Sociology

  • Culture

The following details define Myclyx culture:

Matriarchal- Myclyx society, females are highly respected and the leaders of the communities. Males are more likely to be subtly looked down upon, even by other males. Overt sexism of this nature is not frowned upon, but it is not extremely common in younger Myclex, more so in the older generation. Overt disrespect of a female by a male is unheard of.

Packs- Myclyx tend to congregate in packs that correspond to their zodiac, usually with one head female. Packs vary in size, and breeding and forming family units within a pack is rare, despite it being a common practice for females to take their pleasure with multiple males within. One often joins a pack upon reaching sexual maturity.

Polyamorous- Myclyx are, in general, a polyamorous species. Family units may be up to four unrelated individuals that form interconnected breeding pairs. These units are completely unrelated to the pack each one may belong to and does not necessarily negate pack relationships. Loyalties are complex and may vary depending on the individual, as are attitudes regarding which, pack or family, one should be most loyal to. More detail on family units can be found in the breeding section. One often joins, or begins to form a family unit 5 to 7 years after sexual maturity.
  • Behavior

While behavior varies from individual to individual, most of these behaviors are evident across the species:

Disloyalty to Other Species - Males in particular tend to be extremely disloyal to creatures outside of their species in any capacity. They occasionally display a great deal of aggression as well. It is said that any that can truly take a male Myclex and gain their loyalty is highly skilled in whatever capacity they attempt to tame them in. Females may also display this, but in a more subtle, manipulative manner.

Clicking - As a distress signal, Myclex click loudly in the backs of their throats in rapid succession. Similar sounds, softer and less quickly, can be heard when a Myclex is pleased. It is thought that this may be a form of language, as often they communicate solely in clicks with one another, varying in tone and intensity depending on their zodiac.

Carnivorous - As a species, they are a meat eating people, tending to have a preference for game meats, such as rabbit and venison. Those raised in captivity can adapt to an ominvorous or vegitarian diet over time.

Harem Behavior - Females tend to exhibit a desire to collect males of the species, regardless of their zoidiac orientation, for her own means, be it for breeding purposes or simply as her personal servants. More information on this in the breeding section.
