportation as well. A stone cold glare tot he outcome. Tenshi waits...((E))

The Dragoons evasion of the slash provided him with only moments to spare, had he reacted any slower he likely would have been torn asunder by the slash Tenshi delivered. From the air though the Dragoon had managed at least to turn and face Tenshi. Tenshi wasted no time in finding the dragoon and was quickly and easily able to find just where the dragoon had gone. Tenshi being able to employ his light manipulation wasted no time in readying his next assault, utilizing the “embers” from his prior slash hands were formed which had a startling speed to them, the dragoon being in the air had no true options of dodging the assault. The Dragoon quickly found himself ensnared, not even having enough time to react and throw his halberd he found himself, the moment the hands grabbed the dragoon they erupted into a fireball of fury, a potent attack to be sure, had there been any true power or intent to kill behind them it may well have been the end of the Fallen soldier. Given the soldiers armour though he was well protected from the blast, the explosion doing virtually no damage to the dragoon at all, only some scorching to the armour. The dragoon was rather pleased to see he was not dead, and was upon the ground before the fire from the explosion had receded. The dragoon had landed hard enough so that Tenshi might have mistaken the sound of the impact for the corpse of the dragoon. It had landed hard back on the ground the armour was designed for these things though and the dragoon within it well trained. There was virtually no hesitation in the dragoons next assault. The Fallen soldier was now well aware the dumbfounding speed Tenshi possessed and generally was completely outmatched by the man. He had only one option if he ever hoped to land a hit, and as such his choice of attack was “unconventional”, and perhaps a touch bastardly.
The fire the Fallen soldier was still consumed in the fire though this did nothing to slow or stop him from moving, though it did obscure his view, and the sound of rushing fire rendered him nearly deaf, making it incredibly difficult, nearly impossible to aim. That being what it was the dragoon took his best guess, aiming according to were Tenshi had been before the dragoon had made it to the ground. Once this Fallen soldier reached the ground once more the dragoon used his jump ability again, though this time NOT into the air, but instead straight forward. Hopefully this would send him rocketing into, quite possibly through Tenshi, his halberd which was in his left hand and was aimed at about mid level intending to strike Tenshi in the chest or possibly the abdomen (the halberd “protrudes” about three feet infront of the dragoon, the halberd itself being six feet in length, dragoons hand gripping slightly below the middle of the weapon). The speeds of the “jump” ability were comparable to the “flash step” Tenshi himself used, and that speed would produce an astounding and theoretically devastating amount of force behind the blow, which lent itself readily and quite beneficial to the piercing point of the halberd.( IF the dragoon were to miss it SHOULD place the dragoon approximately 10 feet behind where Tenshi was standing prior to the attack.)
Tenshi Kodai Mitsumi12/14/2019
Grabbed, the Dragoon un-doubtfully ensnared by the hands of light! However, Tenshi did not stand with a look pleasure in this. Not a thought of assured victory crossed his mind. The opponent from simply his first attack was far to skilled, he had already perceived this and taking note of it. Not for a second did he think such an attack would be enough to defeat him, but knowing that his light can and will reach him if planned accordingly, Tenshi saw a road to victory. Now wasn't the time to falter. His stance stayed. The hand upon his Katana steady, positioned with the edge of the blade facing outward, parallel to the ground. The Dragoon upon seemingly being obliterated or exceedingly injured to a degree that would leave him unable to continue, strikes the ground hard. A loud THUD Tenshi's eyes snaps to the location his grip growing firm against the handle.((C))
Tenshi Kodai Mitsumi12/14/2019
The Dragoon wasted no time in using that ability. Tenshi's understanding of the flash-step allowed for him to be perceptive and understanding to the linear motion and speed of it. Primed with his natural instincts and battle prowess, his speed already proving difficult for the warrior to perform a counter measure against him or so the Dragoon is leading him to believe. Tenshi's resolve does not waver even in this sliver of time. The flames disperse with such speed, and Tenshi's side-steps to the right at a 45 degree angle. Concurrently as he did so, a lethal strike is performed in the same angle his first attack followed. A horizontal slash from this time the Dragoon's right to left. Right at the midsection, Tenshi aims with lethal force, a killing blow in its own right. He held nothing back here. "AHHHHHH" The Dragoon's halberd finding nothing but air, just as his sword did once upon a time. With the added momentum of the Dargoon's jump ability and the natural speed and force behind Tenshi's strike it seemed almost certain that his sword would cleave through both armor and flesh, leaving his foe utterly halved. Even upon contact, a flash-step is performed to take him ten forward from his initial position.((E))
Cardinal Sinn12/14/2019
The dragoon did what it could, but in the end it was simply outmatched. Tenshi saw through the ploy and countered accordingly, this time the Dragoon was cut cleanly in half, both pieces rolling and tumbling unceremoniously through the dirt. Most of the details of this battle would be hard to make out, both sides fighting ferociously, blood murder and meyhem in all directions, this was indeed the chaos of war. The fighting would stretch out over three days before the battle would end, the Fallen cohort fighting to the last man, such was their way, no retreat, no surrender. The Virtus had the Fallen outnumbered nearly two to one in the beginning, and yet despite this the more heavily geared Fallen cohort still managed to put quite the impressive dent into the Virtus numbers. This would serve to further their legendary prowess and vicious nature, even outnumbered as they were they had managed to inflict heavy losses on the Virtus forces, killing more than half of their men. One of the more notable things about the losses, aside from being staggering was the absence of injury, there were very few walking wounded. Death was a more common fait then injury here, and the losses were substantial, of the 1ooo men the Virtus had left with only 4oo survived this battle. And perhaps heavily for Tenshi was that of the 15o men Ieyasu had led here...only 12 survived, surprisingly two of them had been from the numbers of the volunteers. The loss of commander Ieyasu would also be a heavy blow to the morale of the town, he was a much loved man, and would be missed by many. Had more of the survived they would have been able to claim more of the loot that was left on the battlefield. Most of it would likely just be melted down, the black mithril able to fetch a hefty sum when trading.
Tenshi himself had even indulged in some of the spoils, claiming an odd sachle from one of the Grunts, held within it was a good find all things considered, three ginseng roots, likely meant for brewing tea. He had also chose a piece of armour from on of the Fallen he himself had killed, a war trophy of sorts. He had chosen a pair of gauntlets from one of the dragoons he had killed, quite a nice prize. Sadly they would do little to alleviate the cost of this battle and soothe the souls of the families of the soldiers that would not be returning home. Most of the reasons those whom had survived were able to claim so little was that the majority of the carts were filled with the bodies of those they lost. The bulk of that army that had been here was able to leave far in advance of tenshi's group, funerary rights demanding an entire evening of vigil over the corpses of their fallen, lest their souls would never be able to rest in peace, some legends even said were these rights not observed the dead would rise to haunt and hunt those who neglected them.
